Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

It's already been shown that the virus was not man made, but it is still possible it came from a bat at a lab that was studying bat coronaviruses. Nobody knows exactly where it came from yet.

How McKinsey Helped the Trump Administration Carry Out Its Immigration Policies - The New York Times
Newly uncovered documents show the consulting giant helped ICE find “detention savings opportunities” — including measures the agency’s staff sometimes viewed as too harsh on immigrants.

Just days after he took office in 2017, President Trump set out to make good on his campaign pledge to halt illegal immigration. In a pair of executive orders, he ordered “all legally available resources” to be shifted to border detention facilities, and called for hiring 10,000 new immigration officers.
...
But the money-saving recommendations the consultants came up with made some career ICE workers uncomfortable. They proposed cuts in spending on food for migrants, as well as on medical care and supervision of detainees, according to interviews with people who worked on the project for both ICE and McKinsey and 1,500 pages of documents obtained from the agency after ProPublica filed a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act.

McKinsey’s team also looked for ways to accelerate the deportation process, provoking worries among some ICE staff members that the recommendations risked short-circuiting due-process protections for migrants fighting removal from the United States. The consultants, three people who worked on the project said, seemed focused solely on cutting costs and speeding up deportations — actions whose success could be measured in numbers — with little acknowledgment that these policies affected thousands of human beings.
That is why AOC is very skeptical -- that this consulting firm may focus on bad measures of success.

What we need instead is much more massive testing and contact tracking. As we get that going, we can restart the parts of the economy that have the least chance of spreading the virus and gradually move to more and more risky parts of it.

People who are semi blue are good enough for me. I still like the idea of the big tent.

My test is if some one is with you more than against you then they are with you.

We only have two parties. Both need to be as inclusive as possible to get enough breadth of opinion where most times things get done.

Tents need more than two poles to support providing a home.

I've got a bunch of them.

Russia will 'certainly accept' Trump's 'kind' offer of ventilators, Kremlin says | TheHill
The administration also pledged to support other countries such as Italy, Spain and France, which are also facing supply shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Russia recorded 27,938 COVID-19 cases and 232 deaths within the country, with reports that officials are working to gather proper resources such as ventilators to help infected patients.

The Kremlin sent the U.S. medical equipment including ventilators earlier this month, with payment divided between the U.S. government and a Russian state investment fund program.
Trump sending ventilators to Russia. - The Daily Kos
On March 19, Trump stated
“Governors are supposed to be doing a lot of this work … the federal government is not supposed to be out there buying vast amounts of items and then shipping. We’re not a shipping clerk. As with testing — the governors are supposed to be doing it … but this is really for the local governments, governors, and people within the state, depending on the way they divided it up.
That Daily Kos article stated
So it would be a little odd that when it comes to Russia, Trump appears to have found the both the ventilators he didn’t provide to the states and his inner shipping clerk.

What Matters: The social-distancing deniers have arrived - CNNPolitics - "The more successful the federal and state governments are at flattening the coronavirus infection curve, the more people will question whether halting the nation's economy was necessary in the first place."

Who gives a fuck if the democrats did things wrong. They didn't have the information the Bonespurs administration did because Bonespurs chose to keep that information quiet.

That's just trying to misplace blame.

As much as " Bonespurs" is hated by the left. The real blame should be sheeted home to where it belongs. With China and their mouthpiece WHO for hiding the pandemic for up to four weeks. Had the CPP not tried to sweep this under the carpet, perhaps up to 90% of the deaths could have been averted!

I suppose this is Bonespurs fault as well!

f we are to believe China’s figures, the number of Covid-19 coronavirus cases in China as of March 31 was 82,240, with 3,309 deaths. The United States has now just under 165,000 cases and has surpassed 3000 deaths attributed to the virus - about double the official number of China’s cases and fast approaching China’s official death total. China claims that it has largely defeated the coronavirus and is opening public transportation, schools, and factories. The Chinese Communist Party has promoted itself as the global role model for how to lead a “people’s war” against COVID-19 and save many lives. “Party officials have tried to spin the crisis as a testament to the strength of China’s authoritarian system and its hard-line leader, Xi Jinping,” the New York Times reported, “even announcing plans to publish a book in six languages about the outbreak that portrays him as a ‘major power leader’ with ‘care for the people.’”

If the question is asked what's this got to do with topic at hand. It's to prove that China's regime lies until they're blue in the face.

Trump wants some states to reopen soon but new outbreaks continue in nursing homes and food processing plants - CNN
Trump has backed off from some big reopening:
"We are not opening all at once, but one careful step at a time," Trump said. "And some states will be able to open up sooner than others. Some states are not in the kind of trouble that others are in."

While the number of new cases is dropping in some states, health officials have identified new outbreaks. In New Hampshire, clusters were identified at three long-term care facilities, according to Lori Shibinette, health commissioner with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

Meanwhile, more than half of the 143 new cases of Covid-19 in South Dakota were linked to the Smithfield Foods plant, one of the country's largest pork processing facilities, a spokesman with the state's health department said.

Police find 17 bodies at New Jersey nursing home after anonymous tip - BBC News
New Jersey police found 17 bodies in one of the state's largest nursing homes after an anonymous tip said a body was being stored in a shed.

A total of 68 people associated with the Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation centres have recently died, with 26 having tested positive for Covid-19.

Police did not find a body in the shed, but said the facility's tiny morgue was "overwhelmed".

States move forward with coordinating coronavirus response after Trump backs down - CBS News
The northeastern alliance — which for now includes New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Massachusetts — could expand in the coming days to include other New England states like Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is the only Republican currently in the coalition.

California, Oregon & Washington Announce Western States Pact | California Governor
Through quick and decisive action, each of our states has made significant progress in flattening the curve and slowing the spread of COVID-19 among the broader public. Now, our public health leaders will focus on four goals that will be critical for controlling the virus in the future.

  • Protecting vulnerable populations at risk for severe disease if infected. This includes a concerted effort to prevent and fight outbreaks in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
  • Ensuring an ability to care for those who may become sick with COVID-19 and other conditions. This will require adequate hospital surge capacity and supplies of personal protective equipment.
  • Mitigating the non-direct COVID-19 health impacts, particularly on disadvantaged communities.
  • Protecting the general public by ensuring any successful lifting of interventions includes the development of a system for testing, tracking and isolating. The states will work together to share best practices.
COVID-19 doesn’t follow state or national boundaries. It will take every level of government, working together, and a full picture of what’s happening on the ground.

Kamala Harris: President Trump's Failure to Lead on Coronavirus Has Resulted in ‘Body Bags’ - VICE
"There is no question that if we'd had a president in charge who actually took their responsibility seriously, that we would probably be looking at a lot less damage than we have incurred," she said in an interview with VICE News. "We watch every day the number of people infected and the number of people who are dead. We are every day hearing and watching stories about body bags. So, look, the buck stops with the president."

...
“The fact is that he has abandoned his role of leadership and meaning the role of the president of the United States," she said. "He’s abandoned the role of the president of the United States.”

...
“His failure to take this seriously, from the time of calling it a hoax, to getting rid of the Obama administration’s focus through the White House on pandemics, to him trivializing the issue including the importance of social distancing” has made the crisis in the United States worse than it needed to be, she said.

...
“The thing about this moment and it also is a source, therefore, of frustration about who this president is and how he has been approaching this issue: this is science. These things just don’t lie. Science is based on empirical data. Science is based on peer review. Science is based on analysis, objective analysis.”
The buck part reminds me of Harry Truman's desk sign: "The Buck Stops Here".

So anyone notice Trump was Tweeting to Liberate Virginia! Wait, I'm sorry, LIBERATE VIRGINIA! And Michigan, and Minnesota?

As if roughly 43 other states don't have soft shutdowns?! This man is a cancer!
Technically, the states moved forward before Trump backed down. How pathetic that the states are regionalizing because they know they can't trust the White House for any leadership whatsoever.
