Trump’s Dictatorship, what will it actually look like?

He's just there to say what the base wants to hear, the people he has behind him deliver it.
One of the features, since joining this site, that I really dislike is the multiple quoting feature. I have NO idea who among those you quoted you are actually addressing. I guess I will get used to it, but I will choose to address my comments directly to the person I am responding to.

Someone enlighten me as to who I should believe about Project 2025.
Why? It's all opinion. Why not ACTUALLY read up on what Project 2025 is about?
Mind you, a lot of reading, and you have to get past the first few pages to get into the meat of the matter. But at least THEN you will know what is in Project 2025.
Seriously? I have, at best, only a passing interest in it at this point. I posted a link earlier to a critique/fact check of P2025 claims by Robert Reich in post #42, and no one here has seriously challenged it. Perhaps if the critics of P2025 had been making at least an honest attempt at summarizing what is actually in it, I would look into it more. I will be happy to take a look at a short summary of P2025, if it passes the smell test. But I'm not going to read a 900 page document that would take me many days to get through. Hell, I won't take the time to watch a 1 hour video that anyone posts here, much less read a document that gives a James Michener length book a run for its money.

Even Kamala Harris is telling lies about P2025:

Fact check: Harris falsely claims Project 2025 blueprint calls for cutting Social Security
IF you are so upset about the interpretations of Robert Reich, or Kamala Harris, then do your own reading. I just browsed through the PDF files, I didn't need to read word for word. If you want to know what is contained within the document so you don't have to rely on the pundits, then browse through it.
If, as you say you only have a "passing interest" in what the document contains then HOW can you possible know if Kamala's assessment is inaccurate. You claim she is telling lies about P2025 but have only a "passing interest" in what it is all about? Kinda contradictory statements.
MY BET is that you do have MORE than a passing interest but like to making disparaging remarks about anyone who is critical of P2025.

Like, sheesh already!
Upset? No. Bored? Yes. The critique I posted earlier rejected the claim that P2025 aims to cut SS, so I've known about that particular whopper lie for a while now. And I discovered the KH claim about P2025 because it ended up in my news feed and I read it. BFD. I'm just giving you multiple sources for the P2025 lies (e.g. CNN), because people here tend to reject any source that may be even slightly right of center.

Today's news in India: Trump says to his constituency, 'Elect me, I will fix everything in a way that you would not need to vote again."

Seriously? I have, at best, only a passing interest in it at this point. I posted a link earlier to a critique/fact check of P2025 claims by Robert Reich in post #42 (which describes it as "mostly false"), and no one here has seriously challenged it. Perhaps if the critics of P2025 had been making at least an honest attempt at summarizing what is actually in it, I would look into it more. I will be happy to take a look at a short summary of P2025, if it passes the smell test. But I'm not going to read a 900 page document that would take me many days to get through. ETA: You know its gotta be an obvious whopper of a lie if left-leaning CNN is calling it out.
We replied at the time. That "fact" check is mostly "false" because what people are saying about P2025 is a combination of what's in the document and what they have said elsewhere about what those things mean. I don't seem to have the link but there was a breakdown of what the budget effects would be and there was a huge cut to Social Security.

There’s a lot of money going to SS and Medicare. Of fucking COURSE Trump wants it all. He could be as rich as his idol!
Who is Trump's idol? I can't imagine anyone supplanting himself in his own affections.
He is a self-made man who worships his creator.

I believe Elixir is referencing Putin.

What? Trump's father made his fortune. Donald Trump has squandered it. If it wasn't for the public stock deal that got him out of his failed casinos, he'd likely be ruined, decades ago. And since his failed casinos, he doesn't generally make anything. He just uses his name as a Brand.

Trump suggests he’s open to cuts to Medicare and Social Security after attacking primary rivals over the issue

Anyone relying on on what the 900 page exercise in obfuscation says, deserves what they get.

I didn't get that from what he said. He didn't actually say anything, which is normal for Trump.

CNBC guy asks, non-discretionary spending is the problem and without being able to manage it differently, our deficits will be high. Trump's response was 'there are things you can do' and referenced 'theft', presumably regarding people cheating the system (Donald and Donald Jr must be getting disability checks for his dead father still).

What I find a never ending bafflement is that Trump again answers a serious question with his trademarked vague 'so many solutions', but not going any deeper. Then tangents to making stuff up, 'people are saying X, but I'm saying Y!!!', ie making X up and then adding the Trump trademarked BS factor. And people buy this stuff. Trump isn't saying anything regarding solutions and he is invented problems that he says he will save America from. And 25% of voting America finds this compelling.

Trump isn't saying anything regarding solutions and he is invented problems that he says he will save America from.
Why can’t people see through it when he makes TOTALLY vacuous statements like “I’m going to get rid of inflation!” ??

Do they not know what inflation is?
Do they think 0% inflation would be a GOOD thing?
Do they not know what a President does?
WTF!!!

Zackly. I am gobsmacked that @Tigers! Thinks Trump is either “self made” or that he worships anything other than himself.
He is, as anyone who knows him knows, a severely damaged, sociopathic narcissistic individual.
He inherited over $400,000,000.00 from Daddy. I think there are few people who could fail as utterly and spectacularly as he has under those circumstance. “King of Bankruptcy”.
His only “success” ever was the TV show that Barnett produced, portraying a 100% fictional Trump.

And your statement is pretty emblamatic as to why I don't bother getting excited about what's in P2025. You have not addressed any specifics about which parts of the P2025 critique article I posted are biased or false, and continue to insist that P2025 is more than the 900 page document...it also includes things other people said somewhere that you can't find. And despite multiple sources indicating cuts to SS are not in the P2025 plan, you insist it is. Talk about weak. Why is it so hard for someone to actually compile a fact checked unbiased summary of what P2025 is all about?

Oh fer cryin' out loud. There REALLY is no excuse. Here's the deal, with page numbers and everything you need to slice and dice it to suit your purpose, whatever that may be:

And have you actually checked all this yourself?
No. Certainly not all of it. Which part would you like me to check for you?
From page 449, which is kind of a treasure trove:

"From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity
and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development,
race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities
are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural
death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care."
Seriously Beave, look up just a little of this shit and get a flavor at least.
It's HORRIFYING. "Abortion and euthanasia" are the same thing?

Project 2025 pg 452 said:
"COVID-19 exposed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as perhaps the most incompetent and arrogant
agency in the federal government."
Bullshit on steroids. Trump threw away the CDC pandemic handbook, adherence to which would have saved the better part of a million American lives.
It did expose Trump as a charlatan and an idiot, recommending drinking bleach and sticking UV lights "inside" and convincing billions of people worldwide that masks don't work and they should go out and have Covid parties...
But the authors of this tripe have to call Fauci, who has triple Trump's IQ, the bad guy who is incompetent and arrogant because he made Trump look bad, despite his best effort not to. Poor guy did everything but lie, to keep Trump out of the very bad light he kept shining on himself. But Trump needed him to lie. Shame what Cheato did - or tried to do - to a spectacularly accomplished lifelong public servant, just to protect his bloated ego.

That entire document is full of trumpologetics and false accusations against phantom "enemies" they promise to vanquish.
It's a travesty.

You're right, @thebeave about it being dismissable as an actual plan; it is WAY too detached from reality to serve as such. But it is an accurate reflection of the character of Trump and the government he wants to foist off on the American public.

One of the features, since joining this site, that I really dislike is the multiple quoting feature.

I assume you're referring to quote NESTING, which is NOT the same as MULTIPLE quoting. The former gives you umpteen posts left over from the guy you're quoting, who had umpteen-minus one nests. The latter is when you deliberately quote multiple posts to respond to them all in one post. Assuming you are talking about the NESTING then ...
You and me both! (Though one nicety is that it's easy to break INTO a long post to respond to one sentence, as I have done here.

I have NO idea who among those you quoted you are actually addressing. I guess I will get used to it, but I will choose to address my comments directly to the person I am responding to.

I actually like quote nesting when done properly. But here, all too often, umpteen irrelevant quotes are left in place, all for a single sentence of new content. Even if there WAS a relevant antecedent in the umpteen prior posts, it was probably snipped along the way. 8-) But it's not hard to snip away the useless prior quotes -- and it looks like you already know how to do that.

(Some boards disallow nested quotes. Or, better yet, make it more complicated so only "power users" will use it.)

Be careful though. The horrid editor here makes it VERY easy to end up with a flaw when you prune, especially when you do it in the "friendly" branch of "Toggle BB code."

+1. But it's often easiest to highlight the phrase, sentence or part of the post you want to respond to and hit the "reply" option that comes up.
When responding to say, the last two of ten posts that were nested in the post I want to respond to, I use the "toggle BB Code" option to manually excise the irrelevant parts.
