Trump’s Persecution of Jerome Powell and Political Opponents Must End

In what way is a car a good investment vehicle (pun intended)? Don’t they drastically lose value over time?
If you had bought a new 57 Chevy Belair convertible for $3k and stored it for 70 years at zero storage expense, you could get over 300k for it, while the 3000 1957 dollars you spent would only be worth about 35k today.
That's all very well, but what if you'd bought an Edsel instead? ;)

Citation please?
A citation isn't needed. Just common sense. The fed mandate is to keep inflation low and they have failed miserably. They have failed so bad keeping inflation low inflation this has actually changed the course of society.

When a society is flourishing homes and automobiles have color. Look at some of the homes during the 1960's. Homes and cars had color (sometimes ridiculous colors) because people (when currency was still stable) could buy these items for their own pleasure instead of using these assets only to hedge inflation as their savings vehicle. People didn't need to care whether they got top resale value because they did not look at these items as temporary assets in their portfolio. Look at all the grey cars and homes today. It's because people buy these items with neutral color knowing they are only a temporary owner anticipating to optimize top resale after they cash in the asset. Thanks to the fed they can not save their cash in the bank anymore so they use their homes and cars.

When the average Joe has to buy a car as a savings investment just to reduce exposure to the feds inflation, that's when you know the fed has been worthless. Less than worthless considering they draw salaries at tax payer expense.

Get rid of the fed and you won't have anyone printing more dollars causing predictable and massive inflation.
Color??? That's your proof???

Why the hell did you do THAT? :ROFLMAO:
Actually the Citation model appreciated pretty well. One sold for $173,250, and they were under 4k new, so it wasn't an ENTIRELY stupid "investment".

If we're doing cars, do a Shelby Cobra roadster. Originals now go for over a million.

My neighbor in Boulder was given a new Shelby Cobra for HS graduation. It cost about 8k iirc. That would have been... early sixties. He immediately wrecked the car sold the wreck. FFWD 35-40 years ... he bought the repaired car back for $400,000. He's been out on the classic car racing circuit ever since. He has a photo on his office wall that someone took at one of those races, showing him almost side by side with Carrol Shelby in another cobra on the track. VERY cool!

Pastel and black and white colors were also very popular during the depression 1930's.

The fed was also making mistakes during those times. Some say the fed caused the great depression to be much worse than it otherwise should have. Yes there were panics before the depression but they recovered on their own much more quickly and with no money printing.

We dont need the fed and never needed it. That's not to say everything is otherwise perfect but fix those problems without a Jerome Powell and the endless money printing inflation.

Some say? *rolls eyes*

The issue with the great depression would be magnified by protectionist policies like Trump is endorsing.
Yes there were panic before the depression but they recovered on their own much more quickly and with no money printing.
No they didn't. Panics lasted longer than a year and often were followed by economic depressions which caused lots of economic harm. Read a damn a book.

Black, white and pastel? Not certain what that has to do with anything.

Your ignorance of history, the role of the Fed, basic economics and monetary policy is absolutely breathtaking.

It is generally accepted that at the outset of the The Great Depression, the Fed did nothing because it didn’t wish to interfere with the free market. You know, let the market determine interest rates - just what you prefer.

What panic prior to the fed ever lasted longer than the 1930's depression?

Top of my head? 1819, 1873, and 1893.

The ones in 1785-1788, 1789-1793, 1815-1821,1839-1843, and 1873-1879

But I fail to see the relevance of your question.

I think his argument is that those panics didn’t last as long as the Great Depression. 😁That has nothing to do with the fact that the Federal Reserve was created specifically to both limit the occurrences and mitigate the damage from those kinds of financial collapses.

Edit: Too bad it didn't reduce risk taking.

To be fair, when Rvonse is being so nostalgic about colour back in the 50s, I don't think he's only referring to the colour of the houses...

It's just he can't bring himself to say the quiet part out loud.

Uh huh. But making noises in the dogwhistle frequency range is pretty unmistakeable, even when it’s done out of habit and the content is garbled.

Toss up does this go here of in the ICE Cold Blooded Murder topic?

I'll put it here.

Using the inJustice Department to threaten political opponents.

DOJ investigating Minnesota governor, Minneapolis mayor over alleged obstruction of law enforcement, sources say

The Justice Department is investigating Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over possible obstruction of federal law enforcement, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

A person familiar with the matter told CNN that a grand jury has issued subpoenas for both men as part of the investigation. But Walz’s office had not received any notice as of Friday evening, according to another source familiar with the matter. It was not immediately clear when Frey and Walz would receive the subpoenas.

I strongly suspect that all of Trump's top goons (Hagseth, Bondi, Miller, Kennedy, Noem, eyc ) already have pardon papers in their pockets. So they are free to do almost anything.

If they're typed by Trump, there is a non zero chance that they are so poorly worded they could still get crucified.

That’s another thing I’m confused about.
There’s a whole shit load of stuff they did that needs pardoning, for sure. But does it have to be spelled out?
Are “pre-emptive pardons” a thing?
In cases where they’ve already been charged, the charges or offense are specified in the pardon. That’s why a pardon constitutes an admission. (Predictive text even filled that in)
I suspect all these thugs are deep enough in it that there’s no escaping consequences if control of the government is wrested from the fascists.

Everybody knows Bondi, Noem, the entire cabinet and majorities of both houses are corrupt opportunists. But can any of them be pursued by “the law”?
