Twitter likely to take idiots offer to buy them for $43 billion

The funny thing is, there was no question about the authenticity of that account, but Musk actually increases the potential for spam and literal fake news by removing their verification (though I suppose the blue check mark doesn't actually verify anything). And how much longer is Twitter 1.0 going to exist? I mean even if Musk does manage to create a YouTube/Amazon/Google clone, this Twitter is dead anyway. How much money should people put into replacing this system?

I have been hearing (and hoping) for the demise of Twitter.... so when it is going to happen?

Here's my prediction: Congress will pressure Tik Tok owners to sell to US. Musk will end up being the owner, but probably not right away. Then, Twitter will merge with TikTok into TwitTok or Tikler to be decided on thru polling that Musk will ignore anyway. People will joke that it is TwitKok briefly. Musk will also try to compete in Amazon and OnlyFans spaces with the new product, hyping its potential up. Then, he will sell it off for more than it's worth, making a $1B profit. It will take Twitter more than a decade to go the way of MySpace.

Substack announced that they were going to be making their own version of Twitter and as a result, Elon Musk has implemented some kind of block on tweets that contain substack links. People are reporting difficulty in liking and retweeting them. This is odd behaviour from free speech warrior Elon Musk particularly given that many of his biggest fans and supporters have substacks. Matt Taibbi is not happy..:.

Elon Musk responded by unfollowing Taibbi.

I guess Taibbi can expect a lower reach on the platform from now on.

Looks like their marriage is over.

Musk and Taibbi are fighting over custody of their child the Twitter files.

This is more delightful than the Crowder/Shapiro catfight.

Musk schools BBC "reporter";

Twitter owner Elon Musk has accused a BBC reporter of lying during an interview in a row over whether incidents of hate speech are increasing on the social network. Mr Musk was asked by US tech journalist James Clayton how he would respond to claims that there are not enough staff at Twitter to police rising hateful content. But he challenged the reporter to give him examples of such content - and when Mr Clayton declined to do so, Mr Musk accused him of spreading a 'false' claim.

Daily Mail

Time to defund the BBC.

Musk engages in sophistry to avoid an awkward question.

Daily Mail applauds Musk.

TSwizzle applauds Daily Mail.

There's nothing here but a bunch of idiots loudly congratulating each other for having been successful in generating loud congratulations.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of good reasons why someone might not want to repeat hate speech when challenged to prove that it exists. Particularly in an environment where literally everyone involved has the ability to demonstrate its existence for themselves.

Please stop quoting the fucking Daily Mail. If they want to post their drivel here, let them open an account, and submit their nonsense to actual discussion, rather than just having you act as their lackey to drop their latest steaming turds on our table and then wash your hands of it by adding a link to their cesspool.

You have provided no discussion of the text you quoted; Just a poor-to-the-point-of-misleading summary of the dubious claim it makes, and a political slogan masquerading as a conclusion drawn from it.

The problem isn't any given incident but the pattern. Twitter is looking at possible fines of more than it's current value from Germany for it's ignoring hate speech.

I thought that was the entire purpose of the Trump era Republican Party. It’s not like they have some ideological North Star or any plan to do anything to benefit the nation.
It is apparent that the Party’s only purpose now is to keep telling each other how good they (and their orange avatar) look so the rubes will keep voting for them.
The incredible thing is how well it works on people like poor Swiz.

Seems like self-driving cars will need a "backseat driver" mode, where a passenger can give detailed instructions.
