Was Jesus a jerk?

Well, this pointless never ending debate does help to ward off boredom.

As Waton makes clear, the entire world is now in a transition between capitalism and socialism.
Waton is an economist? Also, how is any of this talking about if Jesus was a jerk?
Waton is a follower of Marx, the only economist worthy of the name.
So I take that as a no then, he isn't an economist?
Jesus is the progenitor of socialism.
I thought he more aspired to ascetism. Man, for a guy so much is given credit to, he didn't do crap. I pretty certain Jesus wasn't the first person to say the rich should share the wealth.

Liberals typically want to close discussion to non-experts, and by experts what is meant are those validated by liberal institutions. So, yes, Waton is an economist.

It is really only materialist atheists who turn Mammon into a fetish object. Jesus is the strongest voice on the subject.

And here is Waton on Marx and social science:

Though great progress has been made in the social sciences, yet until the working class achieve its complete emancipation, Marx will remain the transcendent genius and leading light in the realms of social science. That this is not an idle prophecy is attested by the living facts. During the 19th century the cultured races brought out a large number of men of great eminence. One needs but mention Darwin, Huxley, Spencer, and many others to show how wonderful that age was. And amidst all of them was also Marx. Nevertheless, while the glory of the names of all other great men rapidly wanes, the glory of Marx rises ever higher and waxes ever more brilliant and comprehensive. And now, when the human race is passing through a great trial, the doctrines of Marx are the only ones that are of value to the struggling masses, and are the only ones that show the way to emancipation and salvation.--The Philosophy of Marx, p. 15

What's the difference, in the end?
If you don't know, then you're likely beyond help.

Teaching is the process of imparting knowledge about reality to an audience who are willing to learn something new about reality. It's typically a dialogue: The teacher provides information, the pupils respond with their new understanding, questions, concerns and even challenges to what has been taught, and the teacher than provides further information to correct any mistakes or misunderstandings, and to answer the questions and challenges that have been raised. Rinse and repeat.

Preaching is the process of stating opinions, without regard for whether they are being listened to, or whether they have any relationship with reality. It's a monologue: The preacher speaks and hopes that the congregation remains respectfully silent. Because it's not an interactive process, preaching can be (and usually is) a proxy process - the preacher uses not his own words, but those of some (typically long dead) authority, that the congregation are expected to accept as authoritative without question.

Perhaps it's the 'everyone will be Jewish' that may be an issue and the basis of Rabbi Waton being called a Jewish supremacist.

Weird, then, that his accusers don't like to dwell on that, but stick rather to quote mining his case.

Yet the 'mined quote' is representative of what you said about Rabbi Waton and everybody becoming Jewish.

Philosophizing as a pass time used to be the domain of the bourgeoisie who had enough money to be able to sit around philosophizing in a grand manner. Or the poor starving Bohemian who rehects materialsim. In our modern society with cheap global commiseration and social media it is now for everyone.

The freedom for an individual to be able to sit around philosophizing rests on all those paople working to prode the material support one needs to sit around philosophizing.
Electricity, food, water, computers, the Internet.

Somebody in rural Africa who has to walk miles to get water does not have much time to philosophize.

Does that mean we shouldn't philosophize even if we have the time and inclination?
I'll have to check with Watson...

I was referring to Robot's anti materialism views. One can pursue spiritual pursuits when one is not occupied with survival.

In our western liberal democracies we are all free to freely philosophize and theologize as we will. Would not have it any other way.

The alternatve are places like China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, and Russia.

No Robots: Its not about "becoming Jewish"...

Matt. 7. [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

There has to be a change in consciousness in order to become ONE with "The Father", and only THEN shall we be doing His will...

As I said, the dialectic is the key. A good preacher, like a good teacher, is a dialectician.

The idea is to elevate all mankind materially to the point that all have the freedom to philosophize.

The mined quotation that you provided eliminates the distinction Waton makes between Nazi conquest by force and Jewish conquest by love and reason.

It is Judaism that provides the only sure path to the ONE.

Yes, but the point of contention here is that ''everyone will be Jewish,'' however that is achieved. Which comes across as Rabbi Waton being a Jewish supremacist.
