• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Okay. But which economy would you rather be in? Trump or Biden?

I'm not sure how to answer this. I don't really know how well or badly the economy was doing under Brandon. And since Trump has been in office only a few months, it's hard to say how the economy will turn out. I'm not really one to study the economy closely.

Did 401k do better under Biden or Trump?

lol, obviously my retirement funds are taking a hit just now. I am not looking to see how big a hit, I'm too scared to look! I was toying with retiring at the end of this year but that is looking unlikely.
In 90+% of your posts you confidently assert as facts things which often are (not always) not facts, and then in 10-% of your posts, like this one, you admit to being ignorant about things that are obvious.
If you don't know obvious things (which is a trait of Trump BTW) then you should try to find out. It doesn't take much effort, as these facts are widely and easily available, specifically in many of the posts on this site.

Male bovine excrement.

The question "what economy I would rather be in? Trump or Biden?" is asking me for a preference, an opinion. I provided my opinion to HB. I don't know who rattled your cage and got you all riled up. I don't care about presidents and the economy. I know that throughout the Brandon tenure the economy wasn't exactly breaking records but the stock market was doing very well. And just about anybody will tell you, the stock market is NOT THE ECONOMY.

I know all I need to know about the economy. It is not that important to me that I need study the WSJ day after day. I'll leave that to you.

I see, a political campaign is "propaganda". Got it.
The way Rump runs it, and FauxNews reports it, YEAH.

Because you don't live here. So STFU.
You only post here for your JOB. Rabble rousing. stirring up shit.

I don't study the WSJ every day, though some people on this site may have such expertise. I would never say that I know all I need to know about the economy. When you say that you know all you need to know about a subject, and yet your knowledge in it is shallow, that is an admission that you don't know enough to make an informed judgment, and also that you don't want to know.
Therefore, any utterance you make relating to that subject is uninformed.

I have sufficient knowledge about the economy for my needs. Most people are not experts on the economy. Often times, the people held up as experts on a subject are indeed wrong.

My response to HB was entirely appropriate.

If you have to worry about money, you don’t live in Santa Monica (unless you’re crashing on Swiz’s doorstep with a bottle of Muscatel).
Having enough money that you can remain ignorant of economics without suffering, is a primary benefit of wealth.
Intellectual sloth is expensive, but some people can afford it.

Here is something you don't know. VIX measures volatility and instability. It peaked yesterday at the highest level since March 20, 2020. and the economic hassle that would be pandemic was clearer.

So the people that know the market are very nervous. Right now, the market is pausing on a plummet because of the "negotiations" that are allegedly going on and that these tariffs won't remain in place. The market understands how higher costs to everyone reducing corporate profits will lead to a recession, even if you don't. Fuck, Trump wants more production in the US while at the same time raising the costs on cement, steel, aluminum, and lumber. How in the fuck does that make sense?!
Often times, the people held up as experts on a subject are indeed wrong.
Can we call this one The Fool's Hedge?

It reminds of YEC'ers opening up with "I know nothing about geology, however... *insert wildly ignorant shit about geology*"

I am aware of this.

The stock market is not the economy.

Captain Obvious has entered the chat.

Then why are you feigning ignorance?
So the people that know the market are very nervous.
The stock market is not the economy.
The stock market is reacting to what will happen to the economy with a recession.

VIX is a stock market metric and gets mentioned a lot these days.

So the people that know the market are very nervous.
The stock market is not the economy.

Please welcome today's contestant, Captain Obvious. His specialist subject is "the bleedin' obvious".

Often times, the people held up as experts on a subject are indeed wrong.
Maybe; But if you lack the knowledge to determine which experts are "indeed wrong", then your opinion is worse than useless, and your wisest course would be to keep it to yourself.

Certainly responding to the opinions of those who, by your own claim, are better informed than you, will always be entirely inappropriate in such circumstances.

Does anyone else also see how moronic and contradictory it also is that Trump wants Ukraine's mineral wealth? Presumably the minerals will be sent to the US at a reduced price. If China were to do that he and his trade team would call it "dumping" and punish China for it.

Trump doesn't know what he's doing, though he might think he does. But he's also easily distracted by shiny objects.

The silver lining here is the part that says "with the cooperation of the Mexican government." As long as they have full permission, I'm not completely freaked out about it as I would be if they did it without permission. Sounds really dumb to me, and I worry about collateral damage, but it wouldn't rise to the level of outright hostile relations with Mexico itself with the proper permission and coordination.

I agree. These cartel people are slime of the lowest form.

In all actions Trump may take regarding Mexico, keep in mind the US is 80% of Mexico's export market. With Trump and his Putin-like tendencies, vassal state has to be in the back of Sheinbaum's mind.
