Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

solidly explaining why Trump appears to be insane to reasonable people.
Seems right but … Occam sez it’s because he’s insane.
Not insane. He is dumb, he is a sociopath, and he has generally gotten away with whatever bullshit he has put forth. He has OJ SImpson disease, in that he feels untouchable. Thanks to SCOTUS and the GOP, he is.
I hope a court finds that to be the case some day.
ETA: isn’t sociopathy a subset of insanity?
Or is sociopathy among the mental health “issues” exempt from that description?
If so … WHY?
You can bet that if that becomes Trump’s last line of defense, it will be.
Being a sociopath isn't the end of the world. It is the addition of the malignant narcissism that creates a concoction of dangerous proportions.
Being a sociopath and the POTUS could be the end of the world.

Gotta love this guy:

I'm impressed that Lawrence can still do this after all this time. Night after night of screaming into the void. Like there is some sliver of hope he sees that I don't.
Or it's a paycheck.

Hmm.

I posted this vid because I think it's quite apparent that he's risking his paycheck. And I don't ever post vids to political threads, or at the very least it is not normal for me. I do regret not adding any commentary or some kind of general idea of the video's content. Bilby's right about that.

In this climate, I think it's entirely possible that people as forthright and blunt as Lawrence could suffer major repercussions, not just the loss of a job. He's literally putting his ass on the line. It ain't like posting on social media or a message board. I commend his guts. And he's right.

I'd say in generally, most people have to have something wrong with them to want to be President. You need some sense of megalomania or sociopathic identity. How Jimmy Carter ever got to be President will be studied by Historians forever... and they'll never figure that out.

Trump's issue is his malignant narcissism is toxic. He doesn't care about the country at all. It is all about him and punishing those that dare tarnish his image. And he appears to of been given a blank check by the GOP.

Fair enough. I filled up on Lawrence O'Donnell during Trump TOS. I'll give it a listen... all the way through this time.

Do other old-timers here remember the good old days? I speak of 2024 when many Americans were saying "So what if the Doddering Dolt is re-elected? We endured him for 4 years with the only big problem being a million unnecessary Covid deaths." A few of us warned "No, no, with Agenda 2025 coming this will be much MUCH worse." I and similar nay-sayers were ridiculed on message-boards. After barely nine months things are already much worse than even we pessimists imagined. DoJ, HHS, NASA etc. etc. are all being decimated.

Trump is literally stealing money from states that voted for Kamala. And stealing from states that dare to elect two Democratic Senators. During Trump-45, he effectively destroyed millions of dollars worth of scientific experiments. Now he's taking the wrecking ball to whole departments; the irrevocable damage is already tens of billions and climbing.

We have 4 or 5 Trumplickers right here on this message-board. Few if any of them will admit to being Trumplickers, but I wonder if ANY of them will dare comment on the on-going tragedies. Nah, they'll just keep warning about "caliphates" and babbling about the "need" for 17 different genders of bathroom.

When on vacation or furlough, government workers are encouraged to create an auto-reply "I am on vacation" for their government e-mail account. Supervisors may suggest wordings, but the actual message is set by the employee.

What do you think of this one? :--

Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Unfortunately, Democratic Senators are blocking passage of H.R. 5371 in the Senate, which has led to a lapse in appropriations. Due to the lapse in appropriations, I am currently in furlough status. I will respond to emails once the government functions resume.

The partisan wording in this message is a violation of the Hatch Act. The employee sending this message can be fined up to $1000, suspended or removed and/or barred from government employment for up to five years.

So, are millions of federal employees now in violation of the Hatch Act? These messages were forced upon the e-mail accounts without the consent or knowledge of the "I/me" ostensibly blaming Democrats. Some employees tried to revert the illegal message to their previous "I am on furlough" message, but the illegal message was quickly restored.

What do our Trumplickers think of all this? I know what they'll say: -- Something more or less like "Of course we disapprove but isn't it wonderful that the Voodoo worshippers in Ohio have stopped eating the cats and dogs."

I'm no one's optimist, but even I was shocked by how quickly they moved putting troops in American cities, building overseas concentration camps, firing half the government, and scrubbing history from the history signage at history parks. The beginning of his term is looking like what I was expecting from the end of his term, or at least past the midterm election. That they feel this confident of their support is deeply worrying to me.

Major General Paul Eaton didn't hold back...

"The National Guard, when federalized, is no different from the active force. As a retired Soldier, I am calling this out for what it is - and what others who have served surely recognize - a horrifying misuse of our military,” the retired Major General began.
"Using the National Guard has become a pattern for Trump. This isn't the first time or city we've seen this tactic used, but it needs to be the last.. Using the military to create political theater as a means of distraction is nothing more than intimidation. Make no mistake - the deployment of active duty Marines and federalized California National Guard in Los Angeles was blatant political intimidation, as well,” Eaton continued.
"Right now, Republicans are lying about abysmal job numbers and trying to gerrymander Texas because they can't run on their record. The National Guard should not be called upon to pose for photographs and intimidate residents to make Trump look tough on crime,” the VoteVets advisor angrily pointed out.
"Trump himself refused to activate the Guard when our Capitol was under attack; he should be embarrassed he is activating them now - specifically in blue state cities - to be the shiny object during an already failed presidency,"

Fuck the idiots who fell for the third rate PROVEN huckster.

Yeah he still has the full throated support of a lot of people in here. I’ve seen no dip in support, just a lot of cognitive dissonance, sane splaining apologetics, scapegoating, etc…

Oregon Attorney General files lawsuit about National Guard.

The lawsuit — which names Trump, Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as defendants — argues that the president’s “provocative and arbitrary actions threaten to undermine public safety by inciting a public outcry.”

“The facts cannot justify this overreach,” according to attorneys for Oregon and the city of Portland.

While the administration’s rhetoric appears focused on ongoing protests outside an ICE facility, the crowd has diminished in recent weeks, and protests have “not necessitated any arrests since mid-June,” according to the lawsuit.

But Trump’s “heavy-handed deployment of troops threatens to escalate tensions and stokes new unrest,” with recently deployed law enforcement forced to respond “to the predictable consequences” of the president’s actions, the complaint states.

A federal judge earlier this month determined that the administration illegally deployed military assets into the Los Angeles area in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which prohibits the military from enforcing domestic law.

Oregon officials are similarly arguing that the president’s “patently unlawful” threats are in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, as well as Tenth Amendment protections ensuring that police authority rests with the states, not the federal government.

FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday fired an agent in training for displaying a gay pride flag on his desk while appointed to a field office in California last year, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The trainee, who previously worked as an FBI support specialist in Los Angeles, received a letter — dated Oct. 1 and signed by Patel — claiming he had displayed an improper “political” message in the workplace during his assignment in California under President Joe Biden, according to a copy of the letter shared with MSNBC.

The letter cited President Donald Trump’s Article II powers under the Constitution to dismiss federal agency career personnel, a justification used in several recent firings at the Department of Justice and FBI. The terminations are currently being challenged in several lawsuits.

“After reviewing the facts and circumstances and considering your probationary status, I have determined that you exercised poor judgment with an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area during your previous assignment in the Los Angeles Field Office."

FBI DIRECTOR KASH PATEL
"You are being summarily dismissed from your position as a New Agent Trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and removed from the federal service," read the letter, which was sent on the first day of a nationwide government shutdown that created job uncertainty throughout the federal workforce.

The former director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas, said on Thursday that he was told to “resign or be fired” from his post after refusing to give the Trump administration a historic sword.

Todd Arrington’s resignation came shortly after Arrington refused to relinquish one of President Eisenhower’s swords from the museum’s collection. President Trump’s administration wanted to give one of the artifacts as a gift to King Charles III on Trump’s most recent state visit to the United Kingdom.

Arrington said his direct superior informed him on Monday evening that he would be asked to resign. The supervisor, who Arrington declined to name, said he was passing down orders from unknown higher-ups.

All Arrington heard is that he “could no longer be trusted with confidential information” due to conduct related to the sword disagreement.

“I was obviously shocked and saddened and heartbroken,” Arrington said in an interview with the Kansas News Service. “I have almost 30 years of government service. I've never had a bad mark against me.”

The National Archives and Records Administration, which operates presidential libraries like Eisenhower’s, replied to a Kansas News Service inquiry with an automated message that said it was closed due to the U.S. government shutdown that began Wednesday. The White House Press Office sent a similar message.

I’m sure a room full of military men hardened by combat were impressed by a nigh octogenarian bragging about how carefully he walks down stairs.
