What comes next after the Trump win?

Not a word about reconciliation from him - all he knows how to do is to divide people and feed off the division.

House appears to be heading to be remaining in GOP control. CA has a considerable number of ballots to go through, but other places, the GOP is flipping seats. They knew where to hit the Democrats. How can one of the dumbest fuckers to ever be President, have such an incredibly adept machine behind him. Or are they just getting lucky with male angst? Hitting too many bulleyes to consider it luck. Which then makes me wonder, how did the Dems pull off 2022?

With the tri-fecta and fewer adults left in the GOP, they are a filibuster eraser away from passing whatever the fuck they want.
We still do not know if the Republican's have the house yet but if it ends up red, they have won about as hard as you can win. So there should be no excuses whatsoever for the border now if it under their complete control.

This thread has devolved into so much conspiracy level cope and dystopia Kim jong-un level nonsense. The polling cross tabs were predictive about atheists. I still don't understand the strong correlation- other than many atheists found a new type of group think around a progressive agenda.

Just posting here to date the crazy predictions for next November, when none of it proves true... but perhaps some can say to wait another year...then another... I'll wait.

Right. He found out with Birthergate that spewing ridiculous lies had no downside for him. He found out when he called immigrants "Drug dealers and rapists with, I assume, some very fine people" that there was no downside -- they'll even make ya President! Now, of course, this is his cruising speed. Scream "They're eating the cats and dogs!" and those who love you will think it's the media that's crazy for asking you to prove what you say. He's picked out an enemies list, the groups who are taking all the FEMA cash, the groups who are doing gender surgeries on school kids, the groups who will walk right into your kitchen and stab you, the groups who are taking the Black Jobs, etc., etc. He has tapped into a mean streak in his base, a desire to belittle, harm, banish, nullify some marginalized groups so that -- somehow -- all our problems will vanish.

Eta: you'd think that a hush money NDA would not be suggested as a legal campaign expense. I'd think the exact opposite. I'm sure had he charged his campaign, they would have also brought charges of fraud. It was a no win. He defilitely should not have cheated but most presidents aren't known for fidelity. It isnt a crime.
If he had paid for it out of his own pocket there would not have been an issue. But Trump always wants others to pay his bills. For god's sake, he used charity money to pay for his kid's five dollar Boy Scout membership.

They had complete control 4 years ago!

Trump comes up for sentencing on 11/22. How will his win effect that?

Yeah...about that...

Merchan contemplating rolling over for Trump

"I’m told that his legal team is going to try to make sure that sentencing never happens. As we know, their usual strategy is always to just try to get things delayed. But here they’re going to argue to the judge that the sentencing should never happen because now that Trump is president-elect, they will say that he is entitled to the same constitutional protections as a sitting president and should be protected from state actors and in this case, state prosecutors and the judge overseeing that case, Judge Juan Merchan.

He’s giving himself a deadline of November 12th to decide if the conviction against Trump should be tossed based on the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on immunity. If he tosses the conviction, there’ll be no sentencing. But if that sentencing continues to go forward, this is the argument that the Trump team is going to make."

I'm pulling my universe in closer and trying to avoid the wave of comments from men about how our bodies are now theirs forever. This will be an era of unprecedented harassment, abuse, and killing of women. I don't even have words for what I'm feeling right now. And I'm surrounded by liberal, progressive men who will straight up high five a fucking Nazi in solidarity against a woman saying things they don't like. Well, I do have one word - despair.

I appreciate your pain. Despair is widespread among many groups. The White Christian Nationalists seem to have taken control of every branch of government , and those men you cite as supporting them better toe the line or they, too, will lose what rights they still have.

Quoting someone word for word on what their plans are is not engaging in conspiracy theorizing, even if they don't manage to do all those things. Agenda 47 and Project 2025 are public documents, you can read them yourself.

Oh, and now they are starting to admit that Project 2025 is what they plan to do

Yeah, pass me the fucking fainting salts. My congratulations to the Republican Party for the worst held secret of all time.
Just like all those Supreme Court appointees who testified in front of Congress that they believed Roe was the established law of the land

And why do you think they are not going to do what they say they're going to do?

This isn't group think, it's simply paying attention to what they have been saying.

You mean like build a wall and make Mexico pay for it? Or repeal Obamacare and replace it with something much better?

Tax cuts will be a thing. The bigger concern is the competence being brought this time around regarding Executive Branch management. This is the part that worries me as they are promising to effectively break the system down to install loyalists. Bureaucracies need people that understand the bureaucracy. The executive branch management might not have the firewall of Congress to protect the system.

Isn't this the oddest part of the far right-wing's argument. Oh... he didn't mean that literally. Even though "that" is exactly what they support and want him to do.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to lead with George W Bush-esque nonsense speak.
President Elect Donald Trump said:
We obviously have to make the border strong and powerful and, and we have to — at the same time, we want people to come into our country. And you know, I’m not somebody that says, 'No, you can’t come in.' We want people to come in.
I always find it incredible how he talks. He doesn't actually say anything substantive. He loves big adjectives. Make the border "strong and powerful". What the fuck does that even mean?!

Yeah, Biden isn't the best speaker and politicians have a tendency to speak is broad terms, but Trump abuses the privilege.

Let's face it, the only positive result of '25-'29 will be if Trump doesn't launch nukes. He has a toddler's fascination with death and destruction. In his semi-sane (relatively speaking) term ('17-'21), he promised Kim that he could 'totally destroy' North Korea with, if I remember the phrase, fire and fury such as the world has never seen. Nukes are his ultimate prize in the toy box. He's a guy who'd never heard of the nuclear triad in '16, and asked his advisors why we have nukes but don't ever seem to use them. Anyone taking bets?
