What kind of scene would be at a show like that? Neat music, just wondering what a crowd would consist of. Probably a mix right
I'm assuming you're replying to my above post.
It wasn't really a "show" with a "scene." The video I linked wasn't the performance I saw, but gives you an idea of how they sound in person.
The group was on what is called a radio tour. In the country music industry, newly signed acts go out on a tour of radio stations, playing their songs for program directors, music directors, employees of country radio stations, and in some instances listeners who are lucky enough to attend the performance. Stations have been lately building out performance spaces for these mini-shows, but in the past they've been done in conference rooms, on-air studios, and production studios or even offices.
The artist/act comes in, plays a few songs for whatever audience is available, and hopes that they make a connection strong enough to get their debut single added to the rotation at the station. It is record promotion the old-fashioned way. Play your songs acoustically for the people who have the power to play your songs to a wider audience. It is a sort of trial by fire.
And if those people you play for are won over by your performance and put your song on the radio, it can still crash and burn. In fact it most often does. For every artist that comes through on these radio tours and goes onto success, there are many who never break through. Not for lack of talent, mind you. I see this stuff on a regular basis, which is why your conspiracy theories about the sinister power of record labels falls flat for me.
