Which movie did you watch today and how would you rate it?

Just saw A House of Dynamite, about the launching of a nuclear missile at the U.S. Highly recommended. The ending caught me completely off guard and was perfect.

It's funny. The older we get, the more we appreciate good storytelling and suspense in film. The kids OTOH, hated this movie because

they didn't get their big explosion and post apocalypse finale.

It's a shame. I blame superhero movies and the overindulgence in SFX and big, flashy set pieces. Is it really too much to ask the viewer to use their imagination?

I did see this year’s Superman and it is rollicking good fun, a comic book brought to the big screen. Saw the first two Supes movies with Christopher Reeve and a couple of Batman movies, but that is it for this genre.
