The only question was whether they should consist of unelected and medically untrained insurance company staff; or a panel of medical professionals and elected officials.

The USA chooses the former, while the developed world has the latter.

And when the resources are no longer constrained by cash, but instead by elasticity of supply, the USA gets both.

This morning it was reported that a baby, a nine year old and a fifteen year old died of covid. I don't remember where but they were all in the south.
