Yet another war, this time with Iran

Under Part V of the Untied Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), The Strait of Hormuz is divided into two parts; The Northern part being in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Iran, and the Southern part in the EEZ of Oman.
Iran is under assault by a nuclear power. Their capital and infrastructure has been bombed. Their top leadership murdered.

I see no reason for them to care about the opinions of the Untied Nations clutching their pearls.

These shit for brains running this war can’t even feed our sailors and marines.

They can’t get mail to them. Utter incompetence and piss poor planning and execution. All of these issues should have been anticipated but I suspect that this administration just decided to do it at the last minute and didn’t properly prepare, war game or other planning. Fucking shit heads.

WOW. I'm not too surprised about the mail. But not having sufficient food on the ships is really surprising.

Iran is breaking the law. They also sponsor terror groups like the ones that led to the Oct 7th massacre.

It's complicated.

All they talk about is care packages from home. I think. I had to start skimming that hot mess of garbage. That says fuck all about why the ships aren't transiting in and out of the gulf to do underway replenishments for the ship's food. Sailors don't live off of packages from home.
And another thing, the cost of shipping is from your home to the San Francisco Fleet Post Office. From there it's gratis.
P.S.: I remember the ship being down to powdered eggs and bug juice. Green bug juice, the one we used to clean brass.

1. What difference does it make whether US is a "nuclear power" if no nuclear weapons are used, not even the Davy Crocket?
2. Iran is not currently under assault. Trump Always Chickens Out.
3. Iran has been at war against the US (aka "Great Satan") since 1979. Not just the occupation hostage taking at our embassy, but Beirut (1983) and Khobar Towers (1996) attacks were also conducted by organs of the IRGC. Reagan should have overtly attacked Iran back in 1983.

Yes to the first, but Khamenei has not been "murdered" any more than Yahya Sinwar was.

UN has been a joke for a long time, but for completely different reason.
Example: 'Moral absurdity': US, Israel outraged as Iran elected as Vice-Chair of UN Charter Committee

Mail deliveries are always ….interesting for deployed service members. When my son was deployed to a very remote area, it was months between arrival Abd the first air drop of mail, which contained months of mail from home, basic supplies requested by soldiers of their families—we sent lots beef jerky, wipes, protein bars, etc. along with toiletries, flavor packets fur water, blah blah.

Yes, I think this entire administration is incompetent but this is not as big an aberration as you would think or hope.

Soldiers do life in large part off of packaged from home. Which is why we sent tons of stuff because we had no idea who was getting stuff from home or how freque the packages were delivered. Officially: sure, there was food but the first time we heard from our son it was via his CO’s satellite phone and he specifically asked for protein bars, jerky, flavor packets, stuff like that. They were remote enough they were air dropped in ( the soldiers).

Please. I don’t think you understand what the words ‘at war’ mean any more than Trump.

Written by someone who lived through all of that, some of it pretty close to home.

Occupying our embassy, taking embassy personnel hostage, and bombing our soldiers are certainly acts of war.

Yeah, it depends where you’re at but there is usually, as long as there is a base, some geedunk store available. On board ship, it’s the ship’s store for chips, candy, toiletries, etc.

But how can the navy be so badly run that the ships are running out of food? Good food is at least as important as the mail.

I'd think that sailors would accept that the mail is delayed. It seems reasonable that mail is delayed in war. But the ships food? What the fuck with resupply?

Where he was deployed: no base as you mean it, no place to go get something to eat. It was pretty grim. Their water supply was bottled water covered in ambient dust. Their toilet was pvc pipe for urination, half of a barrel with a board on it as a seat for bowel movements.

The Iran hostage crisis ended in January 1981.

Or to put it another way, the piss poor whataboutism Derec provided is older than *ALL* of Trump's adult children.

It's not that complicated. About 20% of the US military is black. About 17% is female. Both these groups are weighted toward the lower ranks. In other words, the people who do the actual work. This is the demographic which has been devalued by the current command. I don't think any private enterprise in the US could maintain productivity under the same circumstances. It means reenlistments of experienced people are dropping, leaving more work for those who remain. Think about that for a moment. The US economy is crashing, so the people most likely to leave the military are those confident they can get a good job in the civilian market. In other words, the best trained and most qualified.

What's more, it means management is falling on the shoulders of white men who got the promotions and responsibilities over more qualified people. It's no surprise to see ships running out of food and God only knows where the mail is.

It’s probably more simple than that: Billions of dollars are flooding the military budget. But those billions of dollars are being spent on hard equipment, not food. Because that’s who ( some of) Trump’s biggest supporters are: the military industrial complex. Profit margins on food are extremely low. Troops, in Trump’s opinion, as he has so eloquently expressed, are suckers. Why feed them? There’s no profit and they’re going into danger anyway plus there’s no photo op, like with Hegseth’s elaborate lobster dinners. Troops are expendable.

And when exactly is this regime change going to happen?
What would be necessary is weakening of IRGC, along with coordinating with opposition elements inside Iran.
Possibly, regular military could eventually join the opposition and against IRGC.
What actions are yet to be undertaken by the American military to implement this change?
Unfortunately, TACO likely does not have the persistence to keep pressure on the Regime.
So basically this won’t happen. A major fuck-up on Trump’s part that will gain nothing and killed a lot of people including a school full of children.

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10 day ceasefire.
But will Hezbollah honor it?
Israel wants to wipe Hezbollah off the face of the earth. It is literally one of their non-negotiables. But it's good to know you think Israel is as reliable as a known terrorist organisation. That's progress of a sort I guess.
Unfortunately it's a mutual admiration society.
Israel wants to wipe Hezbollah off the face of the earth.

And poor Lebanon in the middle.
