Twitter likely to take idiots offer to buy them for $43 billion

Why are liberals not allowed to have opinions.
Who said they were not?

Musk bought a massive social media company (rarely ever a good investment), for a premium (even worse) to deal with alleged censorship (which really doesn't exist).

Of course the censorship exists. Just because you don't personally fall foul of it does not mean Twitter doesn't censor people.
1) A single person shouldn't have this much wealth, where they can buy a company for over $40 billion... on a whim.

Well, a single person does have that much wealth.
2) The people supporting this maneuver are giddy that Trump will be unleashed again, a guy that violated the companies terms and conditions by egging on an insurrection that got people killed.

Trump did not egg on an insurrection, and if you don't want to read Trump's tweets, block him.
3) It is a bad investment. Flat out, but alt-right boners be swelling... when they are already allowed to post on Twitter.

And the Babylon Bee is trash! Seriously, what is with the right-wing and their inability to understand humor?

So, why are you so bothered that it's a bad investment?

And why do you appear to believe Twitter does not censor people?

If Twitter isn't guilty of widespread censorship, then Musk's plans to open it up won't make a difference, will it? Why so upset?
The fundamental problem is that as it stands Twitter bans the calls for violence and the like and bans bots as they can be identified. They're trying to keep the place clean. Opening it up means welcoming the trash, it will quickly turn into a hatefest and that will tend to drive others away.
Only somebody who does not use Twitter would fail to realise even with Twitter's 'trust and safety council', Twitter is already toxic cesspit.

However, Twitter selectively enforces it's "hate speech" and "misinformation" censoring. I've said this before: there are two sure-fire ways to get banned from Twitter. Be Donald Trump or "misgender" somebody.

The one thing I'm imagining is how cool the alt-right would be with Bill Gates buying Twitter.

The alt-right is in pwnage mode with the liberals on this, when the liberals are more concerned about one guy buying a huge company, at a wasteful premium, on a whim, and the control that means for a single person.
Again with the "wasteful premium" complaint. Did you loan Musk the money? Why are you so concerned that he paid too much? Are you worried he won't be able to pay the lecky bill?

If you start with the premise that he shouldn't rightfully own his wealth, and that it should be tightly controlled by the "good" people in government, then you start to think you have a say in what other people do with their own money.

That way you can justify your opposition instead of having to say what you really think which in the case of many here is "but he won't censor people I don't like and I don't really have free speech of they also have free speech."

Like I said, this is complete horseshit. All Twitter did was enforce the rules we all agreed to when we walked into their bar.
Twitter (and other major social media companies) have, by virtue of their size and market penetration, a position quite unlike bars.

Also, I do not have a problem with Twitter having reasonable rules, as long as they are applied in a consistent manner.
Twitter moderation is a mess - if Musk manages to fix it, so much the better. Why are y'all so hostile to him even attempting to do it?

I go by the definition of African American, Trausti. You should too. It does not deny Elon Musk's identity. You're just applying the wrong label.
So what label would you use for somebody who is from Africa but immigrated to US? We already have a good word for those who are black - i.e. "black". African-American should apply to recent African ancestry regardless of skin color.

I don't remember being hostile to it. What I am sick and fucking tired of is so called free speech warriors crying about moderation and equating it to censorship. They can go and get fucked.

Lies, not opinions. The stuff that will get your account zapped isn't a matter of opinion, it's about clear falsehoods.
BS. People regularly get send to "Twitter jail" for un-PC opinions, e.g. about Leah Thomas.
Even worse is the tendency of people to sick their followers to mass report certain tweets and get them suspended that way. That has been done to me for daring to post something pro-Israel on the #gaza hashtag during one of the past armed conflicts. I hadn't violated any rules - like threats etc. , but was suspended anyway. Note that at that time, Hamas was still a member in good standing.

It's a QOP claim that it's politically biased. Their actual bias is towards facts over deception. It's just the QOP positions have little to do with facts.
Not true. You should be able to post pro-Israel opinions, or opinions on either side of a controversy like trans-women in competitive sports without being suspended or banned.

When you have a platform as wide-reaching and powerful as our major social media companies, the difference between capricious and biased moderation and censorship is a distinction without a difference.

Just a quick note. Tesla started in 2003. Musk invested 6.5 million in 2004. He became CEO in 2008. Production of the first Tesla car began in 2009. Musk did not create an electric car company from scratch. Others did that.
He did not start it from scratch, but he did get it very early. I think he deserves credit.
He did start SpaceX, however.

We already have a good word for those who are black - i.e. "black".
It's a word, but not a good word, due to the negative connotations associated with it that lead people to feel insulted by its use. The same problem arises to an even greater extent with other words, such as negro or nigger, both of which "only" mean "black" - but obviously don't only mean "black".

Wishing that everyone was happy with simple labels to which no complicating overtones have become attached is not going to make it so. That's why there are a lot of different words with identical core definitions, but subtle and important differences in tone, in many areas of the English language. Another good example is the myriad words for our genitalia.

In short, we do not already have a good word for African-American; we already have a load of words of varying degrees of badness.

Reality is complicated. It's not improved by pretending that it isn't.

As is burning down businesses and government buildings and other tactics #BLM and Antifa have used for years, especially in 2020.

But not murdering people with your vehicle...
I don't recall you claiming terrorism after the Charlottesville "protest".
Such hypocrisy on display...
Again - thanks for "playing". But what is and is not technical "terrorism" is irrelevant to the single important salient fact:
Right wing operatives acting on behalf of the Republican Party attempted to nullify the votes of 81 million Americans and install a dictator, abolishing American democracy.

But you're worried about "property damage". Extremely small-minded IMHO.
Somehow right wingers seem unable to discern the difference between property damage and the overthrow of a free and fair election.
I do not claim any ability to rectify the mental deficiencies in play with the right wing extremist "mind", and absent any cure, rendering a diagnosis would be pointless.
