Yup. GQP is now nothing but one gigantic grift. Trump showed them the way, and they have bought in 100%. Now they’ll dump Trump, but keep on grifting just as he taught them. I don’t see that party ever again becoming a viable vehicle of governance. Just a power-grabbing mechanism for bringing in more $$$.

You say this like it's only the Republicans.

Over the last 20 years the DNC has had opportunities to promote and pass legislation. Legislation concerning reproductive freedom, immigration reform, marriage equality, UHC, to name a few.

But they haven't. They don't want those fund raising opportunities to go away either.

BTW, marriage equality would not have passed 20 years ago. Society has evolved somewhat in that regard.

Before I begin to care about what is on that laptop,
somebody's going to have to give me a credible explanation for why a rich guy would leave a laptop full of sensitive information with a political enemy.

Much less abandon the laptop there.

First of all, he initially left it with a laptop repair place, not a political enemy. If you saw the video clips Hunter recklessly made of himself with hookers and buying drugs, you would have no problem believing him forgetting to pick up his laptop. In an interview, he claims to not even know for sure it was his, but forensics established that it was. He even claimed he smoked parmesan cheese, thinking it was cocaine! The guy, at least at one time, was a total train wreck.

Thanks I appreciate that. As I said once before, you are an exemplary example of how people should behave on this forum. That said, I'm really just answering Tom's question, in an albeit, rather direct manner. I don't have much opinion at this point whether there's any "there" there, but a few questionable things have come out of it. Perhaps its something, perhaps nothing. I don't know. I'm not trying to convince you or anyone that you should or should not care about it.

Well, I feel that if there was anything damning on it, that Rudy would have leaked it a long time ago. I should be a republican. I'm middle aged, a business owner. Very entrepreneurial. Hate taxes. Capitalist pig. Support the police. And etc. But there are so many problems right now: war in Europe, potential war with China, supply chain chaos, inflation, labor shortage, and etc. And yet, the republicans are focused on Hunter, Trans rights, and voodoo voter fraud! The republicans could be in real trouble in 2024 if this continues to be their focus. Just my opinion!

He's the one who asked me to join the staff. I agreed to to do so, a decision I've come to regret.
Seriously regret.

I wish I hadn't added the target "staff" to my front when I already had the target "conservative" on my back.

But he was staff at the time. He sent me the PM, titled simply "moderation". "about a thousand threads"? What the fuck are you talking about

I have always found that staff post the same way while serving as ( volunteer) moderators they did before and after their stint as mods. I greatly appreciate that—I don’t feel I have to post only a certain way if I’m in a discussion which includes a moderator or moderators.

OTOH, I’ve found moderators to address issues in a very measured, even handed manner—even if I am not being very measured or rational.

I greatly appreciate that as well.
 
For the slow of thinking: Unless he's changed his position, Zipr is the owner, but he doesn't moderate or really even abt as admin, although he often "represents" the board, lime when inviting new staff.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but he's posted basically to that effect many times.

Yup. I do add my two cents to moderation sometimes to keep things moving along but the mods themselves always have the final say.
