Merged So what's next for Trump?

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
The big donors are eventually going to get behind whoever the Republican nominee is, and that's going to be Trump again because he's the biggest bully, the biggest bigot, and the most authoritarian, and that's what the base wants.

It was very disheartening to see the turn-out for tRump's last rally. WE are doomed if this wide spread.

I don't see it that way, exactly.
The turn out is yet more evidence that the Republican Party is stuck with Trump.

He got his ass kicked in the 2020 election. His last few years devoted to grifting and felony charges probably haven't improved his electability. He's the best Republican nominee, from the standpoint of a straight ticket Democrats voter.

I like that analysis. Trump's hard core -- the folks that wear their MAGA hats to the grocery store -- have been consistently about a third of the electorate for years. I haven't read anything that indicates their numbers are swelling. Independents who voted for DJT in '16 because he spoke in torrents and seemed to them to be a fresh new thing have had 8 years to see the full range of his immaturity and instability. For Trump to win, he'd need some external events to draw in large numbers of independent voters next year. The only external events that seem imminent at this point are more arrests and trials for our boy.

I'd be interested to see an accurate estimate of the attendance. According to Fragilego Mussolini, 75k people showed up to his event in little Pickens, SC. I am...skeptical.

The local police chief put it at possibly up to 50k, but...

Maybe not...
Pre-rally estimates of 10,000 to 30,000 were made. During his remarks, Trump claimed the turnout was 75,000. Beach said he needed to get an accurate count from the Secret Service before providing a final number. Around 11 a.m., a secret service agent told the News there are 5,000 inside the gate and approximately 10,000 still in line.

I can see 10-15 thousand. In fact in my old career I had been onstage in front of 10 to 15 thousand people at music festivals. Fifty or 75 thousand? That's a whole different level. If you were expecting 10 or 15 and 50 or 75k showed up, your little venue and your little town would be overwhelmed.

Yes, Trump has hard-core fans who will drop everything and go to a rally. That's depressing, but I also think it's telling that Trump isn't exactly playing major market venues. He's drawing crowds in deep red rural areas, but in a lot of ways, he's like that 80s rock band that used to fill stadiums, but has been reduced to playing the state fair circuit. If Trump tried to hold a rally at the (fill in sponsor here) Stadium, it would be a bust. So he's targeting places like Pickens, SC and playing fairgrounds.

According to wiki Pickens is a town with a grand total of 3,000 people. Do they have a venue that can hold so many people?

If they had 50,000 we should see pictures of it. The ones I see son far don’t make me think 50,000.

I know nothing about Pickens. But a small community near me has a venue that could. It's an open air amphitheater in a big park.
The town is bigger than 3K, but it isn't big. The park is a huge floodplain, in the middle is an artificial hill with a stage on it. It happens.

Because I absolutely hate myself I lurk at some far right forums. Q-tards are talking up the rally, but no one is posting pictures of the crowd. And if the crowd is bigger than the town at least there'd be some parking shenanigans. All I've seen is Pickens inhabitants renting out their front lawn for parking for $100, but I haven't seen any evidence of anybody taking them up on it. There is also talk Trump didn't want to have the rally at Clemson University (15 min drive from Pickens according to google) which could easily house the amount of people Trump is claiming turn up.

I was looking for pictures, too. It matters to me me if he still has stadium-sized crowds so I went looking for whether that was evident. The only pictures I saw were right in front of a sgage, with a very thin crowd at the perimeter of the picture suggesting there wasn’t a whole bunch more out of the frame. So I don’t see difinitive evidence for a small crowd, but I see no evidence for a large one.

Long ago there was a scientology event where they posted pictures of the ‘full’ auditorium. The picture was pretty good resolution, which made it easy to see that sections of the audience had been copy/pasted to fill it up. Like the guy with half a head being a good indicator. And large parts of the balcony section were just blacked out.

i think the only reason we are not seeing something like this for Trump is people would see through it too easily.

For Trump to win a free and fair election, he'd need some external events to draw in large numbers of independent voters next year.
FIFY

I don’t think he has any plans to win a free and fair election. As usual, the exact opposite of what he says is the truth; if Trump wins, it will be due to election fraud. More likely there will be another insurrection. With a lot of luck maybe it will be put down properly this time.

I don’t know about that. Trumpsuckers aren’t exactly known for being hard to fool.

As stated earlier the Secret Service put the crowd size at 15K, saying there were 5K inside the perimeter and 10K outside the perimeter. Orange Blowhole had another 60K lodged in his tiny head. I don't know why he just didn't say the crowd was well over a million. Why not just go for the whole enchilada?

For the same reason that the 1/3 Lb burger failed; Murkins are innumerate. SIXTY THOUSAND is way bigger than a million.
In fact SIXTY THOUSAND is bigger than “a” anything.

Of course, just like most Scientologists wouldn’t believe the fact the picture was badly photoshopped. But the doctored pictures wouldn’t be for them, it would be PR to try and fool those that are not part of the cult. Trupmsuckers are fooled by a sharpie on a hurricane map

5k to 10k? One could argue 2k to 5k. 10k is over a half full arena!

The venue is very narrow.

Here is a good indication as well. I'm not shrinking, because I think the thinning of the crowd in the back is a good indicator that is where the back end of the crowd is. And that crowd is a couple thousand at the very most. (subsequent photos show this just the front, so just multiple 2k here by three or four and that gets us to 8k.

Newsweek has a fact check.

They peg 20k to 30k as the max possible.
