What's the animal in the middle?

It's a wombat.

They're a burrowing animal with the strength and manoevrability of an armoured vehicle, and if your car hits one, you'll likely be walking home.

They usually present more of a hazard to motorists by undermining the roads so they collapse as you drive over; This will also result in you walking home, but with less damage to the wombat. Who is probably hiding nearby, sniggering.

Every second year or so I catch up with some mates and head down to Perisher to attempt to do some skiing. On the highway down to Jindi you see a never ending line of wombat roadkill painted orange (here's why). One year driving down we saw someone put a wombat on a lawnchair, put sunnys and a hat on it and gave it a beer. We all had a laugh because we are very bad people.
