Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

$9.49/dozen
Twice, now.
The cheapest ones were $4.99. That’s for small ones with yellow yolks and runny whites, vs large eggs with orange yolks and whites that don’t spread out in the pan.
The expensive ones are a better “deal” IMHO.

California here. How much did you pay? I need a a good laugh to start my day.
I paid $6.50 for an 18 pack of grade A large.
I think our WalMart has the 18 flats at that same price. But we avoid buying food from Walmart other than packaged/canned/frozen stuff. Their produce and “fresh” food isn’t as good as it looks, and it looks pretty bad.

Yup. I rarely shop at Wally World.

I stopped shopping at Walmart. First they cause you to check your own stuff out because there are only one or two lanes open, then the on guard employee at the self check out diligently ogles over your shoulder at every step. Then on your way out the so-called greeter ogles and stares and spies into your cart and nods with a suspicious nonchalance which makes you think they think you might be a thief.

Fuck Walmart.

I have no choice - or no reasonable choice for a lot of things. There is a garden shop a mile further down the road that is super nice and super expensive. I buy seeds from them. But pots, potting soil, hoses and watering, digging tools, planting trays, peat pots - all that stuff is half the cost at WalMart for the same stuff - and a mile closer to home. Same story for a lot of clothing, hand tools, small kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners, low end electronics … too easy but
I am figuring out how to use Walmart. Might as well, since I subsidize their pricing in other ways whether I want to or not; they negotiated a real sweetheart deal with the city and county. My business partner was in the City council when they built their new SuoerCenter at the edge of City limits. They never build better or nicer than contracts require, and my partner thought we should have held them up for their “A” level plan. But damn - they are really good at what they do, small town killers that they are.

So I bought some Walmart stock about a year and a half ago… it was around $50 and now it’s in the 90s. They’re probably well positioned to move their sourcing around to avoid the China debacle. So I’ll probably hang onto it. It was over a hundred before president shitforbrains attacked the economy.

But their “fresh” food sucks.

$14.39 for an 18 pack at my store. 😳

My sister sells eggs for $3.50/dozen.

I'm looking at buying a couple cows directly from the farm. It's time to start the garden. I'm skipping some things that are too cheap to grow. Like potatoes. I get more fresh vegetables and garlic then we can eat all summer from my little landscape garden.

When you grow your own, you realize sucky all store produce sucks. There's a farmer's produce stand that's not bad. They sell to 2 local stores in the neighborhood if we're to lazy to drive to their stands. I use them to fill in the gaps if certain things don't grow well any given year.

I came to despise Walmart when it first moved to town here. I hate shopping there.

But credit where it's due. They were the most hard core supporters of anti COVID measures in town, from the beginning. For months you couldn't get in without proving you had a mask by putting it on. The lobby had a hand sanitizer stand which the greeters encouraged shoppers to use, and there were several more scattered around the store. Since I usually went there with my elderly, high risk, mother-in-law I appreciated that a bunch.

The White House has begun the process of looking for a new secretary of defense, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

Turns out a DUI hire isn't such a good idea after all.

But who will replace him? Tucker Carlson? Laura Loomer?

Yes, Hegseth got the "Doing a great job" kiss of death. It shouldn't be hard to find a replacement, it isn't like they looked hard to begin with. I'm waiting for Robert E. Lee to get the call up. People have been saying good things about him recently.

Trump has already begun his thorough vetting process using his TV remote.
