Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Intolerance of grift will not be tolerated!
article said:
President Donald Trump issued a pardon on Monday for a former Virginia sheriff who was convicted last year of federal bribery charges, averting prison time for the officer.

"Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his wife Patricia, and their family have been dragged through HELL," Trump posted online, issuing a full and unconditional pardon. "He will NOT be going to jail tomorrow, but instead will have a wonderful and productive life."

Jenkins, a former Virginia sheriff who served an area about two hours outside Washington, D.C., was convicted by a jury in December 2024 for accepting more than $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointments as auxiliary deputy sheriffs.

In March, Jenkins was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

The bribes came from several people in the form of campaign contributions, and in exchange, they were sworn into deputy sheriff positions and received badges and credentials, according to court documents and evidence presented at the trial.

Corruption is Trump's business.

Trump is going to pardon a couple celebrities who were guilty of fraud.

Prosecutors said the couple walked away from their responsibility for repayment when Todd Chrisley declared bankruptcy and left $20-plus million in unpaid loans. Julie Chrisley was sentenced to seven years in federal prison, and Todd Chrisley got 12 years behind bars. The couple was also ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution.
I would say 12 years seems high. But some years would be nice. Their lawyer claimed these people were targeted because of their pro-Trump political views. I didn't even know these people had political views. I just knew I clicked quickly by the program they were in. This political accusation going to mar our Judicial system.

Certainly the Democrats aren't innocent of the pardoning of people that have no business of being pardoned. Biden's pardon of Conahan was gut wrenching. However, Trump is doing this in bulk.
Man, I forgot this is still just HR 1. Goodness Congress has become dysfunctional over the last 10 to 15 years.

I think Snopes misrepresents the claim.
The claim is not that the bbbill is explicit in the regards cited, but that it will enable the effects described.
It’s like saying Habeas Corpus does not mean that the President is empowered to fuck you in the ass then send you away to rot in a foreign hellhole prison. Woop de Doo! We’re safe. NOT!
In fact, he IS thus empowered. And that stupid bill WILL produce those effects.

*pointing to the other hill*

This isn't the hill to be fighting on.

Just so you are aware, the majority of this is bullshit. And what isn't, is a stretch at best. That said, the BBB is HORRIFIC ENOUGH!!
I know it projects quite a bit. If you pick a point and explain why it is not valid we can discuss the degree to which it exaggerates or assumes conditions yet to prevail. In a worst case scenario I think most if not all of it applies. There is not one point that is inconsistent withe Trump’s intent. We’d be arguing about the extent to which the Bbbill enables it.

This isn't the hill to be fighting on.
It isn’t “a hill” it’s the new terrain. One where there is NOTHING standing between the Felon and whatever horrific crimes he wishes to commit to slake his greed, paranoia and desire for power.
The “fight” if there is to be one, will be on one of those “hills” at a time, and there is little hope of anyone but the fascists gaining ANY territory if that Bbbill passes.

Okay. That's gotta stop right fucking now. That isn't a word, and never ever should be allowed, under any circumstances, to become one.

That's even worse than the hideous practice of suffixing every political scandal with "-gate", as though it were a meaningful suffix, and Nixon was busted after a break-in at the Water building.

In fact, in keeping with that horrific practice, can we please call this whole affair "Bill Gate"? Or would that infringe on a Microsoft trademark?

We could call it Bbbillby if that will make you happy.

f enacted, Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill as it emerged on Thursday from the House of Representatives would result in the largest redistribution of income and wealth in American history – from the poor and working class to the rich.

Hidden within the bill is also a provision that would allow Trump to crown himself king.

For months now, Trump has been trying to act like a king by ignoring court rulings against him.

The supreme court has told Trump to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Ábrego García, a legal resident of the United States who even the Trump regime admits was erroneously sent to a brutal prison in El Salvador.

Trump has done nothing.

Lower federal courts have ordered him to stop deporting migrants without giving them a chance to know the charges against them and have the charges and evidence reviewed by a neutral judge or magistrate – the minimum of due process.

Again, nothing.

Judge James Boasberg, chief judge of the federal district court for the District of Columbia, issued a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump regime from flying individuals to the prison in El Salvador without due process.

Judge Boasberg has found that the Trump regime has willfully disregarded his order.

Is there anything that the courts can do in response to Trump’s open defiance of judges and justices?

They have only one power to make their orders stick. They can hold federal officials in contempt, and enforce such contempt citations by fining or jailing them.

It’s a radical remedy, rarely used. But several federal judges are at their wits’ end.

Boasberg said that if Trump’s legal team does not give the dozens of Venezuelan men sent to the Salvadorian prison a chance to legally challenge their removal, he’ll begin contempt proceedings against the administration.

But...

Trump and his Republican stooges in Congress apparently anticipated this. Hidden inside their Big Ugly Bill is a provision intended to block the courts from using contempt to enforce its orders. It reads:

“No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued …”

Translated: no federal court may enforce a contempt citation.

The measure would make most existing injunctions – in antitrust cases, police reform cases, school desegregation cases and others – unenforceable.

Its only purpose is to weaken the power of the federal courts.
Wrapped up in a nice little bow.

The judiciary (having emasculated his tariff attack) is now part of the Deep State. If Trump loses the House next year, it too will be part of the Deep State. By 2028, the Deep State will include everyone but Cheato himself. His Harvard Derangement Syndrome will finally get the better of him and he WILL sic the military on them all if he can. (Never shoulda rejected Barron the Devil-Spawn!)
Universities, Courts, legislators etc. will all be in his sights, and as long as the rank and file military still follows his orders he will retain his ability to continue destroying American democracy.

if our deficit can not be brought under control.
It never could. Not in just 4 years. You should have seen that.
Rump will say anything, with complete disregard for what the truth is.
He doesn't know or care what he is saying.
The Big Brother Bill doesn't even try to ballence the budget. It is not a start either, to fulfilling that promise.
Throughout history there have only been 3 ways that governments have ultimately dealt with excessive debt and these are ALL civilization killers. To wit:

1) Inflation
2) Confiscate wealth
3) Renounce the debt

So let us only hope that the senate fails to pass Trump's beautiful bill before he not only ruins his own legacy but destroys civilization in the process.
