Yet another war, this time with Iran

Hegseth makes me think of the 80s Business Guy from Futurama.
Never watched it so I'm not familiar with the character.

How in the heck did a Fox News personality get to be Sec of Defense? It'd be like allowing hyperbole to write the dictionary!
DEI? Inclusion of idiots.

Indeed, we now live in a kakistocracy (rule by morons) and a kleptocracy (rule by thieves).

The alcoholic Kegseth is an empty-headed dipshit. This is where we are how. I hope I live long enough to see some recovery, but I suspect the damage that the Trump administration is doing, particularly with respect to climate change, is irreparable

Thank you, you vast legions of American hicks, hillbillies, morons, and the wealthy bastards who care nothing about the common good but only about your tax cuts, for putting this stupid fuck into office as president!

I grew up in upstate NY, and most of my extended family lived and still lives in NYC and Long Island. You New Yorkers sure love the hicks and hillbillies slurs. Anyone north of White Plains is a hick and a hillbilly. Give it a fuckin' rest.

So, as the US continues to attack Iran, we need to ask a question... what the heck are we targeting at this point?!

At the moment, the Strait of Hormuz is being choked off by Iran in response to the current military attacks. Israel killed the former Supreme Leader. The US and Israel have flattened the Iranian military. What is left? Why are we spending several hundreds of millions to a billion a day to blow the targets that are left up?

The Iranians aren't going into the streets, they are currently being made aware by those in power that seeking out to the streets to protest the leadership will end in their deaths. The Kurds aren't coming. We are destabilizing the global economy for potentially no further gains. We don't need to continue attacking to slow down their nuclear program. That can be sporadic actions.

So further strikes aren't about being able to take over Iran or US security or Israel security. So what is the damn plan?!

Trump said yesterday that oil tanker crews should "show some guts" and sail across the Strait anyway. I think he should lead by example and plant himself on the bow of one of these ships he's accusing of cowardice.
It would be a heart-warming sight, but remember, Trump doesn't need a bowsprit to scream that he's king of the world.

Today, March 12, 2026, Donald Trump is actively involved in ongoing international discussions regarding a conflict with Iran. He participated in a video call with leaders from the G7, where his communication reportedly left many participants confused about his administration's plans. Some leaders perceived his remarks as suggesting that he might want to end the war, while others felt the opposite.
All cleared up for you now?

Attack on Synagogue (I ain't ever spelling that word right before I die) in Michigan.

As an adult, I should be mature enough to understand that there is madness in the world and people do bad things. But I'm getting a bit oversaturated with the madness at the moment. Too many people are deluding themselves into thinking they are special and are allowed to bring misery and pain to others.

Right now, other than the attacker, no other injuries reported. Hopefully it remains that way.

Apparently, Iran might be planning on trying to target sites in California with drones.

That would make no sense.
On what scale?

This is a regime that has declared the US to be the Great Satan. Their decisionmaking is entirely based on their faith that they are doing God's work in battling the USA and Israel.

Any attack on the US mainland would have massive propaganda value at home, and as the US are already bombing the shit out of Iran, there's no possible retaliation.

The only escslation open to Trump would be "boots on the ground", which would be stupid and disastrous on pretty much every level. So he will probably do that.
Iran has limited military capacity at the moment. Striking the US a little impacts the globe a lot less than impacting the Strait of Hormuz. That is really their only avenue at this point.
They need only the plausible threat of military action against shipping in the Strait. That doesn't even need any actual weapons at this point.

Closing the Strait of Homuz hurts China oil worse than the US and Europe? That's all I got.:confused2:

According to Ray Dalio this is pretty much the standard way every empire flounders during its crises turning. When all else fails our leaders always take the empire to war..... hopefully without the nukes this time.

It'd be cheaper to fake it. Iran is run by zealots. They aren't the best managers, but they aren't like the Trump Admin.

There needs to be an observable threat. As Iran has done now. They don't need to blow up all the ships, just cause havoc for one or two. Then the insurance companies will do the rest for them.

I'm 75% certain that's a media invention to try and scare us West Coast types into supporting the war.
With Iran currently having a 6% approval rating, not liking Iran isn't the issue. And even if Iran did strike the US, it'd need to be a pretty huge attack to justify what is going on with the US and Iran.

It isn't like liberals support the Iranian regime. We just recognize that regime change in Iran would have been a lot easier in an organic plan that helped push the nation towards democracy. But Trump left the agreement and America had its head up its ass so far, they thought electing the idiot again would be great for the economy.

Man, if the oil supply does have a shortage, the GOP better try to stop the mid-terms, because otherwise, they are going to get the Brian Mulrooney treatment.

Well oil from Iran to China hasn't slowed one bit.

Prime Minister Carney, after initially offering some support to the airstrikes on the opening weekend of our "excursion", has now said that Canada will never take part in the war. He reacted to outrage from Canadians, who have had to take Trump's abuse and ridicule for years.

Dumbest and most malevolent President ever.
Trumpies: before Trump, could you ever have imagined that Canada -- Canada -- would be seething with hatred for us? Your man did it in just a few short years. Impossible to know how long this will take to abate, once our dumbass leaves office or drops dead with a sleeve of jumbo fries clutched in one of his bruised paws.
