Immigration Issues

1) How do we know the man is "MAGA"? There is no audio, Trump signs or Maga hats that I could see.
2) How do we know the delivery guy is Hispanic? How would the "MAGA guy" know?
3) How do we know the man was ready to call ICE?
5) There is a 3 minute cut in the video between 1:04 and 1:07 when the guy appears. What's up with that?
7) Is it possible the "MAGA guy" didn't know it was a 1am Amazon delivery and assumed it might have been a prowler he heard outside?
8) How do we know the police confirmed the driver was legally delivering packages?
1, 2, 3 = Just making a call to ICE, is strong evidence that you are a MAGAtard.
If you suspect a burgler, sane people call the police, not ICE.
5 = Time to wake-up, find/load his gun, call ICE?
7, 8 = The Amazon jacket and package would be a clue.

I question why Amazon makes deliverys at 1am?
I'm not aware of any deliveries at 1am, but on multiple occasions they have offered me a 4am-8am delivery slot. I can easily see 1am deliveries being a thing--your package is there when you get up, the wider the night delivery time the more such deliveries get made.
I frequently order deliveries for the 4am to 8am slot. Its very convenient for me, as I'm an early riser anyway. There doesn't seem to be deliveries in my area between 11pm and 4pm, AFAIK.

ETA: According to AI (Gemini), Amazon is not even supposed to deliver in the middle of the night, except on very rare occassions. Which makes this whole incident kinda suspicious. Escpecially at the beginning where there is no time stamp when you see the driver delivering.
They do overnight delivery. This is a thing you can simply just Google.
Thanks for letting me know. Can you provide the link from Google that shows Amazon does deliveries between 11pm and 4 am? I'm not having much luck with this. Thanks.
You can also just check Amazon's delivery options after you put an item in the cart. It's fairly simple. 4 AM-8 AM is an option.
I know. That's what I wrote. See bolded. Where is the 11pm to 4am delivery slot? I've never seen it as an option.
... If 4 AM is an option then that means they may deliver it at 4 AM. I dunno what to tell ya dude.
That doesn't make any sense, nor does it answer the question about that Amazon driver delivering at 1am. Does Amazon have a delivery window for the hours of 11pm to 4am, yes or no? If yes, let's see the receipts. If no, then its not unexpected that a guy who hears someone milling around on his front porch at 1am would think its someone trying to break in and go get his gun. As I said earlier, I frequently order items (usually groceries) for a 4am -8am delivery, and I usually hear him at my front porch (sometimes it wakes me up). I don't get alarmed because I expected him at that time window. If I heard someone at my porch at 1 am, I would probably freak out and call the cops or fire off a couple of blasts from my double barrel shotgun.

Why on earth would any rational person in a city environment go outside with a shotgun because they think someone might he breaking in instead of calling the police?

Was that a city? I can't tell.
It could have been the house next door to me. I know at least one MAGAot in my building who owns a gun. (I don't know about the guy next door)

This is a false dichotomy. Much more often, it's one person waiting inside with the shotgun and the other going out with the baseball bat or machete, because the police won't respond to a call in North Minneapolis for a good 30 minutes.

Usually the guy inside with the shotgun is WAY overkill.

Still, at least one occasion has had me on chase-away-with-machete duty.

Funny how a manifestly unstable machete wielder can be scarier than a gunman. Even if you’re the gunman.
Most gun-toting robbers don’t want to shoot, they want to rob. Most manifestly unstable machete wielders want … you DON’T KNOW what they want. That’s why they’re so scary.

Nah. Piece of cake.

That's almost exactly how my father looked when the family was hiking and he shot a rattlesnake with his pistol from about fifty yards. I can still see the snake tumbling end over end and then lying dead. The memory is imprinted in my mind. I could never even hit a soda can from thirty feet, my shots whizzing this way and that. He never told me but I felt like a disappointment to him. Ah well. I grew into adulthood with a strong disdain for guns.

My initial reason for posting was to write, "That's fuckin Hollywood."

Why doesn't it make any sense? You think they just include 4 AM as an option for shits and giggles?

I mean, with me, it's quite clear what I want: "get out of my yard and off my porch and don't come back onto my property."

The scary part is that I'm unhinged enough to do it with a "machete".

Granted the machete in question has a weighted handle, is made of quarter inch plate steel, and is really more technically a Falcata, albeit with an incorrect handle. That might make it more unhinged because it is, in fact, a "proper weapon".

I also didn't actually take it out of the scabbard, so it probably looked to him like I was coming at him with a weird baton, which it kind of was.

The point here being that often immediate response is warranted even in and around the city, and police cannot oblige this in many situations. Sometimes you gotta chase a guy away, but running around with a loaded shotgun is asking to get the cops involved and not in a good way, just as much as running around a neighborhood at night scoping properties while armed (with a gun or any effective weapon, really).

None of those are acceptable targets in a city. That's an easy way to shoot a pedestrian.
Sorry.
The sarcasm went right by you to the keeper.

The problem here is that some people ARE that dumb.

Look at this thread so far and ask why we would be talking about guns and being armed and chasing off nefarious folks? Its about immigrants, a population that historically has kept their noses quite clean by-in-large.

People are in here legitimately defending the reckless wielding of ranged weapons in city limits.

ICE deported a citizen born in U.S. to Mexico—now he's filed lawsuit demanding to be allowed back into the country.

"I told 3 different agents that I am American citizen," he said.

"They just called me crazy."

Then they threatened him with 5 prison years for fraud—accusing him of lying to federal officers about his citizenship.

Agents refused to look at his birth certificate or social security card—or even medical records proving born in U.S. hospital.

Brian Morales was born in Denver, Colorado—he was detained as part of a construction crew in Fredericksburg, Texas.

ICE deported him just days later to a state in Mexico that he had never been to—far away from even distant relatives.

He is currently awaiting the outcome of his lawsuit in Aguascalientes, Mexico—485 miles south of the nearest U.S.-Mexico border.

I don't find that you are radicalized at all. You've always been pretty much who you are: white is right and it's straight all the way and all that jazz. Oops: should not have said jazz. That music form has its roots in black music. Which leaves out rock and roll as well.
This is something you've completely made up all by yourself. Ascribing racism to me is a complete and utter fiction of your own invention. It's absolute bullshit.

And the fact that *this* is your go to insult is both absurd and radicalized, Toni.
Sure.

You don’t know me at all. But now you think I’ve become radicalized?

Hunny, I was born this way.
You were born accusing people of being racist when you can't engage in a civil discussion? Odd upbringing you must have had.

Seriously, your accusation that I've always been "white is right" is absolute fabrication - it's a fiction you've invented, supportable by nothing at all. It's rude, it's uncivil, and it's childish.

But I used to think that respect for and fair enforcement of federal law was something all reasonable people agreed on.
Untill federal 'law' became unreasonable.
Which part of the federal law with respect to immigration do you feel is unreasonable?
Just about anything Rump does is unreasonable. So 'federal law' no longer commands total respect from reasonable people. Civil Disobediance is now called for.
Orange Man Bad so fuck all laws then?
And where the fuck is this "fair enforcement" you speak of?
Well... it's in the states that are cooperating with ICE in the normal fashion. You know - informing ICE when someone here illegally is apprehended and detaining them to hand over, as well as informing ICE when an illegal alien has completed a sentence so that ICE can deport them in the normal fashion.
And then there's the whole can of worms regarding what constitutes "fair" enforcement. I can assure you that large numbers of very reasonable people hold views on what is fair that differ sharply from yours as expressed in this thread.
(y)(y)
Yes, it's quite obvious that many people in this thread hold a view that "fair" is whatever matches their politically motivated beliefs, rather than a reflection of actual justice.

A blog from the Libertarian Cato Institute on why the above change for green card applicants is stupid, cruel and bad for the US and bad for the applicants. There is nothing good about this change unless you are Steven Miller and want to just plain stop immigration.

That seems like a remarkably stupid, short-sighted, and vindictive change to the laws.

I suppose if the intent is to make it much, much harder to immigrate, this is a way to get that done. But it seems horribly unfair to people who already came here with an understanding of the rules as they were. Are those people grandfathered in?
