How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

From what I've read, this is a scam.
It certainly is in the Ukrainian army. Well known scam at that.
But not in Russia so go sign up or is there an age restriction on sitting on your ass in front of a monitor with a controller in your hands?
It's obvious that they are interested in young video game players.
Read the article and tell me it's all lies.
BBC is blocked in Russia:) But they are not a reputable media.
It's an old ukrainian scam. They tell you would be drone operator. But that's a lie.
Recruitment videos are always lies, even in US.
FPV Drone operators are not that safe. Most of them sit very close to the front line.
This is especially true for Ukranian Army.

French report that the working theory on Ukrainian Oligarch assassination attempt was because of debt of his older son. He apparently refused to pay money he loaned to start these scam call centers.

Bold - That's the old Ukrainian drone operators. The new ones do not have to be anywhere near the front. In fact, software is being developed so the operator can be anywhere in the world.
But let's go back to the recruitment of Russian drone operators. That article from the BBC is about recruitment of students, particularly ones struggling in school and colleges/tech schools being told to scrape together their worst performers for recruitment. I just thought anyone could do this job regardless of age and thought of you.
And then...
here this very next day, Reuters runs an article about how you too can be a drone operator in the Combat Army Reserve Force. I guess this would be "BARS". This would be a task force protecting Moscow. Generally the age restriction for these reserve units is 50. Google tells me it can go as high as 65 for some units. For such a desk-bound job as this, I would think as long as you can prove yourself during training, why would there be an age limit at all?

"An excellent, close-knit ‌team; there were great opportunities for growth, a positive corporate culture, the chance to choose work that suited my interests, and support from management. Salary is performance-based, meaning you can increase your earnings."
Not bad. I mean, if you wanted to serve your country doing something other than trying in vain to twist reality. Probably earn more than what you're earning now. Pay starts at 150,000 roubles per month.

Speaking of twisting reality, ISW has a few write-ups about Russian battlefield advances:
Key Takeaways said:
Russian President Vladimir Putin used a staged meeting with several Russian commanders on July 3 to make greatly exaggerated claims of Russian advances that do not match battlefield realities in order to construct a narrative of continuous Russian military successes.

Putin and other Russian military commanders heavily aggrandized the claimed seizure of Kostyantynivka on July 3 and 4.

The Russian MoD and other Russian sources are publishing large quantities of footage that may be AI-altered to falsely confirm Russian exaggerated claims and complicate individual footage verification.

A final thought:
Ever notice how the truth dovetails together nicely? There's no backpedaling. No denials. No fabrications. No omissions of fact or editing of history. This is why those of us living in reality find it easy to spot bullshit. It just doesn't fit. This is also why we would drop a news service found to present information in a disingenuous manner. And no, you lazily stating western news is not to be trusted is not going to tip the scales one iota. You're just another username in the wilderness.

LOL! You can see why Russians hate President Zelensky! Barbos can't even say his name! He's a cocky son-of-a-bitch! Putin claims that the orcs captured Kostiantynivka. President Z says okay no problem! Let's meet for peace talks in Kostiantynivka! Of course Putin declined.

Bombing offensive on Kyiv from last week. Remember, Russia doesn't target civilians.

Speaking of lying. It was determined that ukro-regime in its recent drone attacks on Moscow used drones armed with ...... extra fuel. Fucking clowns know damn well that damage they cause is pretty inconsequential, but if they load it with fuel, resulting propaganda footage looks much better.
Long range drones have fuel. And any weapon that burns fuel as it goes but doesn't go to it's maximum range will have leftover fuel when it hits. The reality is explosives tend to not look like very much when they go boom, but fuel does. Hollywood "bombs" are a little bit of explosive and a lot of gasoline. Thus I would expect the biggest visible effect from a drone being the remaining fuel going up. (Assuming it doesn't hit something that itself goes up.)
You don't listen, do you?
Your nazis literally loaded their droned with fuel in order to create illusion of a bigger explosion.
Read what I said!

Of course the most visible effect of shooting down a drone is the fuel going up.

What I'm asking is why would you expect any other outcome from hitting a liquid-fueled aircraft?

Flamingo missiles, probably loaded with extra flamingoes hits plant producing artillery systems and components for missile launch systems in Russia's Volgograd region
I agree with you, Russia needs to strike flamingo factories in UK/Germany.
We also need to strike all communication between Ukraine in EU. No more photo-ops for euro-scam in Kiev.
You seem to have forgotten how these things work.

Superpowers do not attack superpowers. Superpowers arm third parties at war with another superpower.

And, historically, the third party drives off the superpower.

You really stepped in it with Ukraine because most of the third parties have not been exactly trustworthy, neither side wanted to give them stuff they might end up facing. Ukraine, however, is a more trustworthy place and the reality is that modern weapons have enough communications and computing that we can be much more confident the weapons won't be turned on us.

Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Afghanistan. Never a direct conflict between the superpowers. Now you on the losing side again and want to break the pattern.

I asked you before how they do that. The tank is a finite space. It can only hold a set amount of fuel. There's no way to add more. And especially enough of more to make the explosion much more dramatic. It's impossible.
Man, you are dense. Extra fuel does not need to be in tanks.
and fuel tanks can be made bigger too if need to. But again, it did not need to be made bigger.
And tanks are usually not filled to 100% they are filled enough to go the required distance.
Your argument applies to airplanes. They can trade range for payload.

Cruise missiles can't realistically make such tradeoffs, although you see missiles that have a sprint mode, use an afterburner for the last part of the flight if the fuel supply permits.

But again, it did not need to be made bigger.

Nope. The tanks are full to use for evasive actions or secondary targets. Silly goose.
How would a drone do evasive action??

It's just there's no reason to short-load the fuel tank.

Ukraine is making fewer really grandiose claims, and when they do achieve solid results, they bring reciepts. And they have a clear strategy, striking Russian logistic depth, particularly in fuel supplies. It won't win them the war in a week, or probably even this year; But it stops Russia from gaining anything in return for the thiusands of men they shovel into the meat-grinder, and it brings the reality of war home to the comfortable middle class in Moscow, neither of which improves Mad Vlad's chances of dying peacefully of old age.
Yeah. I don't do social media, but the news I keep seeing these days is Ukraine hitting stuff like refineries etc.

Russia destroying NATO equipment in Ukraine:

Really now, you want me to believe a bunch of Ukranian tanks bunched up like that after all this time?!

You don't bunch up when facing artillery, period. And you don't get close enough to a friendly unit to be killed by the same iron bomb. (And your glide bombs are iron bombs with wings.)
