Reflection Pool-Gate

A story on CNN detailing the lies by Trump and his corrupt administration regarding the reflecting pool and their willingness to corruptly charge an innocent person to support Trump's malignant desires.

Again, this whole reflecting pool thing is the Trump Administration in a nutshell. Corruption, lying, incompitance, deflections, false accusation and complete scumbagery by Trump and his appointees.

I joked about this episode above -- and, at some point in the future, when the histories of our era are written, it will seem like bizarre comedy -- but it really does show you what this horror show of an administration is like. All in with Chris Hayes did an excellent segment on it last night. He showed the footage of Trump stating that they had proof of criminal vandalism, then Pirro stating that they had proof beyond a reasonable doubt that David Hearn was guilty of criminal damage to public property. Hayes pointed out that the DOJ made a point of assessing Hearn's vandalism at over $1000, so they could get him sent to prison.
Hayes called this Kafkaesque, which it certainly is. Trump tells an insufferable lie, which everyone knows is a lie, and his stooges at DOJ go on Fox etc. and repeat the lie. Pirro denounces Hearn at a presser. All this is done to a citizen simply because he makes a convenient target and can create a visible image for the President's delusions.
Trump of course is immune to any culpability in the damage done to Hearn. Pirro should be run out of DC. And will there be any apology, let alone restitution, to the victim? Don't bet on it.
Here's what baffles me. DOJ didn't just drop the charges yesterday -- in their statement, they admitted that the damage to the Pool was due to faulty lining installation -- which is the same as admitting that Trump, Pirro and the other talking heads told lies, over and over. Makes me wonder if heads will roll over this.
We've seen this same nasty corruption before. I'm sure Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss are watching this with revulsion. Those are the Georgia ladies who sued Giuliani for $148 million for turning their lives upside down with his shameless lies about their work at the Georgia polls. Trump got into it, too -- calling Freeman "a professional vote scammer and hustler". But he's above the law, as we know, thanks to the Roberts court. He can libel and harass any citizen he wants, and have them subjected to death threats, and nothing will happen to him.

Trump insists vandals damaged Reflecting Pool, blasts DOJ for dropped charge

President Donald Trump said Saturday he disagreed “100%” with the decision by federal prosecutors to drop a criminal charge of vandalism against a man accused of damaging the Reflecting Pool, rebuking U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, one of his staunchest allies.

In a case that drew national attention, David “Davey” Hearn, a 67-year-old Olympic canoeist, was indicted on a felony charge after Pirro, the top federal prosecutor in D.C. and a longtime Trump ally, alleged that he “forcefully and violently” ripped the newly installed liner on the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool.

Pirro’s office reversed course Friday, with a court filing that said the peeling of the liner was the result of a botched installation by a contractor rushing to finish the project ahead of celebrations to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“I don’t know what she was thinking?” Trump wrote of Pirro on Truth Social on Saturday. “To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM.” He acknowledged that “there may have been some contractor difficulty” but said the major cause was vandalism.

Trump really needs to be liable for these lies. He's so full of shit. He knows jack and is massively evil.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
But how can this guy be polling at even 35 or 37% approval, at this point? He's like a Bond villain, or old man Potter in It's a Wonderful Life. What is with people who cannot see that he is a liar 24 hours a day, week in, week out? Awful to think there's a third of the country with zero character assessment skills and with such a small grasp of reality.

or old man Potter in It's a Wonderful Life.
The scene where Potter describes George Bailey's brother in disparaging business terms and the townspeople as rabble could apply to today. George Bailey snaps back with saying "Those people do most of the working and living and dying in this town. What is wrong with people having a couple rooms and a bath. Doesn't it make them better citizens, better customers?" (Taken from memory so don't bust my chops if I got a little wrong.)

It's the same today. Big CEOs try to squeeze as much out of their workers for as little pay as possible. Now people are using credit to even buy necessities like food. The shortsighted big CEOs still fail to realize better paid employees become better customers and better citizens.

This economy is going to break, and soon.

The last day of a factory in Trump country, as its work moves to China

In September 2024, billionaire hedge-fund owner John Paulson — an adviser to the president and one of his biggest fundraisers — gave an interview supporting Trump’s tariff proposals on CNBC. “What you see is a hollowed-out American manufacturing base. And we need to protect American jobs and protect American manufacturing,” Paulson said. “We can’t have Americans — American producers closing American factories and offshoring.”

Paulson is a legendary figure in the world of New York finance. He made much of his money through a prescient bet against the U.S. housing market before its collapse in 2007, personally netting $4 billion. But through his investment firm, Paulson had other holdings that extended beyond the credit default swaps that so enriched him at the onset of the Great Recession. Over the years they included stakes in a mining company, a commercial forest interest and a media conglomerate.

And they included Conn Selmer, whose parent company, Steinway Musical Instruments, had been acquired in 2013 by Paulson’s investment business. Conn Selmer’s 61-year-old Eastlake factory, a low-slung building between a frontage road and a field overgrown with wild grass and goldenrod, was now opening for its last shift making instruments in the United States.

Musk, Zuck, Bezos control the bots and they control the message on the internet. If you have any boomer or elder GenX friends you may see that their social media feeds are batshit. Then watch the bots fill up the comments on any and every article…

Haven't we waded into censure territory? They falsely arrested, charged, and tried to bring a trial over something they knew was a bald faced lie.

Is there no bar at all left?

My feed is filled with ads telling me Amazon is a great place to work, United Healthcare actually cares about people, and BlueChew Gold will make a 32 year old man feel like he's 15 again.

I'm not convinced of any of that.

Those who still support Trump can be divided into 2 broad categories with a lot of overlap. The first group believes Trump because they are stupid. The second group thinks Trump is useful for obtaining their goals because they are evil.

Trump is furious at Pirro for finally giving into the truth about the reflecting pool. I'm certain that the judge would have eventually thrown out the bullshit case against David Hearn and seriously chastised or called for disbarment of prosecutors involved.

But according to shit for brains, his sycophants should be happy to face disbarment in order to lie for him.

Now Pirro is also a piece of shit. But for all of the things what she should be fired for, dropping the case against Hearn is not it.

But of course she is now trying to deflect blame on the Department of the Interior. Yet she had zero facts to charge Hearn to begin with. And she's also now claiming that it was career staff who did it and not her.

What a low life.

Here we have Pirro is a low life
Trump is a low life
And Doug Burgum from Interior is a low life

President Donald Trump is considering removing Jeanine Pirro, the US attorney for the District of Columbia, over a Justice Department conclusion that problems with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool stemmed from a flawed renovation rather than vandalism, two people familiar with his thinking told CNN.

Trump on Saturday publicly criticized the move, posting to Truth Social: “I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don’t know what she was thinking? To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM.”

Collapsed like a folding chair!

All these freedom lovers that are silent on Trump's gross abuse of the DOJ over the reflection pool just show how full of shit they are.
