Sure, but nobody can be held accountable for the final user of anything they sell. The chips probably went through a dozen hands before they made it to Russia.

If there were no intermediaries, or if AMD, Intel etc knew the final purchaser would be Russia, they absolutely deserve to be crucified.

Absolutely, but even if chip makers wanted Russia to defeat Ukraine, they aren't stupid enough to make it that easy to trace. Russia has been evading international sanctions ever since they annexed Crimea. Those sanctions didn't really have any teeth. It was mostly diplomatic restrictions. This seems to have made them complacent. The smart move would have been to create massive stockpiles of critical components. However, since to master plan was to occupy all of Ukraine in three days, there didn't seem to be a need. We can add to that, Russia didn't expect the West to actually care about Ukraine, considering the weak response to the seizing of Crimea.

History is filled with military failures which depended on quick success. It's easy to take a besieged city if you can break down the gate in the first week. It's a much different matter to keep an army fed in the field for months, waiting for the city to run out of food. That's the situation Putin has led Russia into.

Yes, Crimea, Kharkov, Odessa and the whole Eastern Ukraine is Russia.
And historically speaking Kiev too, the fact that Poland managed to kick Golden Horde out of there in order to Occupy it not very relevant. Last 300 years it was Russian and before that it was basically the same tribes as the rest of modern Western Russia.
