I lived in Texas in the early 70s when it was fairly blue, so it's great to see it going back in that direction. Most states aren't static when it comes to politics, so it was about time for Texas to turn around. Now Georgia is as blue as it's been in the more than 30 years that I've lived here. Hopefully, this election has saved the SCS among other things.I am a Texan and aren't all of you proud of Texas going blue last night?![]()
, I miss Mark White and Ann Richards. Richards I did not like so much but still voted for her against that idiot Bush But I would take Ann anyday over the Republicans.I lived in Texas in the early 70s when it was fairly blue, so it's great to see it going back in that direction. SCS?Hopefully, this election has saved the SCS among other things.
Sheesh....Separation of Church and State. I thought we all knew that one. Sorry.SCS?Hopefully, this election has saved the SCS among other things.
It does. just not successfully.Your system does not allow for disaffected voters to protest outside the duopoly.
I'm not sure. I think Ann Richards was governor at least most of the time I lived there, although I was not that into politics at the time. I lived in San Antonio with my former spouse and toddler. I went back to school in San Antonio to get my nursing degree, great teachers and great program. It was all self learning, other than the clinical of course. I loved not having to attend lectures. We had the highest board scores in the state too, but I digress. Anyway....point is that I was very busy so while I did vote, I wasn't that into politics.Yes

I lie in Corsicana and its a weird place It usually votes red but most people here are liberal on economic issues and conservative on moral issues. The county country people are whack job red. Corsicana even elected a Socialist Party member mayor a long time ago.
Were you living in Texas when Dolph Briscoe was governor and he tried to implement a state run car insurance program whose premiums would fluctuate from year to year based on payout coverage but would have been cheaper than third party policies we have now*?
It was the lesser of two evils where the greater evil was really evil. Any political system which puts executive power in a single office, will always be a two party system. There is no reward in being in third place, so the opposition will always coalesce, no matter how diverse.I wonder how much of the vote was anti-Trump rather than pro-Democrat?

Doesn't matter in the short run.I wonder how much of the vote was anti-Trump rather than pro-Democrat?

True. That is why the democrats had better act wisely from now on.Doesn't matter in the short run.I wonder how much of the vote was anti-Trump rather than pro-Democrat?

If you only have 2 choices then you cannot escape the duopoly
How many of the recent elections were not binary i.e. not only R vs. D? Had a quick look but could not find any figures.Nor are all elections binary choices.Doesn't matter in the short run.I wonder how much of the vote was anti-Trump rather than pro-Democrat?
