GOP post mortem

Popcorn time.

Scalise says the GOP needs change... so he is running for Minority Leader. He used to be in the House leadership slots for the GOP, so this is clearly "change". Jordan is apparently running for it too. The Shit Show begins!

SoD Hegseth is about to be fired.

Trump said that he was not considering replacing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. “I think he’s doing a very good job,” he said.

VP Vance is doing his best to split himself from the Administration he is in. Of course, he did it in a social media posting and not an interview because questions be hard to answer.
article said:
In a more than 600-word post on social media, Mr. Vance also offered a broader critique of the Trump administration’s agenda and messaging in what appeared to be an effort to separate himself from the president.

...
“Everyone knows why we lost,” Mr. Vance wrote. “And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.”
Your star is no longer in accension Vance.

Mike Johnson has said he will not seek the minority leadership position in the next congress.
Mike Johnson said he is going to open a lawn care business in Shreveport. With the Democrats in control, he may be able to find employees.

I am a Texan and aren't all of you proud of Texas going blue last night?🤗
I lived in Texas in the early 70s when it was fairly blue, so it's great to see it going back in that direction. Most states aren't static when it comes to politics, so it was about time for Texas to turn around. Now Georgia is as blue as it's been in the more than 30 years that I've lived here. Hopefully, this election has saved the SCS among other things.

, I miss Mark White and Ann Richards. Richards I did not like so much but still voted for her against that idiot Bush But I would take Ann anyday over the Republicans.

I lie in Corsicana and its a weird place It usually votes red but most people here are liberal on economic issues and conservative on moral issues. The county country people are whack job red. Corsicana even elected a Socialist Party member mayor a long time ago.

Were you living in Texas when Dolph Briscoe was governor and he tried to implement a state run car insurance program whose premiums would fluctuate from year to year based on payout coverage but would have been cheaper than third party policies we have now*?

I wonder how much of the vote was anti-Trump rather than pro-Democrat?
Your system does not allow for disaffected voters to protest outside the duopoly.

I'm not sure. I think Ann Richards was governor at least most of the time I lived there, although I was not that into politics at the time. I lived in San Antonio with my former spouse and toddler. I went back to school in San Antonio to get my nursing degree, great teachers and great program. It was all self learning, other than the clinical of course. I loved not having to attend lectures. We had the highest board scores in the state too, but I digress. Anyway....point is that I was very busy so while I did vote, I wasn't that into politics.

What part of Texas is that place where you live? I'm not familiar with much outside of SA, Austin and the so call Hill Country area.

It was the lesser of two evils where the greater evil was really evil. Any political system which puts executive power in a single office, will always be a two party system. There is no reward in being in third place, so the opposition will always coalesce, no matter how diverse.
Granted, Trump made the choice fairly easy, especially after stabbing Hispanics in the back. The fact Republicans thought they could retain Hispanic voters in the face of ICE outrages, shows they are not only evil, but incredibly stupid as well.
Stupid is always a hard sell.

Doesn't matter in the short run.
True. That is why the democrats had better act wisely from now on.

You clearly know nothing about the US because ballot boxes are not the only place of protest.
If you want to change the pollies then the ballot box is the usual way.
If you only have 2 choices then you cannot escape the duopoly

You can vote for anyone you like, in red white and blue freedom loving America, the seat of modern democracy, leader of the world.
If you’re American, and you can get enough people to like what you like, you can get what you like.
The end result though, is you only have ONE choice.
The person who gets the most people to vote for them at the end of the process, wins. That’s “your” collective choice. Individuals don’t get choices in democracies, populations do.

Nor are all elections binary choices.
How many of the recent elections were not binary i.e. not only R vs. D? Had a quick look but could not find any figures.
