The Bible

Let go of the God on your shoulder, dude.

only if you remove your log [ in your eye ], pfft a metaphor for don't be a dick, understand?

I'm trying. I really am.

it was just a prediction, but yeah I have no reason to doubt you are here to talk about a made up cure for a made up ailment.

How much do you think I would get for it?

NOTHING? Are you sure?

You look a little pale. Are you feeling okay?

Tough breaks. Good luck with that.

I'm not here to do anything but discuss the Bible with skeptics, and I'm losing interest real fast. Most likely I'll be gone before you know it.

Apparently the "meaning of the Bible". Although I don't really think meaning is the correct term, from the way I understand what he's written, instead I'd say:

The purpose of the Bible is to clear the main character of the Bible's name to their son (a primary character of the second section of the Bible), by showing the main character's son that people would attack someone who literally figuratively did no wrong.

No. The first prophecy of Jesus in the Bible is Genesis 3:15.

A) Jehovah God created Michael.

B) Jehovah, through Michael, created the Heavens.

C) Jehovah, through Michael, created the trillions of spirit creatures.

D) The spirit creatures existed for an unknown, but likely great period of time. In this time they matured, in that they knew that they needed their creator's guidance.

E) The Earth was created with all of it's creatures.

F) Man was created and existed for some time unknown. They were Michael's favorite part of Jehovah's creation.

G) An angel, the most beautiful of angels was placed as protector over Adam and Eve in the garden.

H) The angel deceived Eve. She enticed Adam. Adam knowingly sinned for fear of losing his wife and being alone.

1) God discovered this and began to make plans for justice, through salvation. Michael volunteered to come to Earth for this purpose.

2) God formed the nation Israel to introduce an imperfect Law to teach them of their need of this salvation and produce a Messiah.

3) Meticulous records were kept to determine who this Messiah was. Only one person who ever lived could have been the Messiah.

5) The people rejected the Law and the Messiah.

6) The possibility of salvation was then opened to all people.

1) No one
2) Cares
3) What your silly book says.

A) It was written by liars

B) With an agenda

C) And you have fallen for it.

DLH, may I ask which sect you belong to?

None. I've never belonged to any organized religious group and I never will. If you notice my beliefs are similar to the Jehovah's Witnesses this is true. They are not exactly the same but very similar.

So these posts are your way of knocking on our door on a Saturday morning and insisting we take a copy of your pamphlet.

All that will remain is your stain unfortunately, got any content that isn't fluff that you are willing to reveal?

Basically, since you want a skeptic's input, the Bible isn't true because of contamination or because of circular logic that it is infallible.
If anything it is unreliable as far as truth goes

BTW, I love the polemic in post #34. No, it wasn't the snake talking, it was Satan. It wasn't Balaam's ass talking, it was an angel. See there? I knew those stories weren't preposterous myths. They make sense, ya just gotta get the context. This works for oh so many Bible conundrums. With the right context, God killing children and ordering the extermination of nation after nation is actually good -- it's part of his loving nature!! See, he really loves us, and.... and..... and -- I think I just lost that damn context again.
It does get a bit difficult to discuss the Bible with a purported Bible expert who thinks most Bible translations are all wrong.

See Satan was first mentioned in Number 22:22, which is why Satan was involved in Genesis 3, and in a completely different context!

You have to ask yourself, who got blamed for deceiving Eve, a snake or the angel who would later be known as Satan the Devil. The Hebrew word satan means resister or adversary. The first time it appears in scripture it isn't used as a name, it is used as a word to describe what the righteous angel sent by God did to Balaam. He resisted him. He became an adversary. The title satan, with the Hebrew word satan, when applied to the disobedient angel, is always given with the definite article ha, as in ha satan. He is the foremost adversary of God.

As I always do, I will ask you to demonstrate this, and as is always the case, you can't.

you yourself admitted that metaphors make it true, so which metaphor is the best?
it is unreliable because of that very reason.
that certain metaphors or lack thereof invalidate it.
so why in your opinion does the Bible have to be true?

3) What your silly book says.

A) It was written by liars

B) With an agenda

C) And you have fallen for it.

Obviously that isn't true. The people who really don't care, don't read my posts and certainly don't tell me they don't care. If they didn't care they wouldn't bother to tell me.

I read every post made on this discussion board.

I care that you believe errant nonsense, because I care about humanity, and you seem bent on promulgating further errant nonsense - something of which humanity already has a surfeit.

I don't care to act as though the Bible was a valuable resource, because of reasons 'A' and 'B' (above).

Well... if you read the story, the snake is made to crawl on its belly and be enemies with man. Sounds quite like a literal snake.

He resisted him. He became an adversary. The title satan, with the Hebrew word satan, when applied to the disobedient angel, is always given with the definite article ha, as in ha satan. And that has absolutely nothing to do with the story of The Fall.

Well... if you read the story, the snake is made to crawl on its belly and be enemies with man. Sounds quite like a literal snake.

So the snake didn't crawl on it's belly prior to that? Genesis 3:15. The first prophecy of the Messiah. He is talking to Satan and his followers and Jesus / Michael and the Bride, or his followers. Now! Take it easy! Let me show you. Just hear me out. I want yu to slowly read this, and check the scriptural references as you go, which I will give below.

Genesis 3:15And I (God) will put enmity (or hostility) (Revelation 12:7, 17) between you (Revelation 12:9) and the woman (Revelation 12:1) and between your offspring (or seed) (John 8:44 / 1 John 3:10) and her offspring (or seed) (Genesis 22:18; 49:10 / Galatians 3:16, 29) He will crush your head, (A fatal blow) (Revelation 20:2, 10) and you will strike him in the heel. (non-lethal blow) (Matthew 27:50 / Acts 3:15)

Revelation 12:7, 17 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled. So the dragon became enraged at the woman and went off to wage war with the remaining ones of her offspring, who observe the commandments of God and have the work of bearing witness concerning Jesus.

Revelation 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Revelation 12:1 Then a great sign was seen in heaven: A woman was arrayed with the sun, and the moon was beneath her feet, and on her head was a crown of 12 stars,

John 8:44 You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie.

1 John 3:10 The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Whoever does not practice righteousness does not originate with God, nor does the one who does not love his brother.

Genesis 22:18; 49:10 And by means of your offspring all nations of the earth will obtain a blessing for themselves because you have listened to my voice.'" The scepter will not depart from Judah, neither the commander’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to him the obedience of the peoples will belong.

Galatians 3:16, 29 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “and to your descendants,” in the sense of many. Rather, it says, “and to your offspring,” in the sense of one, who is Christ. Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s offspring, heirs with reference to a promise.

Revelation 20:2, 10 He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulfur, where both the wild beast and the false prophet already were; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Matthew 27:50 Again Jesus called out with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

Acts 3:15 whereas you killed the Chief Agent of life. But God raised him up from the dead, of which fact we are witnesses.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with the story of The Fall.

The story of The Fall. Not the fall. The Fall. Uppercase, T, uppercase F. Sounds like religiosity to me. you look at the Bible through the eyes of religion. Judaism?

Intense study, years of research, and well deserved faith in the Bible.

What evidens, outside the bible, make you believe in the bible?

I saw Bob Marley's face burned on a piece of toast one morning.

No. seriously, just the study, research, and well deserved faith.
