Pinned Folding team - The Godless Ones

Denotes a thread or post that is permanently displayed at the top of the subforum.
I've stopped folding on my CPUs, leaving only my GPU to do folding, and it allows me to leave the client running while booted into Linux. I only notice the performance hit when watching videos on YT, but I can leave F@H running the rest of the time.

The CPU's were only contributing about 2000 points per Work Unit, whereas the GPU contributes over 100,000 per WU, so my poor CPU fan was doing a lot of work for little reward.

Within the new few days, we should easily reach the 250,000,000 point mark for the team! Woohoo!

I can hardly wait to get yah-beast up and running again, maybe mid July or sooner
Yah-beast is my computer

So of course my moving day had to be 95 degrees and over 90% humidity. I think I drank about 12 glasses of water today, and peed only once this morning.

Internet service will be hooked up by the middle of next week, and those hamsters will be back on their wheels pretty soon.

So, a belated welcome to member Thor Venstad, who has moved rather quickly up the charts and is now over 3 million points. That's helped our team start moving back up the charts again and just today, put us over the 300 million point mark! Congrats to us!

And we have a new overall points leader! Congrats to fromderinside for passing Hawxhurst for the #1 spot on the team!

In other folding news, I recently found out there are apps for your smartphone. I downloaded the one for my Android device and have made over 15 hours of contributions so far. A couple of minor issues I'm not crazy about with them:

1. I can't seem to be able to link those contributions to our team, or indeed any team at all. In fact, it gave me some other username, which I also can't change.
2. To contribute, your phone has to be a) at 100% battery, b) on a charger, and c) connected to Wifi

Still, I get some satisfaction that I'm helping science.

Okay, good news
I have a home for yah-beast
I took the bios chip out and a new one is in the mail
Internet has been activated but i don't have the modern yet
Very close to resuminunits units

My system is not booting maybe killed the motherboard
Not getting post bios report either
Checked all components and it appears my mb is toast
I guess I'm ordering a replacement mb tomorrow
Trying Ubuntu on this other tower, see how it folds for a while

So apparently the 'on idle' setting means don't fold even if the computer hasn't been used for an interactive session in days.

Did you try hitting fold on your FAH control? You may have to restart your process which I usually succeed at when I use the Web control. If not I restart my latest download of Folding at Home and force it after it reports that some processes may have remained.

The process was running fine, just not doing anything until I unchecked this highlighted option:

I think it's just an issue with how they've programmed the process to detect idle and the fact that I mainly use this machine as a server with the display disconnected 90% of the time. It's probably looking for a screensaver to steal focus or something. I never used it before, and thought I'd try it out when I moved the machine.

This sort of stuff is to be expected when you have scientists write applications ;)
