Melania Plagiarizes Michelle

So, after 10 pages it seems like the net net net net of all this is we all got a reminder we could be looking at a hot Slovenian model the next 4 years instead of Hillary.

That would be Bill, not Hillary. The jury is still out on whether we would rather look at Hillary or Donald for the next few years.

I'm pretty sure it's Hillary too. We haven't had separate elections for first lady/dude and president since the 12th Amendment passed.

Hillary will not be her own first lady, Bill would be the first dude. Therefor, in any appearance where we would be likely to see Melania, we would instead see Bill.

I mean, I even juxtaposed Hillary and The Donald for you in the same post for you, and you still didn't get it. Not that I am surprised, or anything.

She's on the internet. We can look at her naked anytime we want. If we want to hear her speak, we can just play some old MLK speech or something.

No, I got it. You are just making and doubling down emphatically on a pointless distinction in a way that makes people unpopular in social settings.

My original statement was 100% accurate.

If we vote correctly we have the opportunity to see a lot more of a hot Slovenian model and a lot less of Hillary.

Choose wisely, America.

I was originally just riffing on your riff of this thread, and throwing in a jab on Hillary in the process, but what's this about it making people unpopular in social settings? Now that really has me intrigued. I would have thought making fun of Hillary's looks would make me really popular in your social circle.

My original statement was 100% accurate.

:hysterical:

Wait... let me catch my breath...

:laughing-smiley-014

Sorry, I just don't have the words, you are a comedy gold mine, dismal!

The internet gives us the ability to see far more of Melania than anyone would ever want to see of Hillary, but when it comes to making appearances at school cafeterias, and knitting circles, it will be Bill doing that this time around, not Hillary.

100%, oh my FSM, that is pricesless...

Being married to the Donald is far from a guarantee on longevity of that relationship.

You think she's "hot"? I couldn't tell what she looked like at all. I could tell what her make-up artist wanted to create, but I couldn't see Melania at all. Too much make up to me is the same as a paper bag - a device to hide the person.

Also, I had to wonder as this becomes obvious that it was Melania herself who created this gaffe, whether she took a lot of heat from donald for embarrassing him. I feel bad for her, it was probably frightening. Remember what happened to Ivana when she embarrassed Donald with the scalp thing?

Yes, that has occurred to me as well. I think this is part of why it took so long for them to formulate a half-way coherent response, and why Meredith McIver took 100% responsibility.

On the 10 point scale I'd give her +5 or 6 points on Hillary.

Gaffe? The gaffe is the report indicating that Melania likes Michelle Obama. She comes from that communist country Slackovenstanstanstan. Which probably explains why she likes that communist First Lady.

Whether it was Mileena herself or some low level flunkie who created this gaffe, the fault for it lies with Trump and with the senior team of advisors and managers whom he's hired to run his campaign. A primetime address by the candidate's spouse at the party's convention is a major fucking item and it is the job of the people at the top to go over it with a fine-toothed comb and discover potential issues like this before it gets onto the air. That's why political analysts are so stunned over this happening - there is supposed to be a campaign infrastructure in place to prevent things like this from happening.

Fashion models and low-level staffers are not the ones who have a responsibility for things like this. They do the drafts of the speech and then the people in charge check over and review the speech for any potential gaffes or inconsistencies. When Romney's wife gave her speech, she had senior people from the campaign calling up her family members to make sure that there wasn't the slightest bit of embellishment in the irrelevant personal anecdotes she included just so any type of story like this could be avoided. Mileena's speech didn't even pass through a basic university anti-plagiarism online essay checker. This was a failure of the campaign leadership, not a failure of whoever wrote the speech.

All true, but I don't feel like that would inhibit Trump from blaming her and lashing out.

Privately, you are probably correct. Publicly, he will continue to see her as perfect and flawless and nothing wrong will be her fault. But if I were her, I'd expect to be relegated to the Ex-wives club after he loses.

All in all, though, I'd have thought more would be made of:

The rickroll could be a sign it was deliberate.

By whom? Melania? Her friend?

But if anything is deliberate to sabotage Trump's election, it would be using Michelle Obama's words, and then saying that Melania admires Michelle Obama

Not yet, and not for that. She is still too beautiful for him to dump for a younger wife.
