March for women. A message from Conservatives

An observation is not an instruction.

- - - Updated - - -

So you don't know the answer.

I know why women I know personally marched. I know what the people who organized the Women's March said about its purpose and their goals. I know what Rhea said about her first-hand experiences there. But no one can impart knowledge to you when you won't listen to what they're telling you, and I'm not going to try spoon feeding it to you, either.

If you truly want to know what the Women's March was all about and why it took place the Saturday after the Inauguration, you can start by re-reading what Rhea has already posted. Then you can follow the links people have provided. Then come back with better questions, because the ones you keep asking have already been answered.

They were timed for just after the election to last 100 days. What is the purpose of these marches. Is that question permitted?

If you already have the answer to your question then just say it. Don't waste people's time by hiding behind a disingenuous suite of questions designed to try and herd the opposing party into your conclusions. Just say it and explain why you came to that conclusion. Your seeming inability to do so just comes off as coy, weak, and cowardly.

What was the answer if it was not a protest against the election results.

Scroll up? Other people already seem to have this covered.

Do you have one example?

Well someone else already posted a link to a website which you apparently

So here it is again for your convenience:

1. What happens next?

Please see our IN GRATITUDE page for some thoughts we'd like to share with you. We will announce more on what will happen next very soon, so please stay tuned. We are not going away.

2. Is The Women's March on London an anti-Trump march? Why should I march against the president of another country?
The Women's March on London is not an anti-Trump march per se. Though Donald Trump's election was arguably the catalyst for a grassroots collective of women to come together and formulate the idea of the Women's March, its objective is to protect and stand up for fundamental values that have recently come under attack namely human rights, equality, dignity, safety and health. We are inviting anyone with an interest in preserving and defending those rights, to take part and show their opposition.

3. Why march on January 21st?
We are marching on this date - a global day of action - in solidarity with people in the United States as well as people all over the world whose human rights are being threatened. The loss of human rights is a global issue that requires a global response. If fundamental human rights are being questioned then we believe we must take action and defend them; that's exactly what we are aiming to do with this march.

4. Why call yourselves Women's March on ...?
The march was given its name by those who started this initiative in Washington DC. In solidarity, we adopted the name as the march is spearheaded BY women, but importantly is FOR everyone.

5. Is the march about women's rights?
The Women's March on London is not specifically about women's rights only. However, women's rights are human rights and for that we will gladly take to the street and march.

6. It seems like you are marching for so many different issues, none of which have anything to do with women's rights at all?

We disagree with the idea that racism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, disability prejudice, poverty, and the environment aren't 'women's issues.' They are intertwined with women's rights because a significant proportion of women are people of colour, trans, lesbian, Muslim, disabled, economically suffering, and living on this earth.

7. Is this march only for women?
No, the march is open to people of any gender.

I do believe this answers all of your questions, yes?

Thanks. I've seen this but I'm not sure what website it's from. No one was really giving specific points.
It won't take very long to reply but I have now to check a couple of things and also will be occupied with some work until the weekend.

There's a real-life story of a man who suffered a brain injury and could not remember anything longer than 10 minutes.

(I pause, take a sip of wine and contemplate the workings of a mind who has been reading 398 posts on a topic and still doesn't know what it is about. Fascinating.)

The March.
Was nuanced.
It was for many many different reasons.
As we've said.
Over the last 398 posts.
Many many reasons.

Any list I give you will yield either you telling me I'm wrong about the march I attended, or picking one reason and falsely assigning it to something it never was.

It was to protest policies, not a man. Some have been going on for a long time but are still urgent. Some are policies that the new government (President, House, Senate) have vowed to pursue.

You,
Should probably not spend any time watching the videos of the speeches at the event, nor reading online the lists of "Why I Marched."
Because you will not comprehend them.
Save precious minutes of your life and go play golf instead.

Democrats and Republicans always work together but there's no harm with Outreach. I take it you found Madonna's speech of thinking (not threatening) about blowing up the White House but that is still 'a bit over the top.'

I found it over-the-top, out of synch with the rest of the day and unnecessary.

Rhea, it's because you're stuck in a box of WP's making. Since he never actually defined the terms of how one decides "What the march was about." and since nobody called him on this, he's more or less free to dictate the terms and change them at will.

I have but there are a couple of things to check by the weekend. This will be looking at some direct sources etc.

Why is this timed with end of the US election?

Your really can't figure that out from the information available? Really?

Some are policies that the new government (President, House, Senate) have vowed to pursue.
There's a story about a straw and a camel's back.

Some are the policies which can cause concern but that's not the full picture. I will reply by the weekend.

You're the one who "asked" why it was timed for Jan 21st. Now you are telling me what the "full picture" really is?

Says the guy who doesn't want to learn about the movement, he wants to pontificate to the movement.
Good luck with that.

Ah, the "full picture" as in " I know what all the protesters were really doing". Wow.

There's nothing wrong with protesting against Trump as president. All good humans should.

That's WP-speak for "I am hoping that this thread will have moved far enough past this point so that I can come back this weekend and just repeat my original bullshit claims as if none of you ever answered me the first six thousand times."

He wants to take advantage of our weekend state.

Things are getting serious!

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/06/politics/general-strike-womens-march/

Washington (CNN)The organizers of last month's Women's March announced Monday their intention to hold a general strike at a date to be determined.
Posts across the official social media accounts for the Women's March read: "General Strike: A Day Without A Woman," with a subhead saying, "Date To Be Announced."

What's next? A modern day Lysistrata?

Is that your definition of answer a direct question with a direct answer.

Can someone recommend a good irony meter repairman?

I've recently started developing my business model for irony meter repair. I think I'm going to be needing to hire a boatload of people though because business is going to be good.

I won't go too much into it.
For many this is an opportunity for a human rights march but the reality it is organised to be something else.

I won't bore anyone with references but this is part of an orchestrated campaign which is riding piggy back on a legitimate march concept.

First some of the artists who pulled out of the inauguration did so because they received threatening calls whereby they would never work again, It's in google but no one bothered to watch.

Then no less than Angela Davis appears on the women's march website as an honorary Chair for the March. She's made quite a few of her traditional drum thumping speeches. Her Marxist group split from the main Communist party in 1991. I worked in a communist country 10 years and while pleasant it's ideology is incompatible with US values on Free speech.

Then the March organisers hosted convicted kidnapper and killer Donna Hylton jailed for first degree kidnapping and 2 counts of second degree murder in 1986 and served 27 years. Things like that don't rest well for too long with the public.

On BBC which never says anything about Trump there was a documentary about Republican students being harassed at US Universities by those who claim (and some may be) Democrats.

The March is all about what Trump said in 2005. No on cares what Bill did in the Oval office as the public weren't interested.
The 2005 "Trump even" is being orchestrated by the pink pussycat hats. These hats are in fact a metaphorical nose ring.

In the UK elections, the Tories won a majority of 12 seats with just 36.1 % of the Vote because there is no proportional representation. The UK also has problems but it has had 200 or so years to make changes. The Democrats have at times controlled both houses yet the Electoral College still stands,

There is a problem in Europe from a handful of migrants who entered and some attacks were carried out in Paris, Belgium, Germany and earlier the UK. There are few but nonetheless some were very destructive as mentioned in the Indian Times

I took out the parts that had no bearing on the march for most of the 4+ million people who participated.

You're welcome.
Now you know.

So you basically concede that the March actually had nothing to do with the inauguration, it just got a lot more attention because the day BEFORE the March was the inauguration of a sexist whackjob.

Then no less than Angela Davis appears on the women's march website as an honorary Chair for the March. She's made quite a few of her traditional drum thumping speeches. Aside from the fact that you're pulling the "communists are EVILLLLLLL!" card as if none of us have ever had the... er... pleasure of arguing with a Marxist before (lol), this doesn't really demonstrate anything except that the organizers consider Angela Davis to be a feminist, whatever else she may be. So I'm not really sure what your point is.

Which, again, has what to do with the Women's March?

The March is all about what Trump said in 2005.
You just said earlier that it didn't. It's a "legitimate march concept", to use your own words. It's just that the concept seems ALOT more relevant than it otherwise might have the day after the man who just got sworn into the presidency has been on record bragging about how he likes to sexually harass and demean women just because he's rich. Yes, that was the trigger for the March's popularity, but that isn't what the march was ABOUT.

You might as well argue that the entire Civil Rights Movement was all about what happened to Emmet Till.

No on cares what Bill did in the Oval office as the public weren't interested.
I'm not twelve, dude. I remember the 90s. HELL YES the public was interested. Bill Clinton was mocked ruthlessly on late night television, lampooned VICIOUSLY in Mad Magazine, openly derided on talk radio, had his asshole pried wide open for the lube-free insertion of Rush Limbaugh's rhetorical foot.

And this was dampened by the fact that the only thing more absurd and embarassing than Bill Clinton's actions was the Republican reaction to it. After all these years there are still a number of political jokes to which "Kenneth Star" is the punchline.

There is a problem in Europe from a handful of migrants who entered and some attacks were carried out in Paris, Belgium, Germany and earlier the UK. There are few but nonetheless some were very destructive as mentioned in the Indian Times

Which has WHAT to do with the women's march, again?

By definition quoting facts is not tin foil, especially when it is non specific.
