Kapaernick

When one has a morally bankrupt opinion, just change the game, I guess, and call everyone "big morons" for agreeing to the tacit premises. So it's better to argue semantics and failed premises than it is to try to champion the idea that corporations can force employees to politically express themselves in a way that is different from their personal views. It's like rearranging the premise chairs on the sinking ship of ConservoLibertarianism.

Huh? Now it's a morally bankrupt opinion that Kaepernick is marginal-at-best NFL football player?

Maybe it's time to adjust the meds.

No.

No, changing your meds will not help you understand posts better.

Not sure why it took so long, but numb nuts weighed in last night. He wants the owners to fire anyone who protests, and wants all the fans to walk out.

Players have already told him to fuck off.

It's a wonderful way to get more players - and players in other leagues and sports - to join in.

Hopefully it will kill NA being played at all games except international competitions.

Once again, he's uniting the country.

I think they'll eventually start doing it while the players are in the locker room after warming up.

It's just an ignorant opinion.

Morality doesn't enter the picture.

Since there are seventy quarterbacks in the NFL and both ABC Sports and Fox Sports both rank Kaepernick at about thirtieth in the NFL, he should easily get a place on a squad.

Wow, I'd have to see those polls. The problem with Kap is that he isn't a pocket QB. No one likes the running QBs anymore. Below is a pretty reasonable estimation of Kap's position:

https://www.si.com/mmqb/2017/06/07/colin-kaepernick-backup-quarterbacks

SI ranks him about 30th of QBs. Clearly he has enough talent to be a backup, marginal starter in a pinch. Complicating the issue is that some teams prefer the backup to be a company person who is there mostly to support the starter. They don't want the drama. Still other teams have owners who are very right wing (NY Jets!). He's also sabotaged his position several times. For example, he wore a Castro shirt when Miami was looking for a QB. Then his girlfriend re-tweeted a picture of the Baltimore Owner posing with one of his players calling him a slave master. That was pretty dumb as Baltimore would have been perfect for Kap.

Has there been anyone yet refusing to stand for the anthem for the sheer stupidity of doing it for intranational games alone? How would that play?

I do not have the time to read through the entire thread. I did look through the first few posts.

Derec is right. Derec is correct.

All I can say is this: Yo, I make about 25K a year. I work my fucking ass off all fucking day. And here you are, a fucking millionaire, taking a kneel (how could you, you spoiled bastard), because the USA, comprised of millions of people of various backgrounds, happens to harbor a certain amount of the population who are racist, and who think black people are inferior? Well guess the fuck what, this country is founded on the idea that people can think whatever the fuck they want, as long as their thoughts DO NOT infringe on the rights of any other person. Guess what, Kapaernick, individuals have the right to think whatever the fuck they choose to think, and that INCLUDES people who think black people are inferior to white people. They are assholes, and any rational person knows that they are assholes, but in America, we tolerate the thoughts of assholes. DEAL WITH IT.

I say, go play in the Canadian league, where you won't make anywhere fucking near the money you are making playing in the NFL. And you know it, you hypocrite. Go play somewhere ELSE. In a few years, nobody will even remember who you are.

Stand the fuck up and appreciate what you have, where you are, and what breaks you've gotten. Stand the fuck up, or get the fuck out of this country.

The words I put in bold are wrong, they always will be wrong. For the rest of your post? Well that is parts wrong and parts stupid.

Ok. I disagree of course. I think Derec is dead on.

For the rest of my post? As you say:

"Parts wrong and parts stupid" is, erm, um...well how do I say this delicately...um...I mean, I don't want to hit any triggers or upset you in any way...so, gosh, um, wait, what? Oh, gosh, how do I put this so you won't be hurt and have to go back to your safe space...gosh...let me see...

You have not made an argument. Please make an argument, so I have something to respond to. Thanks!

To me kneeling looks like you are showing MORE respect.

But if a man of color does it believe me white racists will be upset.

The black man to them is always supposed to just take what he gets and like it.

The black man to them has no valid opinions about social problems.

Oh bullshit.

This NFL player has had more opportunity than 99 percent of the population. He is using his fame and his fortune as a lever to achieve even more than he already has.

He is doing the classic Jesus Christ pose: Hero and victim.

He is on top of the world, with millions of dollars, an example of how any individual can succeed in America: but, that's not enough for him: now he wants MORE. He wants to be revered for being a great athlete, and at the very same time he wants to be revered for taking a stand against racism. He is the perfect example of EGO in overdrive. The millions of dollars for playing a game wasn't enough. He requires even MORE attention. If I owned the team he was on, he'd have been fired already. It isn't as if he doesn't have the opportunity to, oh, gosh, make a little effort, and write a book about systemic racism, or to do something that would require work. Taking a knee is easy. Nice and easy. Like making millions for playing a game.

Disgusting show of ego in overdrive, and yes, he's spoiled rotten.

And once that last part stops, I'm sure the protests will stop too. Deal with it.

He wants to be revered so badly that he hasn't done an interview or public appearance in nearly a year. I guess that's his master plan. It's diabolical.

So much here is clueless and wrong. Just as a start:

  1. The implication that he has no right to protest or try to make things better because he makes more money than you
  2. The implicit assumption that he was only protesting racist THOUGHTS.
  3. The explicit mention that in America we tolerate assholes as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others, yet complete intolerance for his actions even though he didn't infringe on the rights of others
TBH, it sounds like you're angry at how your life turned out and are taking it out on someone who you think 'got a better deal' and then still dared to express discontent. Money doesn't turn life into rainbows and happiness. Even if it did, HE ISN'T COMPLAINING ABOUT MONEY. He's protesting that his fellow Americans are being unjustly killed, imprisoned, and oppressed, every day, and that many people don't seem to care. You know, the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that this country was founded upon. I don't recall seeing 'asshole thoughts' there too, maybe you could point out where that is?
