"Me Too" Judge Roy Moore

That is a particularly oddly worded question, "Did you do these things?" vs "Do you remember doing these things?"

That is a particularly oddly worded question, "Did you do these things?" vs "Do you remember doing these things?"

Having been interviewed on the radio before I will tell you that the interviewer had a brief conversation with me first. Then, the interview proceeded. I suspect this is a practice by interviewers because they do not want interviewees going "duuhhhh" while trying to think about answers. They also want them to be calm before they start. And they may just be curious to have a convo. So, in all, I think Hannity already discussed it with Moore and so he had adjusted his question subconsciously to be compatible with the answer, did so in an effort to make interview smoother, or wanted to frame it in the same way as Moore because of biased politics.

What happened next? Did Hannity challenge his qualifications for office due to a bad memory? Did he express skepticism? If not, I think the odds of the questions being framed pro-Moore and biased are higher...

I do not think the US treatment of consensual sex in this case is in any way sane. If they engaged in consensual sex, I do not think that should be treated tantamount to rape just because of some arbitrary cutoff, nor do I think it should torpedo a political career 38 years later.

Why don't we do this, for starters: have some intrepid journalist delve into cases prosecuted or heard by Roy, to see if he ever went after or sentenced anyone because they violated that "arbitrary" cutoff. Just for some perspective.

This arbitrary notion of possession... bah! I take what I want. Things have owners... these owners are people... the arbitrary line between one owner and another is bullshit. I take what I want when I want it and it is mine! spare me your arbitrary "names" of specific people and whatnot... it's owned... by a person... might as well be me, since it is arbitrary.

With the amount of things this person is unable to remember, is this person competent to serve? It seems there may be some early signs of "elderly brain problems" setting in.

Same with Trump... He said he has the best memory of all time... but he doesn;t remember some certain things that like just happened this year... might need a brain scan to find the tumor... since there can be no other explanation for the best memory in recorded history forgetting so many things...

Having conducted many interviews on the radio, I will tell you that they're all recorded in advance and edited. Some (but not all) subjects will agree on topics of discussion beforehand. The more important the figure/celebrity, the more likely they are to have a publicity flack/PR rep give you a list of things they're promoting and/or don't want to talk about. Politicians are a different animal as they usually have their talking points set out beforehand and will try to steer the conversation back to those points.

Setting in? No, it is the Republican Defense manual. When in doubt, say you can't remember. You can't be charged as easily for lying if you say you don't remember.

right... but you cannot serve in office if your brain is not functioning correctly.. right?

I am being facetious. I am trying to say that you can either have your "lack of memory" defense and retire to an old-folks home, or you can have a functioning brain and the chips fall where they will.

Politics is basically always a gamble, and at the moment, Moore is letting it ride on the above interview's shaky bet.

Well McConnell is saying Moore should step aside. This reminds me of the Todd Akins thing... if Todd Akins had been fired from being a judge once and had to resign the second time.
article said:
"I believe the women, yes," McConnell told reporters in Kentucky.

McConnell, the Senate's top Republican and a frequent target of Moore on the campaign trail, said, "I think he should step aside."
Well, McConnell keeps running a tight ship. He demanded the same thing of Trump too when the accusations were coming out against him. Granted, those women were of legal age, and not Trump's first picks.

I guess Moore subscribes to the doctrine that offense is the best defense.

Surprising that Derec would defend
Not exactly defending him, in the sense that if accusation are true he did nothing wrong.
But
a) nothing has been proven yet.
b) it was a very long time ago
c) it's a relatively low level offense.

Where do you get "racist"? Should he have gone after black teenage girls too to avoid disparate impact?

Theocrat, that I'd give you. But I have seen no evidence of racism.

P.S.: This newest accuser is alleging actual assault. However, since she's been dug up by Gloria Allred, I'd take these claims with this.

It just keeps getting worse.

A new accuser emerged on Monday and claimed that Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore tried to rape her when she was just a teenager.
----
While the two of them were in Moore’s car, she alleges, Moore started groping her breasts. She then says that she tried to escape the car, but Moore locked her door to prevent her from leaving.
She then said Moore “began squeezing my neck attempting to force my head into his crotch.” She says that she resisted his advances until he eventually gave up.
Upon letting her go, however, Moore warned her to not tell anyone what had happened.

“You are a child, I am the district attorney,” she alleges Moore told her. “No one will believe you.”
---

Just the sort of man we want sitting in the Senate for 6 years.

It just keeps getting worse.

Assuming she is telling the truth. Remember, Crystal Magnum and Jackie Coakley spun yarns that deceived many.

I think he is lying about all of this. He was a sexual predator. Not to mention grifter. (His charity that gives little to charity, but much to him and his family). And his extremist right winged politics. He does not have good judgment.

Most objectionable is the attacks on the women who told their stories. The sad old song of the old philandering goat cornered.

As pundits like Fox News’ Sean Hannity rush to defend Alabama’s GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore against allegations that he had inappropriate sexual relationships with teens when he was in his 30’s, the lawyer of one of Moore’s accusers plans on fighting back. Josh Moon of the Alabama Political Reporter tweeted that Paula Cobia, who represents Gloria Deason, a woman who said Moore dated her when she was 18 and he 32, intends on filing defamation suits against Moore and his supporters.
“Paula Cobia, attorney for Moore accuser Gloria Deason, says she is preparing lawsuits against Moore and any other individual, including politicians and church leaders, who publicly defamed her client and put Deason in harms way,” Moon wrote on Monday.

------

Even if he dropped out of the race today, this will drag on and on.

I think he is lying about all of this.
Maybe. Maybe not. It seems pretty clear he liked them young. But the 16-18 year girls he pursued said he never forced himself on them.
He was a sexual predator.
Again, maybe. Maybe not.
Not to mention grifter. (His charity that gives little to charity, but much to him and his family). And his extremist right winged politics. He does not have good judgment.
Now these are things that have actually been substantiated and that are much more relevant to his Senate run. Instead, we are sidetracked by decades old allegations of sexual misconduct and are conflating issues of alleged sexual assault (the new accuser), underage sexual contact (Leigh Whatsherface) and merely dating girls that, while certanly young, were of age under prevailing (and current) laws of Alabama.
Those are very different issues, and people conflating all those cases is illogical.

Most objectionable is the attacks on the women who told their stories. The sad old song of the old philandering goat cornered.
Yeah, denying guilt is the surest sign of the guilt, right?

What exactly is "inappropriate" with dating an adult young woman? Are you going to say that's "pedophilia" as well because reasons? I mean the age difference was less than Bill Clinton and Monica, so was he a pedophile as well under this new, expansive, lets-make-words-mean-whatever-we-want-them-to-mean definition of the term?

Actually, until 2020, I think.
