there was a doctored video in which her Firing Line interview was quote mined and butchered to make her sound incoherent and stupid, but the specific part of the interview where she talked about the Occupation of Palestine wasn't included, so that means she lied about the video being doctored? To correct Derec, Cynthia McKinney was replaced by a black woman who was only in Congress for one term. Her name is Denise Magette. ( not sure if I spelled that correctly ) She was highly qualified for the job. I don't know if she ran again or not. I don't follow what happens in the 4th district very closely. But, one thing I do agree with Derec on is that Cynthia McKinney was a total nut job. Just sayin'.

AOC is most likely further to the left than I am, but I think it's a good idea to have a wide variety of opinions and ideas among the people in Congress. Let's see how AOC does after she gets some actual experience. But, I'm a strong believer in compromise, as I've said many times. That's my only complaint about people on the far left or far right for that matter. They think they know it all and they don't like to work with those who have other ideas, even if they are in the extreme minority.

McKinney did a few good things but she was a raging conspiracy theorist to the point where she's been called the Democrats Michele Bachman. Remember her? They are both nuts.

I'm not going to list all of the crazy, outrageous things she believed, but imo, she's as crazy as Trump. She even believed in the Pizza gate nonsense about Hillary Clinton. She spoke out against dictators, but she liked Gaddafi. How nuts is that? At one point, she said that the police killed 5000 victims of Hurricane Katrina and hid the bodies. She thought the assassination of MLK and JFK were government plots. etc. etc. etc. Just because you support some of her positions, doesn't mean that wasn't nuts.

She lost her first election in 2002, not 2006. When the woman who replaced her ran for the Senate, she did win one more term. She's from a district that always votes Democrat, just like AOC. I'm not saying that AOC is nuts. We don't know enough about her to make any judgements on her. She may turn out to be a very good Congress person. Time will tell.

Anyway, I looked up what she's doing now. She's currently teaching at a college in Bangladesh.

The idea that pharmaceutical companies are not spending billions of developing drugs is laughable. Even with access to publicly funded research actually developing drugs is expensive especially given that many proposed compounds fail on some level of testing.
Instead of demonizing pharmaceutical companies, how about we work on ending freeloading by countries who get these drugs without paying their fair share? If Canadians and Indians etc. paid their fair share, drug prices in the US could be lower.

I do not know why you think that what you wrote is a "correction" of me. This is what I wrote:

And then she came back like a movie villain but was replaced for good by a black man. I know all that. I used to live in GA4.

I think one of the things that people (including me) find grating about her, in addition to her views, is that she obviously thinks she is all that and a bag of chips. As if people already in House can't teach her anything and that it's really her who should run the show. Just the impression I get from her tweets/statements.
