Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

I have no problem with research. Attempting to set an implementation timeframe that's impossible even if the tech was already on the shelf isn't reasonable.

Her proposal requires developing a new energy storage technology, testing it and deploying it on a massive scale in 12 years. That simply isn't going to happen. She seems to think 9 women can produce a baby in a month.
No, it does not require a damn thing - it sets an aspirational goal. There is no plenty for missing the timetable. Your criticism is based on misinformation or worse.

And you're still missing the fact that giving people an obviously impossible goal is not the path to get them to do their best to accomplish it. People don't go the extra mile when they know it doesn't matter.

She's one of a kind so far because she's doing this without the connections someone like Trump enjoys. I seriously worry for her safety and hope her fate may not be similar to that of Paul Wellstone, who arguably ended up giving his life for progressive causes.

Don't worry. She won't be travelling on any small planes because she takes the train everywhere, right?

What is it with socialists and their trains? Do they actually understand that ALL trains are built using fossil fuels including mining the iron ore to build them, or that they also use the same fuels to power them? Sure many trains use electricity, but it's generated by burning fossil fuels, and will remain so long into the foreseeable future.

Since she wants the grid running on 100% renewables they wouldn't be using fossil fuels to operate.

Never mind building them, the environmentalists rarely look beyond the first layer.

The Myth of High Youth Unemployment in France

In France, many fewer young people work than in the United States because higher education is largely free and students get stipends from the government. As a result, the employment rate for French youth is 28.3 percent, compared to 50.1 percent for the United States. If we look at unemployment as a share of the total youth population, the 8.7 percent rate in France is not hugely higher than the 5.8 percent rate in the United States.

Students being forced to work to pay for skyrocketing education costs is seen as a plus by some US capitalists.

8.7% is 50% above 5.8%. That's a big difference in my book.

t is not a fact that this is an impossible goal. Apparently there are plenty of people who believe it is possible.

People don't go the extra mile when they know it doesn't matter.
You are missing the basic reality that there is nothing in setting any goal that requires or implies that people go the extra mile.

I happen to be very skeptical that the goal will be reached. But that goal does not make her loony.

That article says France pays 3 times more for health care than the US.

The first "fact" checked turns out to be bullshit.

Only a bullshitter would link to it.

That France pays three times more than the US in healthcare reinforces the fact that in socialism, someone always has to pay for the seemingly free lunch!

What's anti-semitic about that quote? Being against the actions of the government of Israel is not synonymous with being against Jews in general.

That's like saying that if you criticize the crackdowns of the Chinese government on dissidents it means you're a racist who hates asians.

The first statement is clearly false. If anything it's the Palestinians that have hypnotized the world, continually sacrificing their own people and blaming Israel for it.

The Palestinians, like islam itself have perfected the playing the victim card to perfection!

I was really hoping AOC would have the guts to unequivocally defend Ilhan Omar's entirely accurate tweets about the Israel lobby, but she caved and applauded Omar for apologizing.

I'm fine with her quote there as well. The Israeli apartheid machinations in the West Bank is close enough to the funky work 'evil' in my book. The US sure didn't like it when South Africa was doing similar shit. Maybe she has said something anti-semitic, but I haven't seen it presented anywhere so far...not that I've been looking for it.

You haven't seen it? WTF is that image above then?

The quote is misattributed. Omar tweeted that in 2012, prior to becoming a US Representative. Attribution should reflect that. As posted, it is deceptive.

I certainly think she should apologize and/or retract her words right after Trump apologizes and retracts his bigoted, racist, sexist remarks about grabbing women by the pussy, calling various women bitches, his disparaging remarks about women in general, about blacks, Muslims, and immigrants.

While she might have said it before she was a US representative that doesn't make it not her words.

She appears to be a supporter of suicide terrorism in the United States. Is that what you want to see more of?

yup

A true statement about Israel. I don't see anything about Jews so come off it and quit eating glue

France doesn't pay 3 times more than the US. It pays half as much.

The bullshit you posted is a bunch of lies for children.

If we use consistent rules used against Rep. Omar, then your statement can be interpreted as racism against the French.

I expected you would be.

You must be careful to distinguish West Bank from Gaza. They are two very different entities with different statuses, different governments and different issues.
LOL...like apples and oranges right? You must be Greek... Sure, that is why #Palestine was within Omar's tweet.

By the way, one reason why Israel can't leave West Bank (other than its disputed status) is that it cannot risk it becoming a terrorist entity like Gaza. If that were to happen, a much higher share of the Israeli population would be in the line of fire from even short range Qassam rockets like the cities of the Gaza envelope are right now.
Another laughable comment, as the Israeli's aren't simply occupying to prevent it from becoming a terrorist entity; they are systematically dividing and stealing parts of the West Bank and have been doing this for 3 decades. Israel has 2 long term choices with their apartheid: one, let the Palestinians become citizens of their country, or let them go their own way. Apartheid is a growing cancerous and massive obstacle to any possible peace, it is not simply a 'not leaving'.

LOL..it is a criticism of Israeli political/military policy. That ain't 'hating Jews'. It certainly isn't any worse than some Fuck Face talking about 'shit-hole countries' among his litany of hate filled comments.

Maybe she should offer to resign together with Don the Con as part of a joint mea culpa...

"Crazy eyes" Cortez and antisemitic Omar are gifts to the GOP. Let them become the faces of the Democratic party for 2020.

You haven't seen it? WTF is that image above then?

As has been asked before - what is the anti-semitic part of that? Criticizing the government of Israel is not anti-semitism anymore than criticizing the government of Britain means that you hate Christians.

Well, he criticized France. So that's racism right there against the French.
