Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

If you believe that Jews are the only people on the face of the Earth who are doing "evil" when they defend their country from aggression, then yes, it is hating Jews.
So that would mean people like Steve Scalise, Pompeo, and Bolton hate Palestinians? Sadly far too many people are myopic and can only recognize one side of a major issue...

It certainly isn't any worse than some Fuck Face talking about 'shit-hole countries' among his litany of hate filled comments.
There is some truth to his statements. Economic mass migrants from the third world are trying to come to the US and EU by the millions because their countries can reasonably be described as "shithole countries".
Sure, I don't think FFvC's comment there was at his worst, nor was it particularly racist. It was crass and insulting, and not something most people want in their president.

Maybe she should offer to resign together with Don the Con as part of a joint mea culpa...
Not an even exchange. How about Ilhan Omar and Steve King?
My comment was an idea for a retort, not a 'plan of action' idea. Besides, King should have resigned or thrown out a long time ago.

You want more suicide terrorism?!?!

Oh god yes. Sweet suicide terrorism injected directly into my veins please.

Here is a nice article: Amazon's NYC Deal Was Extortion Without the Dick Pics

She's a special kind of stupid. (screenshot of tweet snipped)
That tweet: Spectrum News NY1 on Twitter: "Rep. @AOC on Amazon: "We should not be giving away our infrastructure, our subway system, our schools, our teachers' salaries, our firefighters' budgets, to a company that has not shown good faith to New Yorkers. And we can ask for more because we deserve more."… https://t.co/FDQNA7gYtR"

I think that she is right. Very, very, very right. She argued that Amazon ought to do what Google did: not ask for handouts.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Amazon is paying $0 in taxes on $11+ billion in profit. $0 for schools. $0 for firefighters. $0 for infrastructure. $0 for research and healthcare. Why should corporations that contribute nothing to the pot be in a position to take billions from the public?… https://t.co/rJqXxeymmO"
She retweeted: Nick Kolakowski on Twitter: "The HQ2 "search" was always a thinly disguised attempt to extract maximum tax concessions for opening a satellite office. If you want proof of that: Amazon isn't re-opening the HQ2 search, and it's still hiring in NYC."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Anything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.… https://t.co/EGic6XVJ26"
Referring to
J. David Goodman on Twitter: "AMAZON CANCELS PLAN TO COME TO NEW YORK "After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens" - Amazon spokeswoman Jodi Seth"

Wow, I have to say that I'm stunned at how Cortez and Warren chased Amazon out of New York. I would love for Amazon (who contributes nothing???) to bring their 25,000 nothing jobs that pay $150,000 a year to the Northwest. The multiplier effect and the sheer amount of taxes paid by these workers would absolutely transform a community. I'm a proud democrat who will not vote for Trump. But it would be dang hard for me to vote for a democrat who would derail so many great jobs for cheap political gain.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "“Economists have long warned against the financial mirage of tax incentives for corporations.” “Suddenly the green curtain was pulled back,” said Greg LeRoy. “People are aghast at what they saw, and rightfully so.” https://t.co/josb97OQOq"
Noting In the End, Amazon Didn’t Win Its Own Subsidy Game - The New York Times
Economists have long criticized tax breaks to corporations; politicians and the public may be starting to share their skepticism.

In exchange for tens of thousands of tech jobs, cities promised Amazon the moon — and an airport lounge, and naming rights, and a chance to pocket its own employees’ taxes. States offered incentive packages worth $7 billion, $8.5 billion, $9.7 billion, any of which would have set records.

But now Amazon will walk away from the largest and most public subsidy auction in history with relatively few giveaways to show for it.
$570 million from northern Virginia and $100 million from Nashville, TN. Neither one will include the perks that NY politicians offered.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Is that culture of “strict performance” why Amazon workers have to urinate in bottles & work while on food stamps to meet “targets?” “Performance” shouldn’t come at the cost of dehumanizing conditions. That’s why we got rid of sweatshops. https://t.co/pV52uLVPcw… https://t.co/E9tnGJhSjD"
noting
Chad Felix Greene on Twitter: "Amazon is a strict performance-heavy organizational structure demanding higher and higher performance goals at every level of the company from seasonal frontline customer service to the VP's. Union culture conflicts too strongly.… https://t.co/ODoWeHaTrQ"
noting
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Amazon touting “jobs” (has anyone fact-checked where this 25k number even came from? How many were promised to be local hires?) ...but they refused to even consider hiring union when we insisted labor be part of the conversation. Union jobs are a key ladder to the middle class.… https://t.co/0P3RQqpuCE"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "This deal wasn’t a simple tax break. It was $3 BILLION dollars. When the community wanted to negotiate, Amazon said “all or nothing.” They bailed when they didn’t get 100% of what they wanted. Google came into NYC just fine. Amazon wanted to be FoxConn: https://t.co/Ce9gVb7jg8"
Inside Wisconsin’s Disastrous $4.5 Billion Deal With Foxconn - Bloomberg: "A huge tax break was supposed to create a manufacturing paradise, but interviews with 49 people familiar with the project depict a chaotic operation unlikely to ever employ 13,000 workers."

Under Scott Walker, Wisconsin didn't have money for schoolteachers, but it did have money for grotesque giveaways like this.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Yeah I’m laughing @ this. Amazon was not coming to my Congressional district, had no concentrated outreach to us that I’m aware of, yet w/ no effort I defeated the richest man in the world? Doesn’t add up. Story that’s not being told: the local community organized to reject it.… https://t.co/zPkM7ypPBC"
noting
Anthony Atamanuik on Twitter: "I’m also amazed that this @amazon pullout is now being placed on @AOC on @MSNBC ?! Somehow this one person, not the Governor or Mayor, not the terrible Amazon deal. Apparently, it’a all the fault of a freshman congressperson."

Hey hey hey
Goodbye

Yea, I feel bad the for the workers and the people in the Queens area. They could have used the economic development. However, it's pretty good news for Atlanta or Georgia (or wherever they decide to move those jobs to).

AOC and others in Queens learned by the sad experience of other cities like San Francisco that such things are not a big plus for cities.
Besides the massive giveaways for Amazon, it would have brought in large numbers of highly paid personnel. This would have caused real estate prices and rents to rise drastically, and made already high cost residences far more costly. That would push out lower paid Queens residents, and would see a rise in homelessness. Already burdened infrastructure would be worsened. Traffic would become almost impossible. And other bad knock on effects.

There was very good reason to not want Amazon in Queens, New York.

I am not surprised that people didn't want Amazon in Queens. The area is already very congested, with a shortage of affordable housing. There would likely be increased gentrification and horrendous traffic if Amazon had located there. And, why does Amazon need a 3 billion tax break? Why not use that money to improve the infrastructure, repair the cities dilapidated housing that serves low income people etc.?

I'm not at all against businesses, but I was relieved when Amazon decided not to locate to the Atlanta area. The traffic in Atlanta is already obscene, and housing is becoming unaffordable for the people who might have been willing to work for the lower paying jobs that would have been provided by Amazon. There are already an abundance of low paying jobs as well as jobs for tech professionals in ATL. If Amazon wanted to do something positive, it would choose to locate in a mid size city that has lots of land in its suburbs that need to be developed. They chose NY for one reason, the huge tax break.

Anyone following the latest nonsense about AOC? Apparently her boyfriend has an email address that allows him to view her schedule. This is very common for families and partners of members of Congress. But, the loons on the right have been spreading lies that she has put the man on the payroll and his salary is being paid by the taxpayers. It's all fake news. He's not a staff member. Why in the world are these alt right snowflakes so afraid of this young woman? Seriously, they need to get a life.

Alt right? Er, no...more like mainstream Democrats. And practically since day 1:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/11/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-democrats-establisment-1093728

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already making enemies in the House Democratic Caucus — and some of its members are mounting an operation to bring the anti-establishment, democratic socialist with 2.2 million Twitter followers into the fold.

The effort, described by nearly 20 lawmakers and aides, is part carrot, part stick: Some lawmakers with ties to Ocasio-Cortez are hoping to coax her into using her star power to unite Democrats and turn her fire on Republicans. Others simultaneously warn Ocasio-Cortez is destined for a lonely, ineffectual career in Congress if she continues to treat her own party as the enemy.

wow, beave. That's super.....cutting, what politico says about democratic feelings about AOC. Almost as bad as claiming her boyfriend is on govt. payroll or any of the other crazy right (not alt right just right) wing theories about AOC. Like how she's a secret lesbian and secretly really rich and all that.

Obviously the Dems are super threatened by her and not at all interested in helping a fellow member of Congress find a way to be the most effective that she can be.

AOC has had an impact because she represents the frustrations of progressive Dems.

Too long the Dems have been GOP-lite, especially in economic matters. Bringing AOC "into the fold" means neutralizing the very issues that have made her popular. It's the party that has to change, not AOC.

That said, she has been playing ball to a certain extent. She supported Pelosi, and Pelosi's "pay go" policy is the very idiocy AOC opposes.

Like how she's a secret lesbian
The only one I saw call her a lesbian was Elixir in one of his trademark unhinged rants.
AOC is only 29. She isn't old enough to run for president or vice president. Minimum age is 35.

Yabut that's only six years ahead. And it took almost thirty years of mud-slinging to get enough to stick to HRC to keep her out of the White House.
Trumpublicans are panicked because she doesn't couch the truth about their corruption in polite terms, so they are getting to work on her now, and with great fervor. With luck and some help from Uncle Vlad, they might be able to tar her sufficiently in six years. At least they can make an issue of her "crazy eyes", right, Derec? What real Trumpistani man isn't more attracted to lovely Donald's baby blues and soft blonde locks, than to the ugly brown lesbian and her crazy eyes?

You can accuse Elixir of many things, but being a "right-winger" is not one of them.

"Crazy eyes" Cortez and antisemitic Omar are gifts to the GOP. Let them become the faces of the Democratic party for 2020.

Glass houses, magaboy. AOC and Omar both have a very long way to fall before they ever come close to the depths of the drug addled, disorganized crime enterprising, orange fat combover, white somnambulist, 25th amendment candidate, walking word salad, that is the maga cult leader.

I think they're moving toward pretending they don't know Trump, never heard of him, kind of thing now.
