It is likely to go down as the biggest “October surprise” in the history of US presidential elections. Yet anyone who was paying attention could have seen it coming.

Donald Trump tested positive for the coronavirus after claiming “it will disappear”, telling the journalist Bob Woodward he was downplaying it deliberately, failing to develop a national testing strategy, refusing to wear a face mask for months, floating the idea of injecting patients with bleach, insisting to one of his many crowded campaign rallies that “it affects virtually nobody” and, at Tuesday’s debate, mocking his rival, Joe Biden: “He could be speaking 200 feet away and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”

It suggested a sense of invincibility even as more than 200,000 Americans died. But now the chickens have come home to roost, just as they did for the similarly cavalier British prime minister, Boris Johnson, and the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro.

Yeah, if it goes bad, it typically starts that phase about a week after symptoms begin, and it will be a sudden shift in severity.

Trump is getting good care and very early on, as opposed to most people, so he does have a better shot at beating it compared to the typical patient. The antibodies he's been given have shown positive results.

If he's just intubulated through the election and loses, then things are OK. If he dies before the election then the GOP would appoint a new candidate. That candidate may not attract the Trump cult but may be more acceptable to average republicans who have decide that Trump is too much for them. I don't know what scenario would increase the chances of Dems taking the senate and the president.

I'm daydreaming about what's going on in MAGA households this weekend. There's gotta be some sarcastic spouse (or better yet, a son or daughter with a little spunk and sass) who's beginning to question the family Trumpology. Trump has the virus and we are now seeing in real time the character and integrity displayed by other politicians with how they are reacting to this news. Especially hateful reactions of Pelosi and Schumer versus the encouragement of Biden, which I believe is very telling indeed of all their integrity. None of which would have occurred without Trump coming down with Covid. According to God's plan.

And I could be wrong but I do not think Randyjohnson is praying for God to change his plan. But rather is praying for the best outcome for Trump now that he does have the illness.

Examples of "especially hateful reactions", please. Then compare them to Trump and things he's said about others, especially the press.

Bear in mind that the man who ran the briefing, Dr. Sean Conley, is Trump's personal physician. He received his medical degree in osteopathic medicine in 2006. He is also the physician who admitted to prescribing hydroxychloroquine for Trump back in April. More recently, he described the monoclonal antibody treatment given to Trump as "polyclonal". I suspect that he may be motivated to do all that he can to say things that Trump would instruct or want him to say. For example, he would only say that Trump was not now on oxygen when asked if he had been. He claimed that Trump was free of fever, but another source has said that he still had a low fever. At first he said that Trump had been diagnosed 72 hours earlier, but he amended that after it blew up in the news.

We'll know that Trump is recovering when he gets released from the hospital or we see a live interview with him. Right now, he is not giving any interviews, and he tweets quite a bit less than he used to.

Hm. It's focused on DJT, which would be US Presidential forum, but his apparent rabid enthusiasm for DJT borders on religious p). I'd say US Presidential forum, but what exactly distinguishes it from Cheerful Charlie's 'DJT-has-Covid' thread? The cheerleading for DJT? Especially if it gets moved, it would help if the title could reflect the aim of the thread somehow.
