He just needs the courts to side with him. The same Supreme Court he has stacked in his favor. The coup scenario is simple. Barr calls for an investigation into what he claims are massive irregularities in the election. He creates a big enough furor to throw it all into doubt at least to Trump supporters. They go to the streets to demand that their local legislators pick the electors. Lawsuits and counter filed to stop this. But the Supreme Court says the legislators will controls. They pick the electors. Republicans control the legislatures in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Guess who they pick? Trump is declared victor.

The question is what happens then. Major riots would break out in virtually all major cities. Washington DC, Atlanta, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, even Birmingham. Trump will ask his new defense chief to repress the riots. Will the troops obey?

Don’t think it won’t happen. Americans are naive. I hope it doesn’t, but don’t think for a minute that’s fuckface won’t try. It all depends on the Supreme Court - the one dominated by Republicans 6 - 3.

That's the scenario I'm thinking about as well. That's the unprecedented blunt force against democracy I mentioned.

The easy answer to that is that cheating only happened in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Detroit. That’s why there’s a run off in Georgia. They have specifically called out those cities as corrupt. Certainly, massive voter fraud would have to be coordinated by the local governments, not by tens of thousands of individual actors.

Stealing the presidency for Biden does nothing if we don't steal at least the Senate at the same time. We'd surely have spent as much time and money crucifying McConnell.

The head of the branch of the Justice Department that prosecutes election crimes stepped down from his post Monday in protest over a memo from Attorney General William Barr to federal prosecutors authorizing them to investigate “specific allegations” of voter fraud before the results of the presidential race are certified.

Richard Pilger, who was director of the Election Crimes Branch of the DOJ, sent an email to colleagues saying he could not longer do his job in the wake of Barr’s memo, which was issued as the president’s legal team mount baseless legal challenges to the election results, alleging widespread voter fraud cost him the race.

“Having familiarized myself with the new policy and its ramifications, and in accord with the best tradition of the John C. Keeney Award for Exceptional Integrity and Professionalism (my most cherished Departmental recognition), I must regretfully resign from my role as Director of the Election Crimes Branch,” Pilger’s letter said, according to a copy obtained by NBC News.

Really. Talk about "The Nuclear Option". It would set a precedent that would wipe out the very foundation of a democratic republic.
 
Nope. Not gonna happen. I don't doubt that Trump and Barr will give it a try, but few others are likely to want to invite the burning down of democracy when it involves their own houses.

Sure, but it may not have been feasible. Ramping up democratic votes in the few states, actually counties/cities, that are typically democratic would be much easier than flipping republican seats all around the country.
 
I don’t believe rigging was done. Fine examples are how Graham nearly lost and no one is complaining about fraud in South Carolina. But I don’t think one can logically dismiss rigging simply because more Democrats didn’t win. It was well known that Biden only needed to win in a few places, clearly identified by Trump’s razor thin win in 2016. Focusing on just a few jurisdictions would be enough. And it would have to be an inside job. Faking ballots of stealing mail-in ballots wouldn’t get past the obvious, standard fraud protections that are in place for every election.

To flip the election would require strong evidence of this inside job, not just finding a few scattered examples of a handful of ballots improperly handled.

Excepting that their whole MO is "throw out the baby with the bathwater": identify a thing that is so minor it can't even be called a problem with any modicum of honesty, scream about how much a problem it is (with no evidence), and then solve the problem in a way that just-so-happens to have the secondary effect that you suspected they wanted from the start.

It reminds me of when my friend moved across the country and his husband took all the food and none of the cookware "by accident", and then when the husband got there tried leveraging new cookware (that they had wanted for months) because HoW Do I cOok AlL ThiS fOOD?

The friend's response was to overnight the cookware, which cost more than buying the new would, purely out of principle (come at the problem from the front or not at all!)

I think it’s more likely that witches exist than there was a widespread coordinated effort to steal the election by the Democrats.

They are. Soros money paying election officials to turn a blind eye or complicitly assist. Everything in politics requires money. No way could millions of people spontaneously reject The Annointed One.

Gotta be faeries then. Yeah. That's the ticket. But which ones?
Hollywood kind? Nope. Movies are pandemic destroyed.
Other Kind? Nope. Fascists are killing them as fast as possible.

Conclusion: No stealing since all the crooks are on Republican side.
 
Turns out the postal worker that claimed he witnessed vote tampering was lying and was paid $130,000 by republican operatives.

There's that $130,000 figure again.
