Impeachment II thread

Aha. I see. Yeah. I won't hold my breath

Actually Republicans want to be out from under Trumps influence. That's why McConnell has floated his openness to Impeachment. No one wants The Donald to be screwing with their party for four years then running again in 2024.

So I wouldn't neglect breath holding exercises just yet.

They want to give it another week. See the final riot favorability ratings among Republicans before they vote their conscience.

Ha ha ha

If the upper house finds him guilty is it called something else part from impeached?
Well, guilty is separate from conviction.
Last time he was impeached, they pretty much admitted he did it, just argued tgst it wasn't bad enough to kick him out of the office.
So, what we're looking for is enough votes in the Senate to convict.
If the upper house acquits him does that mean he is no longer impeached?
Nope. He is now half of the impeached presidents. Doesn't go away.
Just trying to work out (using a legal analogy) if the lower house has sent him to trial and the upper house puts him on trial?
mostly.
.
I cannot tell if that is because you yanks are just incompetent or just love seeing yourselves on the telly, so you generate your own press.
well, actually, Trump is incompetent AND he enjoys being on television. Needs it, even.

While I'm not really making a prediction,
It wasn't long ago that the Dems decisively winning both Georgia Senate seats was a huge long shot.

In August 1974, Nixon had pretty much confessed to obstruction of justice and further crimes were indicated. But he thought he could beat them in the senate. He only needed 34 votes and there were more Republicans than that. But then Senator Barry Goldwater and two other Republicans paid him a visit and gave him the harsh truth. He didn’t have 34 votes and they themselves would vote to convict. Nixon resigned shortly thereafter.

Where is the courage of Republican Senators now? The world wonders.

It's pretty bizarre how we've all been worn down by Trump's antics. The limits of acceptable behaviour has been shifted so far. If we place the Watergate Scandal next to Trump's, let's call it what it is, coup attempt, Nixon's crimes are minor by comparison. Not that I think that Trump's coup attempt was part of some nefarious scheme to overthrow the government. I doubt he put any thought into it what so ever. Just the antics of a petulant child. But he did what he did.

Speaking personally I've never been worn down. I recognized from day one that he was dangerous and deranged and that his minions were equally afflicted with their persecution mentality.

I just realized something. The Red Pillers are the mirror equivalent of Woke. Both have a persecution mentality, and both believe there's no need to work on themselves, the problem is other people and people with wrong ideas. Both as fucking deranged. Albeit the woke less physically dangerous.

IMPEACHED 232-197.

10 Repubs voted yea. Should have been unanimous though. Except for maybe his accomplices.
That means there are 197 members of congress who are fascists and would rather be fascists holding elected office than care about the country and the constitution.

Or maybe a better way to think about it is that there are 197 Holocaust Deniers in the House.

Not necessarily. Some are no doubt amoral assholes who will spout any nonsense if it gets them money and/or power. And some voted that way because they are afraid of the Republican voters:

I don’t hold much sympathy for them. They certainly knew the type of people they were trying to appeal to for votes, and should have known how easily Trump would abandon them at the slightest ‘disloyal’ act.

So now the big and brave patriotic Republicans are caving to terrorist's demands.

Hilarious.

You're drunk. Go home.

Insurrection, coups, sedition, holocaust deniers, fascist etc. it’s the ramblings of deranged people. And trolls.

Those are all real things, you know that, right?

So silly.

Trump lives rent free in your head. Therapy may help with that. I’m not certain though.

Sounds like you worry more for Trump than anyone.

I don't worry about the nonsense spouted on here. It's a bit of mindless entertainment to read the deranged ramblings on here. I doubt even the most fervent believe their own crap.

Well, do you really expect some group that understands humor so little (or abuses the concept so heavily) as to claim racist, selfish, prejudiced, or misogynistic statements are mere "humor" to deflect from the reality that they said and believe such bullshit to understand why Nazi terrorists killing and threatening people aren't funny?

They are sadistic sociopaths. I don't see why we entertain them here, knowing full well that they are unproductively disruptive and acting in bad faith.

Just a question (or two) about the next installment in the Trump impeachment soap opera.

Your lower house has found him guilty and have sent him to the upper house. We are told that that means he has been impeached.
If the upper house finds him guilty is it called something else part from impeached?
If the upper house acquits him does that mean he is no longer impeached?

Just trying to work out (using a legal analogy) if the lower house has sent him to trial and the upper house puts him on trial?

I was truly hoping that once the election was over we would not be bombarded with US election news until the inauguration but no such luck.
I cannot tell if that is because you yanks are just incompetent or just love seeing yourselves on the telly, so you generate your own press.

The term Impeached is like being charged with a crime. In normal legal proceedings it would be a prosecutor or grand jury who charges someone with a crime. The person is charged but the trial has not begun. This is what the House just did.

Now it will go to the Senate where he will be tried and found either guilty or not guilty.

Hey, this impeachment stuff is really catching on with QAnon conspiracy theorists, Election fraud conspiracy theorists and assholes generally.

The newly minted congresswoman is a backer of the QAnon conspiracy theory
She voted against certifying the Electoral College votes for Biden last week
Greene said she plans to file articles of impeachment against Biden on Jan. 21

The 46-year-old former CrossFit gym owner won her seat in Georgia’s 14th district, one of the biggest Republican strongholds in the state, largely unchallenged after Democratic challenger Kevin Van Ausdal unofficially withdrew from the race months before the Nov. 3 election.

Greene defeated Van Ausdal by taking nearly 75% of the votes cast, and she has already turned heads in the House by publicly backing conspiracy theories and challenging face mask mandates. However, her latest move has even members of her own party cringing.

Humor is medicine! You go girl!
