Black Jogger Gunned Down In The Street

Based on video footage, it didn't look like the teen was jogging. According to other video footage, it didn't look like he did anything wrong except "trespass" on a construction site, something every kid or teenager in America has done.

Arbery was 25. Not a "teenager".

Therefore?

This is really disheartening and really exposes the issues of, at best, unintended systemic racism (or possibly just racism).

I think you're reading more into the situation than is there. There is simply nothing you can do about someone who has bled out and not a lot you can do about bleeding from the torso. While there might be racism giving up after a couple of minutes doesn't prove it.

He had not 'bled out' at that point and yeah, there is a lot you can do if someone is bleeding from the torso. It doesn't always work. In fact, CPR is rarely effective but people still try and sometimes lives are saved. Yeah, I am certified in CPR and other first aid. Have been since I was a teen and yeah, I've maintained my cert. including university classes.

The point is that the officer made no real effort to help someone who had been shot. I expect a great deal more than that from police officers and frankly from bystanders.

The police body cam recording shows that Arbery was still moving, and a voice can be heard saying he was still alive:

Yahoo News said:
The body camera footage shows the first officer arrive soon after hearing gunshots and finds the McMichaels standing on either side of Arbery, sprawled face-down on the pavement.

"All right guys, everybody’s got their weapons up, correct?” the officer asks. The men aren't holding guns.

“It's going to be OK,” Gregory McMichael tells him. “You had no choice.”

One of Arbery's legs moves and his head turns slightly. A gasping sound can be heard on the recording.

The second officer to arrive puts on rubber gloves, rolls Arbery over and presses a hand to the wound in his chest.

“He's still breathing, man,” says a man's voice nearby.

“I know. I'm going to try to do something for him," the officer replies. He stops after about two minutes and calls to tell dispatchers Arbery has died.

The police officer at least made some attempt to help Arbery. The McMichaels and Roddie Bryan didn't.

Former prosecutor indicted over Ahmaud Arbery case, accused of helping shield suspects in fatal shooting

Washington Post said:
A grand jury on Thursday indicted a former Georgia prosecutor for her handling of Ahmaud Arbery’s fatal shooting, on allegations she helped shield men now charged with murder in a case that went for months without arrests until a viral video sparked a national outcry.

Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jackie Johnson is accused of violating her oath of office and obstructing police in the Black man’s fatal shooting last February.

She should have recused herself immediately.

WaPo won't let me read the article. Why should she have recused herself? Had she a personal relationship with any of the shooters?
The cops?

It was all buddy buddy. Heck, the damn cops were consoling the shooters while the guy was bleeding to death on the ground. The investigator then sits on the case to let the steam escape in order to bury the killing. If stuff wasn't leaked, those guys would have had their scalp and living free.

One of the shooters was a former cop...and he became an investigator IN HER OFFICE.

The story does not go into a lot of detail, so you are not missing much, but this bit seems pertinent:

WAPO said:
The indictment says Johnson showed “favor and affection” to Greg McMichael, who was previously an investigator in her office

Seems that he worked for her at one point, but the story does not elucidate any further as to whether they had a personal relationship as well.

Oh, I see.

Yeah. That's a huge reason for passing the case to a less interested party. And makes a strong case for prosecutorial misconduct.

If you really cared, you could change your ad blocker temporarily to read the article. Here is the relevant part in my opinion:
Johnson’s office handled Arbery’s case only briefly, but she quickly drew scrutiny — in part for her relationship to the elder McMichael, a former police officer who worked in the Brunswick DA’s office until 2019. Greg McMichael called Johnson from the scene of the shooting and left a voice mail seeking advice: “Could you call me as soon as you possibly can?” he said, according to a recording submitted in court.

Greg McMichael’s phone log for that day did not show a call back from Johnson.

Three days after Arbery’s shooting, Johnson reached out to the state attorney general’s office asking that someone be assigned to advise the police, according to a letter provided by Carr’s office. But Johnson’s office had already brought in Waycross District Attorney George Barnhill to advise police starting the day after Arbery’s death — inappropriately inserting herself into the case, critics said.

Within a day of Arbery’s death, Barnhill had reviewed the evidence, met with police and told them he saw no reason to arrest any of the three men involved.

By April, under pressure from Arbery’s mother, Barnhill wrote that he believed it best to step aside, but still defended the suspects, saying Georgia law protected their right to perform a “citizen’s arrest” and then use deadly force in self-defense after Arbery “initiated the fight.”

Neither Johnson nor Barnhill initially told the attorney general that Barnhill had already stepped in, Carr’s office says, or that Barnhill might have conflicts of his own, because Barnhill’s son worked for Johnson. The attorney general appointed Barnhill.

I don't know how to change my ad blocker. I'm not even sure what that is, exactly.

And no, I am not interested enough in WaPo to figure it out.

Plenty of people, of all manner of biases, will deliver lots of information. I don't need any particular source for anything.
You just explained a very plausible reason for indicting Johnson. I have a clue about your biases, and also WaPo's. If Matt Drudge or Trausti had another take, I'd listen to them too.

I prefer heavily, overtly, biased sources, with a big variety.
Tom

I explained nothing. I presented the report you failed to access. You flatter yourself if you think you have a clue about my biases.

You think your biases are a secret?
Oh, please.

I read a lot of articles behind paywalls by going into a private browser mode. Not everyone will allow that but last I checked WaPo did.

However, @Laughingdog posted the part of the article that was relevant in his opinion.
It was detailed, plausible, and could be fact checked. I found it a reasonably good explanation for why Johnson(and probably others like Barnhill and McMichael) should be indicted.

But if I cared enough about one of the thousands of violent deaths in the USA every year to mess with my phone, I'd first go to Drudge Report. Their biases are also extremely clear. I'd see what their version of this story is. If it differs importantly, then I might go looking for more information on the subject. Maybe AlJazeera, or BBC, or some other news sources that don't have typical American biases.
Depends.
