Trump 2024?

The tell will be the 2022 result. (Not sure why none of y'all are talking about that.)

If gerrymandering and voter suppression give the Trumpublicans control of both houses of Congress, then TomC is right - it doesn't matter who votes for whom in 2024, it will be Trump or his heir to the throne. In that case, we should hope for Trump since anyone else selected by the Nazi alliance would likely be far less stupid and inept.

If, at the other extreme, events like the 1/6 investigation, pending lawsuits and criminal investigations conspire to enable Dems to swim upstream and gain real (sans DINOs) congressional control, it is likely that we will have seen the last of the Trumputinazis for a while.

In the very unlikely event that Congress stays the same after 2022, I think 2024 favors the abolition of democracy almost as much as would a 2022 rout by the GQP.

If a politician visits Iowa, it is a good indicator that he/she wants to run for President. Iowa's caucuses are the first primary event in a Presidential campaign, and that's a very obvious reason. What other big attractions does Iowa have?

Donald Trump will hold rally at Iowa State Fairgrounds on Oct. 9

Trump to head to Iowa with an eye on 2024 - POLITICO
Trump’s vice president Mike Pence, as well as his former UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, and secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, have all traveled to Iowa this year for GOP fundraisers or to address conservatives in the state. So too have South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), fueling speculation they are testing the waters for a presidential run.

2024 GOP battleground takes shape in Iowa | TheHill
Former President Trump, who garnered the attention of campaign watchers last month when he hired two Republican operatives in Iowa, is slated to hold a rally in the Hawkeye State in the near future.

Meanwhile, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) traveled to Iowa last month to campaign with Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) at a fundraiser in Fayette. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) also stumped with Hinson at her reelection campaign launch event last week, while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) visited the state on Monday and Tuesday.

Others who have been floated as potential candidates have also made the trip, including former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R ).

Recent visitors to Iowa:
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a potential 2024 contender, comes through Iowa
During Iowa visit, Marco Rubio won't say if he's running for president

So Donald Trump will join Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, and Kristi Noem in visiting that kingmaker state (or queenmaker as the case may be).

I can't find anything recent on Trump's children wanting to go to Iowa.

I also can't find anything about Ron DeSantis going there, even though the base likes him. In any case, DeSantis calls talk of a 2024 presidential bid 'nonsense'

DeSantis has become a GOP star due to his antagonism with the press, President Joe Biden and those opposed to his anti-lockdown, anti-mandate positions on battling Covid-19. His political committee has already raised more than $40 million since the beginning of the year for his reelection bid, with more than $4 million of those funds in July coming from donors in every state of the country.

In the last few months DeSantis has traveled to California, Utah, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Texas. Most of those trips have been confined to fundraising for his political committee, but he has appeared at events designed to raise his profile, including a national police convention, a national legislative conference and headlined a Pittsburgh GOP fundraising dinner.

He’s avoided stepping foot in early primary states such as Iowa and New Hampshire and scrapped a scheduled trip to Nevada last month due to a tropical storm that was threatening the state.
So he doesn't want to do what Presidential candidates typically do, but he instead wants to be a national figure in the Republican Party.
DeSantis is scheduled to appear this Sunday at Gov. Pete Ricketts' 5th annual Nebraska Steak-Fry along with former Vice President Mike Pence and Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz.

But the governor’s continued insistence that he is not contemplating a 2024 run — he’s up for re-election next year — hasn’t convinced his critics who see view the ongoing national fundraising effort as evidence of his growing ambitions. Democratic rivals such as Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.) are routinely painting DeSantis as someone who is more interested in pleasing potential GOP primary voters than what’s happening in his home state.

Those trips have also come under fire since Florida has seen a massive surge in Covid-19 cases this summer that overwhelmed many hospitals and caused a spike in Covid-19 related deaths. Fried lashed into DeSantis for a late August trip to New Jersey by tweeting out a photo of it and saying: “This is where Florida’s governor is during peak pandemic deaths…Laughing it up at a campaign fundraiser in New Jersey. Remember this in November.”

Trump builds ‘turnkey’ campaign operation for 2024 - POLITICO - "The former president is signaling a heightened interest in a rematch with Joe Biden — and laying the necessary groundwork."
Boots on the ground in Iowa. Accelerated fundraising. More national media interviews. A flood of new press statements. A rise in attack ads on the web.

With a flurry of activity from his main political committee and hints dropped in private conversations with confidantes and advisers, Donald Trump is signaling a heightened interest in reclaiming the White House — and laying the necessary groundwork to do it.

...
Perhaps more revealing, less than a month ago the PAC announced it hired two top operatives from Iowa dedicated to “advancing Save America’s goals of electing strong, pro-Trump, America First conservatives.”

The Iowa staffers also serve another purpose, Trump advisers say: they can keep an eye on the other potential Republican presidential candidates flooding the first-in-the-nation caucus state.

One person who has discussed Trump’s plans but declined to comment on the record to speak more freely said that “he really hasn’t decided, but we all think he’ll run … he wants to get in a position to where it’s a turnkey operation once he says yes. So he’s maximizing his position … the PAC is ostensibly to help win back the House and the Senate. If he does that, it makes his position stronger.”
Turnkey = something ready to use

One thing I'm noticing is Trump isn't out speaking, which tells me the campaigning coffers are empty (or being squandered by him).

I think he owes too many cities and venues. They won't let him come again until he pays the existing balance.
And if they're smart, they'll make him pay the next one in advance.

He's busy ex-presidenting.

More interestingly, "turnkey" implies it is packaged, portable, and easy for "anyone" to use.

A car, a house, a vending-machine business. You give someone the key and they can take it over completely.

I think Trump is imagining he can sell a political campaign the way he sold real estate. Or like the resorts, or Trump University, he licensed his name, and had nothing more to do with the operation afterwards.

Well, there goes another Poe. Reading this article, this event looks like a train wreck both with the promoter and the card. Was supposed to be De La Hoya verses Belfort. Should be called Has Beens of FIghting, and has a Heroes of Wrestling vibe to it.

So I guess adding Trump makes sense. Pour more fuel onto the dumpster fire.

Oddly, it looks like you have to either buy the normal broadcast or the Trump cast.

If Orange Shit does actually run, which I don't think he will because he's making a ton of money not running, I'm more interested in how those debates will go. In 2016 he was such a shock. His opponents tried to be civil because they were after the same crazy base. So I think they'll crazy him back next time with nothing to lose. Might be interesting.

Well the MAGA Pac is apparently spending 37,500 a month renting space in Trump Tower.
Wow...but beyond that the war chest seems still quite bigly.

Former President Donald Trump frequently teases another presidential bid, without actually announcing, a strategy that leaves him with access to a $102 million war chest, an unrivaled haul that could scare off donors to other candidates and freeze the Republican 2024 race.

Turnkey is, or used to be British synonym for "gaoler"

That's just old english for "Jailer".. and "turnkey" was slang for a person who watched over prisoners... but use of the old english "gaoler" was not contemporaneous with the slang "turnkey", I don't think. Turnkey was an insult, as it implied all the jailer knew how to do is turn a key... anyone that could turn a key could do the job.

He will run if he is not in jail by then. He will play coy to keep grifting, but if he bails and disappoints his culties, they will turn on him like a pack of rabid dogs. The GOP's job now is to tear down Biden. Thwart him, frustrate him, deny Biden accomplishments and fan the hate.

NO HOLDS BARRED
...
No holds barred? So the fight is not conducted under the Marquess of Queensberry rules?
This sounds far-fetched, but the whole post-rational dystopia of Trumpland seems far-fetched. Is Trump hosting some unregulated fight to the death?

He's definitely continuing to pretend to still be president because that's what the MAGAtards want. And the MAGAtards keep lining his pockets so he keeps feeding them woo in exchange for cash.

I'm hoping that something meaningful breaks and that isn't under the control of GOP types. Maybe the investigation of how he manages so much cash with his golf courses overseas will lead to something he can't escape. Who knows.

One thing is certain, namely that he will continue to grift. Whatever course gets him more money is the one he'll take.

Holyfield is 58. It will probably be a fight till he has to nap.
