Could not help but notice it again - bunch of hysterical women and and a school girl threatening with laws and such. And then a man who destroyed a "logic" of a woman just before him. Women are fucking stupid, statistically speaking that is (Women on board were all wearing masks)

We must be seeing different videos, because I see just as many or more men being mental, like this whackjob filming his heroic protest against someone for simply wearing a mask. He proudly gifted the video to the internet himself.

Washington State football coach Nick Rolovich and four assistant coaches were fired Monday for refusing to comply with a mandate that required all state employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. It marked the end of a monthslong process during which Rolovich did not explain why he was unwilling to get the vaccine and ultimately sacrificed a $3 million annual salary, which had made him the highest-paid state employee.

While Rolovich's contract ran through 2025, athletic director Pat Chun confirmed Rolovich's departure will be characterized as a for-cause separation due to his inability to meet the requirements outlined in his contract. As such, he will not be paid for the remainder of his contract.

They already fulfill lots of regulations for the government without question, so why not this one? Good riddance to their tasteless fries, interminable drive thrus, and their obnoxious packaging with preachy bible verses.

It's weird where I live. If I go to Publix, which is located in a fairly middle to upper middle class area, almost everyone, other than a small number of young people, are wearing masks. If I go to Ingles, located close to where the city merges with the exurban area, most people aren't wearing masks. If I go to Krogers located in town, but always very busy, it's about half and half. The vast majority of Black folks do wear masks in most of these places. It seems to be political and sadly, based on what little I know, the vaccinated are being very careful and the unvaccinated are being careless. If you refuse the vaccine, at least have the decency to wear a mask and keep a distance from others when you are out and about.

I've never had anyone give me the "stink eye" when I"m wearing my mask, but I live in what I consider to be an extremely friendly, tolerant town, where most people are respectful of each other regardless of political views, race or ethnicity.

I enjoy an In and Out burger now and again. The fries are really quite good too. The one near me is always really busy. It's the only place I ever buy takeout hamburger.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, the pandemic has become yet another stage for the culture war. But it may be one that the right will end up regretting. The emergency unleashed a flood of disparate conspiracy theories about the virus and vaccines that spread rapidly on social media, while “anti-mask” and “anti-lockdown” protest movements framed contagion prevention measures as a “health dictatorship”.

Populist right leaders were quick to take advantage of this, seeing in Covid scepticism yet another opportunity to show the gulf between the priorities of progressives and ordinary people. ...

However, the animosity of the culture war now seems to be playing out in a sort of civil war in the right’s own ranks, and may lead to serious difficulties for the likes of Salvini, Le Pen, Trump and Farage.

Regretting the conspiracists? Or regretting the lack of control?
Because i will bet money there are no Populist think tanks wondering how to step back from the conspiracies.
How to reassert dominance, though, that's probably a high priority.

What it's like taking care of COVID-19 patients:

Another heartbreaking day in the ER.
A healthy 40-something dx w/ COVID a week ago.
So was their spouse.
Both unvaccinated.
My patient came in today with an oxygen sat of 64%.
Their spouse has a mild cough.
We can predict who will more likely than others get very sick from COVID19.
The elderly.
The immunocompromised.
Those with underlying lung disease.
Others.
It's not a guarantee, but those folks are more "at risk."
Those are the people we were told to protect last year.
Those are the people who have mostly been vaccinated.
Those people are able to be easily identified.
But how do I know who among all of the other people I see every shift will end up on a ventilator?
I don't.

My experience in the ICU last month reminded me of the reality that some of the "low risk" people do end up on ventilators for months. They end up with tracheostomies and feeding tubes and need to learn to walk again.

My patient today reminded me that 2 people in the same house with the same likely exposure and the same basic risks can have 2 very different courses of their illness.

One with a mild cough, and one breathing 44 times/minute and only oxygenating at 64%

I don't yet know the path my patient will take in (hopefully) their recovery. By the time I left the ER, they were on a high flow nasal cannula at 80 L/min and 85%. (That's alot!) They're getting everything available to manage their infection. I fear that they will end up on a ventilator before morning. The ventilator doesn't damage the patient so much as the virus damages the patient and the vent is our last ditch effort to pull them through. And while death is a horrible outcome from this disease, long term survival for months on a ventilator and learning how to eat and walk again is pure misery for patients and their loved ones.

So if your'e wondering:
Why am I so passionate about getting people vaccinated?
Why do I support vaccine mandates?
Why do I support masks in schools?
Why do I try to follow the science?
It's my patient today.
They do not get a second chance at getting vaccinated.
They cannot prevent their current fate.
Their family must wait and hope and pray.
And it's my next patient who with a safe and effective vaccine can avoid all of this misery.

I was in Home Depot (suburban) earlier today. Properly worn masks were maybe 50% and a few didn't wear them at all.

Is it still just one reference on the inner ring of the bottom of their cups? Did you spill your soda again? I’m kidding.
I know, “And even if there were only one biblical reference in the burger joint, that would still be one biblical reference too many.”

*For the unfamiliar, In-N-Out is a lot like Five Guys except one guy is Jesus. And the employees bear a striking resemblance to Chick-fil-A employees: happy, mostly white, and freshly laundered. Which, I have to admit, is a nice change to the sloppy looking kids I’m used to seeing at fast food joints.
Christiany or not, I have no problem being served food by teenagers who look like they bath on a regular basis.
