• Welcome to the new Internet Infidels Discussion Board, formerly Talk Freethought.

How do politicians make sure they accomplish what they set out to when they are in politics?

You can't talk you've never even attempted to do anything in politics before in your life.
You understand how stupid an argument that is, right? "You can't criticize my political aspirations because you've never been a politician", makes about as much sense as "You can't talk about the border because you've never been an immigrant".
No it's not you can't talk because you yourself haven't proven or done anything. You don't know anything about running because you haven't done anything yourself. Your just saying things.
You can't talk about same sex marriage because you've never been gay or married.
You can't talk about gender affirming care because you've never been trans

See how idiotic your argument is, George?

I was president of a student club for a while when I was in college. Does that mean I outrank you in terms of political campaign expereience, NightHawkBuzz?

I've got an old Kevin '07 T-Shirt in my wardrobe somewhere so I guess we both do.

No it's not you can't talk because you yourself haven't proven or done anything. You don't know anything about running because you haven't done anything yourself. You're just saying things.

We've spoken about this before NightHawkBuzz. Now write it out properly five times and if this happens again I'm going to arrange a meeting with your parents.

Your just making stuff up. You don't know if I have charisma or skill in person. You don't know how I am in person. You've never met me or had an actual conversation with me in person so you don't know if I have charisma or skill at all your just making things up.
You have convinced me.

Vicky Pollard for President!!

I've got an old Kevin '07 T-Shirt in my wardrobe somewhere so I guess we both do.
Mine is still doing sterling service as a gardening shirt. I rather doubt that my neighbours are actually going to act on the recommendation to Vote [1] Kevin Rudd for Morningside, both because I don't live anywhere near Morningside anymore, and because he is now our Ambassador to the United States.

But I reckon I also outrank NightHawkBuzz in terms of political experience; I was FDE chair for the Division of Moreton back in the '90s, but I dropped out of politics when I moved to Sydney, because the NSW Labor party.

*I was going to add " ... is", and a description of my reasons for not wanting anything to do with them, but I don't want to say anything that might be construed as defamatory, despite truth being a complete defence.
As Shane Maloney might say, "The author of this book, its setting and its characters are entirely fictitious. There is no such place as Melbourne. The Australian Labor Party exists only in the imagination of its members". This is true also of Sydney.

That's weird. I just finished re-reading The Big Ask and Something Fishy two weeks ago.

But on topic, it appears quite a few people here have more campaign experience than Nighthawkbuzz, so maybe it's not us who doesn't know what they are talking about...

Again, your "campaign" is gonna be DOA because - to put it kindly - you're a combative, easily-triggered snowflake who can't take a (verbal) punch.
This. You don't stand a chance in politics because of this.
I won't act like that in person
Tell us you want to be the next George Santos without telling us you want to be the next George Santos. Also, the smart money says you'll have zero chance of keeping up the facade for long, considering your "fuck you, I'll fight you" tendencies.
You can't talk you've never even attempted to do anything in politics before in your life.
Almost none of us have (maybe all). So why are you asking us?

Regardless, it'd be better to be woo'ing some Daddy Warbucks out there instead of trying persuade us that you know what you are doing.

There's also this to consider.
There are definitely places where Buzz's attitude and opinions would likely win. But I suspect that those places already have a bunch of other people with them. Quite likely people with better credentials.
I dunno.
Tom
Or more to the point, with better skills. I'm reminded of my former Congressional Representative. A glad-handing blowhard who never seemed to turn off his public persona. But he had confidence, a kind of charisma, and political skills, and went on to host a talk radio show after leaving Congress.
So far, 'ole Buzz ain't exactly exuding charisma or skill.
Your just making stuff up. You don't know if I have charisma or skill in person. You don't know how I am in person. You've never met me or had an actual conversation with me in person so you don't know if I have charisma or skill at all your just making things up.

Like I said your the last person that should be talking about about charisma or skill you have never ran or won anything in politics before in your life.

You've never had a political campaign before in your life.

Neither have you. Unlike you, I haven't wished to have a political campaign, and at this point yours is just that...a wish.

And while I don't know you in person (and would never want to), the thing about the internet is it's like alcohol. Give someone a little bit of it and they start showing you who they really are. Based upon your postings here, you are a thoroughly unpleasant person and (again) easily goaded into losing control.

Control is everything when it comes to a politician's image. An example from my experience (which you continue to ignore and/or dismiss) is the late Senator John McCain. He had quite the temper, but you never would know it if you only saw him in public, because he was very deliberate about his image. In fact, his calm demeanor and ability to speak concisely was the reason he was asked back to the news programs so often. I edited many interviews with public figures in the wake of 9/11, looking for quick "sound bites" that could fit into a newscast.

I never had to edit Senator McCain. He spoke in 30 or 40 second self-contained sound bites, and this was on purpose. He practiced that skill, and was constantly practicing. You wouldn't know that if you didn't have the inside information that I did from working with people on his staff.

As far as charisma or skill, what's the biggest crowd you've ever spoken in front of, kid? Public speaking is (like speaking in sound bites) a skill. You don't just get up on stage and go. I know quite a lot about it, because I've done it more times than I can count. I was a public figure. A radio host who emceed events and had to appear in public on a regular basis. I haven't been on the air in over a decade, but I still have people who recognize me from my radio days. I had plenty of fans and even signed autographs. The largest crowd I've been in front of? Fourteen thousand people. That's bigger by several orders of magnitude than recent Trump rallies. Let me tell you, if you don't have skills AND charisma, you will not do well. I actually enjoyed it, and the bigger the crowd, the better I was. What's your public speaking experience...reading a book report in front of class at school?

So run along, son. Come back when you've got half the experience I do.

I think Night Hawk should try and get in touch with Marjorie Taylor Greene, as she has obtained her Congressional seat, mush to the embarrassment of the decent state residents in Georgia, by believing insane conspiracies and supporting cruel, hateful ideas. Maybe she could give Buzz some advice as how to manipulate idiots enough to get them to vote for you.

Your just making stuff up. You don't know if I have charisma or skill in person. You don't know how I am in person. You've never met me or had an actual conversation with me in person so you don't know if I have charisma or skill at all your just making things up.

Do you REALLY think that they way you respond impulsively here will not show up when you respond impulsively in person? You don’t think you’ll ever get rattled and revert to the same person you are when no one’s looking?

Personalities come out. Even more so in the age of the infinite memory of the interwebs.

Like I said your the last person that should be talking about about charisma or skill you have never ran or won anything in politics before in your life.

You've never had a political campaign before in your life.

You keep saying that - as if YOU HAVE?
You argument doesn’t make any sense. And you keep making that flawed argument over and over and over again. Are you going to make this flawed argument in person on your campaign? Because you don’t seem to have another one.

And I’ll reiterate, according to your argument, I am apparently the most qualified person on the whole board to address your campaign plan, your charisma and your skill. (I don’t think this is true, personally, as there are many people who have spent a great deal of time and study analyzing campaigns, but - stipulating your flawed premise as a metric…)

So, given my lofty credentials, The things you need to learn are necessary to have an effective campaign, and you have shown a steadfast inability to learn them. You’ve shown a universal disinterest in the actual advice and a near-perseverating level of interest in petty squabbles, flaming, and back-talk. You are so easily distracted from your stated main goal that you have only ever mustered a “I’ll do that” response to the good advice while you spend pages and pages on the distraction. You can’t keep your eye on the ball.

So from my perspective what I see is someone who is not qualified to run a successful campaign, and someone, moreover, wo is not qualified to become qualified.

With none of my real information on this site and my real name isn't on here I doubt anyone can trace this back to me.
Oh, bless your heart, sugarbun.

You don’t think text analysis is capable of matching a new politician’s words, meter, spelling errors, vocabulary choice and timing to the text he has spouted at length on a message board? You don’t think a hacker can extract your IP address? Especially as, if I recall correctly, you have posted this exact same set of questions on multiple message boards?

The more famous you try to become, the more invested skilled people are in finding your backstory. There is a whole genre of tiktoks of people who take mean, anonymous, tiktoks and find the author in less than a day.

I would like to know how politicians make sure they set out to accomplish what they want when they are in politics. Like some of my top goals are below how can a politician make sure they accomplish these?

These are some of my top goals are below. How can a politician make sure they have the best chance of accomplishing these goals.

1. Passing a law that men and women are the only genders recognized by the U.S government
2. A nationwide "don't say gay bill"
3. Overturning same sex marriage
4. Banning gender affirming care
5. Stopping illegal immigration
6. Overturning the law that made same sex relationships legal
7. Banning transgender athletes from playing sports.
8. Mass deportation of migrants.
How do any of these things promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of Liberty?

If you want my vote, you'll have to explain how anything on this list will put one more dollar in my pocket, or make my life better, in the slightest degree. I doubt you can do that.

People gave you great advice in multiple threads. Why don’t you summarize that great advice and organize it into a self-improvement plan with goals and tasks. Then post your proposal here and see how well you’ve understood to assignment?

Really, I've asked similar questions. What is this but a laundry list of right wing talking points? I, too, consider it extremely unfair for a trans-woman to bring her male physique to a sports competition with cis-women.
Other than that I don't see anything particularly worthwhile on the list.
We could discuss that, but there's already threads on all of them.

So, Buzzy, give me some advice, based on your experience.
I just had some home repairs done by a tradesperson I happened to spot hitchhiking outside of Brownsville. Real fine work. A few particulars:
Name: Carmen Miguel Garza
Dream career: aspires to play for both the Houston Rockets & Houston Comets
Occupational training: cosmetology & pipe welding
Currently reading: The God Delusion and Stone Butch Blues
That should give you a little idea. My question: what's a nice gift I could throw in with Carmen Miguel's paycheck?

By the time everything is said and done in both our political careers I guarantee I will have done more in politics than you ever will in your entire life.

There is a difference between thinking something in one's mind and letting it escape out one's mouth. I might be wrong, but politicians who understand and practice that difference tend to be more successful.

I'm 6'4", white, over 200#, and not known for my tact.
Yeah, I might very well say it to your face.

You know that thing where I said you were easily triggered? Yeah, this is that.

You're 6'3"? Again, are you going to meet me on recess, or lunch? Gods, you're like a kid in middle school with your "you wanna fight?" shit. Grow up.

And again, I don't have a political career nor do I want one. You're trumpeting a political career you don't even have yet. So far, by your own words, you have talked to the head of the local Republican Party in whatever backwater city you live in. That's it. That is the extent of your career.

So again, run along son.

I'm also 6'3", but Bruce Lee could destroy me in a fight and Chomsky would wipe the floor with me in a debate. So I don't know what my height has to do with this particular topic.

And I wouldn't want to ever know you in real life either. Plus In real life I'm 6'3 and all this stuff your typing so easily behind a screen I guarantee you would never say any of it to my face.

There he goes again with the implicit threats, the attempted bully-boy tactics. All bullies are cowards, Buzz.

Many years ago when I was still waiting for my radio career to take off, I was a DJ in a club. The manager was 6'6" and his nickname was "Congo." His criteria for hiring a bouncer was simple: If he thought you could kick his ass, you were in. So we had some HUGE guys at the door. And Sung.

Sung was maybe 5'8" and 140lbs soaking wet. It was hilarious to watch him standing there next to a linebacker-sized doorman when someone tried to start some shit. Of course they wouldn't go after the big guy...they'd go after Sung. Because what they didn't know was that Sung won a national Tae Kwon Do championship in South Korea.
