Fact Check: Ken Paxton Did NOT Release Statement Saying He 'Cannot Accept' His Defeat to James Talarico Was 'Free or Fair'

Did Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton release a statement saying he "cannot accept" that his defeat to James Talarico in the November 2026 U.S. Senate race was "free or fair"? No, that's not true: Pax...

www.yahoo.com

Thank goodness. The suspicious part is it coming out now, not yesterday, but otherwise, this is Paxton, so yeah, he could have said that. Glad he didn't.

[Tigers!]

With all the new Democratic pollies can they over-rule a presidential veto?

Overriding a POTUS veto requires a 2/3 majority in the House of Representatives and a 2/3 majority in the Senate.

Barron's at school, dipshit.

Well, it seems he does still dictate some of his own shitposts

It's not a real post.

President Trump's current priorities in the wake of this catastrophic loss seem to be primarily real estate-related. Yesterday, he toured the ballroom site and signed one of the steel beams with his signature Sharpie. Today, he signed an executive order declaring the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room as a National Monument in an attempt to prevent President Buttigieg or whoever from redecorating it after he's retired.

As he is aware, executive orders are not laws and can be simply undone by the next president. So it prevents nothing.

It's possible but unlikely, especially in this era of characteristic non-cooperation between the parties. Around 4% of presidential vetoes have been overridden historically, and certain controversial figures (like Andrew Johnson, whose vetoes were overruled 15 times) drove that average up more than others.

We'll know more when all seats have been assigned, but it is not expected that the Democrats will have 2/3 majority in either chamber, so Republican support would be needed. There is only one national issue on which I could imagine such a vote succeeding: Iran.

Correct. He is likely betting that there won't be much political will to remove the designation, which is true, but the executive order need not be fully reversed in order to contravene the clause about not changing the decorating.

It is, as always, executive overreach over the pettiest of issues. Expect many such EOs over the next two years. His final month will be a memo tantrum of the highest order, if his hands can still lift a marker by then.

You love talking about a subject you know almost nothing about.

Peltola is expected to prevail.

In Alaska, Ranked-Choice Ballots Are Unlikely to Be Enough for Dan Sullivan

An analysis shows Mary Peltola is likely to keep her lead in the Senate race in part because of ballots she’d accumulate in ranked-choice tabulation from supporters of the other Dan Sullivan.

Its perfect form for a real post, maybe circa 2018.

I've seen a number of clear not-trump posts made through his accounts, so it almost looked like a proof of momentary mental faculty might have returned.

Poe's law and all that.

Just noticed that Lindsey Graham lost. Good riddance.

Lindsey Graham was not on the ballot, having died in July.

Still, we can at least concur on the "good riddance" thing.

He's been out there the entire time speaking to crowds. He may be one of the unsung heroes of this blue wave.

Just read this morning LA has a Democratic Socialist for a mayor now. OMG, OMG, OMG.
