2028 Presidential Election

Remember, yet again, as Trump slides into dementia his image becomes the mouth piece of other people.

Oh fucking great. The mouthpiece of any random “other person” is bound to sound more coherent than Trump actually is.
Not by the time it gets through Trump's brain scrambler in the form of a rambling speech that only vaguely references what he was told to say.

Its less an issue when the communication is digital. You just have to run it through a 2b binary quantized AI trained on Trump tweets.

The guy could be straight up dead and you could keep up the charade if not for those pesky "proof of life" demands people are already making.

Really, it was a joke! That whole “Weekend at Bernie’s” thing? I didn’t mean it!

The problem is that there is a nonzero chance possibly a double-digits percentage chance, that someone WILL weekend-at-bernies the man, given they are already doing it while he's still kind of alive.

In the 1961 film, El Cid, the fearless immortal leader dies, but they prop him up on his horse to fool the enemy:

Well, anything other than Vance is probably what they are thinking.

I wrote before ( somewhere) that I thought the behind the scenes plans for the founders of Trump was to keep him in office until he’s served (‘served’) two years and then 86 him, putting Vance in the Oval for 10 years.

I don’t think Vance’s performance has been up to snuff so I’m not sure their next step. Might be to secretly support the worst Dem, then undermine them badly to try for perma-rule by the GOP.

We’re stuck with Trump for another 9 months at least, even if he is actually a corpse.

Ha! I was thinking of the same thing, but figured an El Cid reference might be too obscure to mention. You are my kind of geek, WAB.

I have no doubt they'd try to hide the fact that the Shitgibbon for as long as possible. Ironically, it would be reminiscent of historically authoritarian governments.

Anyway, assuming Trump actually leaves office, it's difficult to see anyone filling his little shoes. His vomit-inducing charisma can't be duplicated. IOW, you can't fake that shit. His supporters are ride and die. There is no contradiction, no hypocrisy, no lie, and no ethical or moral absurdity they won't tolerate. Hell, they revel in it.

My hope is that Trumpites will simply stop showing up at the polls due to the lack of interest they had in the system before he came along. Potentially that would mean the loss of tens of millions of voters. Please keep in mind that I'm not making a prediction, just expressing hope.

“That’s why I like him, he’s always being totally real.”
-Trumpsuckers’ rationale handbook
Among countless other things I've found baffling about his supporters is that they think he's actually funny. We laugh at him because he's a joke so bad that you can't help but roll your eyes and give a grim chuckle. They think he's a legendary standup comedian on the level of a George Carlin. They're like the people who didn't get the thematic joke about Archie Bunker being the bad guy.

I think that is exactly what is going on. They believe in Trump and what he says, and what the GOP has been pushing without saying out loud for decades. They found the man who they were looking for in 2012.

They didn't get the Bunker was the comic relief because they thought what he said was true. They didn't hear the laughing, they heard reaffirming.

...absurdity...
one thing to note is that absurdity does NOT mean nonsense and should not be used that way.

The "absurd" is merely about the idea of something that exists, but which exists "without explanation or any need for it".

This should properly be contrasted with nonsense and contradiction, things which can only be presented as "absurd images" as true contradiction cannot logically exist in any regard.

I think the physics and the state of the fields that form us end up being their own "absurdity", and that our existence at all is, in fact, absurd. And I think Morality, in fact, is just as absurd, and just as real.

As a result, calling their morality "absurd" to me is a deep insult to any absurdist with an interest in morality.

:LOL:I'm going to have to bookmark that clip. My fear, though, is that I would use it too much, rather than exercise my brain to try to untangle the clusterfuck itself.

It seems that some people simply cannot understand the concept of "that which exists as a brute truth without need to explain why or how" is one with both utility and need for its own word.

It reminds me of a couple idiots sitting on their couch, doing nothing but occasionally acting as public menaces, chuckling and thinking someone else is the idiot.
