Another Fucking Mass Shooting At US School

“Audrey Hale is a biological woman who, on a social media profile, used male pronouns,” per a police spokesman.

Hale left a manifesto, but no details of the content yet. So far nobody is reporting any kind of red flags. This may be a real outlier.

On an unrelated note, is there any particular reason the trans flag uses the standard CGA palette?

The meaning of the Helms trans pride flag is, of course, common and easily learned knowledge. If you were actually curious, rather than looking for an excuse to repeat a dumb joke you got from somewhere, to post in the hilarious thread on that funny school shooting you seem to find so amusing.

Will the full unedited manifesto be released?

If it is unhinged rant (~ "you kill our kids, we will kill yours!") that will draw a vengeful target to trans people, should it be?

A Republican is calling for it to be released

"Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett called for the manifesto by the transgender shooter at the private Presbyterian school in Nashville to be made public.

"Our trans youth are troubled," Burchett told Fox News Digital in a late Monday statement. "If they don't get the help they need they can grow up to have some serious issues, but I obviously don't believe they'll all grow up to be shooters like this."

"We need to know what was going through this person's head, and the manifesto should be made public"

Given that a call about an active shooter came at 10:13 a.m. there was not enough time (16 minutes) for this bright red alarm bell to be acted on. But these types of texts in this time need you to call 911 on your friend with seriousness, even if it can get them committed, etc...

But these types of texts in this time need you to call 911 on your friend with seriousness,

She did call police, but they didn't treat it as an emergency.

It can’t just be about wanting to die because she could have just shot herself and been done with it.

It doesn't have to make sense. Certainly there can be more, but there doesn't have to be. Suicidal people aren't typically known for being rational.

What is odd is she doesn't go to justify what she is going to do. Makes with a pity statement and then bravado. Kind of a 'I'm going to show the world' thing.

It can’t just be about wanting to die because she could have just shot herself and been done with it.

What can't be? The messages said she was planning to die and was going to be in the news which is an alarming thing to say. But we don't know exactly what the person told the police. And even if they reacted right away, they very likely couldn't have stopped it.

Her claim "I'm not trying to... get attention" is clearly false. It's all about getting attention, the suicide and murders both.

The suicide is a violent "I'm going to show them!" directed at oneself and the murders are a delivery of the message that no one can ignore.

Whoever first thought of shooting small children to get notorious started an avalanche. What surer way to accomplish getting notorious in death, to compensate for feeling neglected and despised in life?

One or two texts I can get, but that stream of thought sounds too thought out to ignore... and certainly worth a quick check. Might have been too late to check, but those texts are a red flag when packed together.

Looking a bit deeper, the psychology is interesting because she already exhibits signs that she knows what she is going to do is wrong. So even in an irrational state, she knew right from wrong enough. So much as to not inform her friend what she was going to do or why. She knew she didn't have the justification even from a delayed crime of passion perspective. The question becomes, was this a final plea for help? Not a plea to stop her suicide, but to stop her massacre. As to that, I have no idea.

She didn't need to say anything about her plot. It is hard to determine whether she was trying to convince herself it was justified or whether she was laying out there to be stopped. Ultimately, it doesn't appear that she killed herself. Which then makes one ponder, whether this was her suicide attempt. Honestly, one can get lost in the minutia.

If you claim you just want to die and you own guns then you can just shoot yourself. The fact that a person purposefully goes to a location to shoot other people and hoping the police shoot you dead means that there was more in this person’s head than simply the desire to die. She was reasonable enough to know that what she was going to do would make the news and tell a friend about it so I don’t accept that she was irrational.

There's video of police shooting the shooter. These guys did not hesitate to go in there and face the threat. Took 14 minutes from the time of the 911 call.

If reports are accurate about her known mental health issues and parents wanting her to have no guns...

Red Flag laws have BIG potential for misuse, but this would have been the right use case.

Actually she texted a friend about her intentions. The friend reported the issue to the police, They didn;t take it seriously.
