Another Fucking Mass Shooting At US School

Why would you think that anyone is denying that?
“Think”? That’s not what’s happening here. You don’t have to think at all, let alone think that, in order to vent an irrational fear of what you don’t understand. It’s purely visceral. And almost as purely STOOPID.

What makes you think trans people should be exempt from a soaking by the RW fire hose of vitriol?
The same thing that makes.me think all those other folks should have been exempted, too, except for the fact that they do still fear us, and feared every other group too.

They fear change, difference, challenge. They fear the bullied one punching them.

They will absolutely try to disarm people of sexual minorities in red states under "mental health" false concerns. That's the next step. I'd say maybe a month or two? Or maybe just a week.

Biden was in the Senate then and the Senate voted for it so it’s not inappropriate to associate Biden with that legislation.

She's still wrong because they bill was passed after that incident, and the law allowed for authorized people to still have guns on school property.

Attributing the law to Biden is still misleading, as if it were especially up to him when it passed nearly unanimously.

Fair enough but the dig on her that implies she thinks Joe Biden was President 33 years ago is unnecessary for pointing out her failings.

You make a mistake ceding power - even hypothetical power - to them. They have little, and diminishing ability to do any of those things except by inciting individual credulous nutbars to do their dirty work.
I expect even that to become more and more difficult.

There is no power to cede. I live in Minnesota, a state that has recently passed laws enshrining my rights, and the rights of every Minnesotan, and the rights of everyone who comes to Minnesota the right to make decisions about their own puberty.

These assholes though, live in places where I do not, and do have all the power to take guns from enemies, empower militias, and bring the third world home.

Lindsey Graham said we need more police in schools . That would be like 750,000 more cops than we have now. Where are they to come from and who will pay them?
Our school safety officer, a city cop, turned out to be a kiddie diddler sometime after I left junior high.

Great. So not only do we have to find them and pay them, these cops will have to be of high moral character, too? Sheesh… there’s no end to your people’s demands.

I’m not saying that there’s any chance of turning the deep recesses of rural South Carolina into bastions of equality. But things are changing. Glacially perhaps, but in the right direction.

On average. My point is that we need to be careful because history has both a flow and an ebb as these things go. It took since WW2 and the fall of German sex studies to get back here.

Insurrection?

Gun control activists were seen storming Tennessee's State Capitol Thursday amid rising fears of a left-wing uprising at a rumored protest in Washington, DC. Footage of the ongoing insurrection, posted to social media just before 2pm, shows progressive protesters attempting to enter the Nashville legislation building, and being batted away by several members of the city's sheriff's department. Such dramatics were not exclusive to Nashville, however - as feelings of unrest continue to boil over after a recent mass shooting at a city school involving a transgender gunman who once attended the institution.

What she said is the government passed a law and guns still got into her school... therefore we shouldn't outlaw murder. Look at Texas, lots of murders, even with laws against it. Laws don't work, let's get rid of them.

It gets hard to tell what is happening after several minutes, in light of all the tear gas. Yeah, the gun shots, people screaming and trying to flee was completely heart breaking in the first few minutes, but the smoke just makes it hard to tell what else happened. I mean you can hear the moaning and wailing of the injured and cries for help for their fallen comrades who were bleeding out. That sounds so awful. But the question we really need to ask ourselves is whether we should consider this "storming" or merely "exercising their right to political expression"?

The rightwing propaganda mills are spinning this furiously to try to draw a parallel, but I can find no stories of broken windows or doors. No police have been injured. No guns or other lethal weapons to threaten anyone. No zip ties. No offices broken into. No feces smeared on walls. Just a lot of shouting and demonstrations.

So, no, not the same thing.

The goal is to proclaim trans people dangerous, and take their guns so they can't defend themselves and their homes if the government comes to erase us.

It's a DARVO, an attempt to disarm their outgroups before moving against them.

They fear the fist of the person that stands up to the bullying.

They are in the act of antagonizing the trans community until there is no reasonable course but to fight, and then using that as an excuse to crush the community entirely.

When they use the term 'trans mob' it is about time to start preparing as a trans person for the actual lynch mob to come through the door.
You stand up in the courtroom, you don't initiate violence even if they are out of line.

Most mass shootings are overwhelimingly commited by men. More mass shootings have been commited by incels than trans persons. About half of male mass shooters have had legal problems with violent abuse of significant others. Many have a history of mental illness. Yet the NRA and like minded progun groups oppose red flag laws.
They're right to oppose red flag laws--the problem is the laws are basically guilty until proven innocent, generally with no way to prove your innocence. Make a red flag law that's fair to the falsely accused and you'll get a lot more support. The concept is good, the implementation is not.

If you believe that there is no such thing as transphobism, then you confirm my opinion of what your politics are.
I believe there is such a thing as bigotry but made up words like "transphobia" are dog whistles for radicals to get behind.
Language evolves, it's not static.

"Transphobia" is a perfectly clear compound word, any reasonably educated native speaker should understand it even if they never saw it before. And what we are seeing is clearly a phobia--there is no rational basis for the fear.
