Are people already regretting their choice?

We’ve been told for decades that Washington is filled with lazy, corrupt lawmakers and civil servants. It’s always easier to believe that ‘they’ aren’t as honest and hard working as you are when you don’t know any of ‘them’ and do not understand exactly what it is they do or why it is important. Just like it is easy to believe that ‘they’ ( we’ll say poor people) are lazy, shiftless no good layabouts who just want to suck on the governed t test that decent hardworking Americans like us have to support. And it’s not fair.

Of course some members of ( whoever) are lazy and not inclined to try to better themselves through hard work. But is fucking hard to be poor—and expensive, too! Not to mention, unhealthy, scary, demoralizing and dangerous.

But it’s easier to blame the ( whatever out group you can think of) instead of actually looking at who the structure of society is serving. Increasingly, it is the very wealthy. Of course it is much more risky to challenge the rich and powerful than it is to beat up on whichever member of of whatever outgroup draws your ire because they have a big fat target drawn on their backs and a whole lot of light shining on that target. Hardest of all is looking in the mirror.

Sending yawns and shrugs to Dearborn.

Thank goodness they didn't sway the whole thing and were responsible for the Senate being out of reach now.

I probably should add, any more so than all the white people. I've just given up on white people making good choices. American history is rife white people making lots of bad decisions.

You could remove the word "white" and that paragraph would remain utterly true.

It's probably like below 1% of Trump voters who are regretting their choice.

Just dispense with all the adjectives except "American"...

(Although truth be told that one's superfluous too. But relevant to the thread...)

More damning of an entire city for the actions of a minority of its population. With such a racist, useless, piece-of-shit "left".. Jesus, who even needs a right wing when the left wing does so much flapping for them for free?

A majority of Michigan voters did not vote for Harris.

Only 36% of Dearborn voters voted for Harris in 2024.

People only care when it impacts them directly. War without draft (Iraq) is one thing, war with draft (well gosh, haven't had one of those in a while) entirely another. People felt inflation. Right now, people don't feel what Musk is doing in DC. So it is just 'politics' to them. If the IRS gets fucked up and income tax refunds become held up, then they start caring. As an aside, I got my taxes in pronto and already got my refund. I didn't waste a moment just in case Musk was planning on making the IRS impotent.

Nor Trump. And we held the senate seat. Fuck! Nothing makes sense anymore.

I’m keeping meticulous records this year (for 24 taxes). I will owe, but I don’t want any more shit from State or the Fed.

I do not accept as a principle that civil rights should be dependent on voting for any particular candidate.

Again, what use is a "left" that does half the legwork in crafting a fascist society?

Did someone evince the view that “civil rights should be dependent on voting for any particular candidate”?
I know that it is a tenet of the administration, but I hardly see that belief at work on the left.

First off, where the heck do you get the idea that I think civil rights should be forfeited for any reason? Pls explain your assertion that the “left” is helping craft a fascist society?
