Biden Pardons Hunter

Emoluments violations, stolen documents, obstruction of the Justice Department and FBI, trying to buy off a foreign political promise using US Government spending. tried to steal an election, how many billions ot Kuschner?, selling Visas to the Chinese?
You forgot rape and human trafficking of minors. But you see, the difference between you and me is that I am not arguing for any felonies to be overlooked. Whereas you are in effect asking for any felony to be overlooked as long as the felon is related to a celebrity. Since the "other side" feels exactly the same way as you, and the balance of power shifts frequently, it ensures that this kind of corruption will continue apace, and that crimes of the wealthy will forever overlooked (by everyone except for Luigi Mangione).

Ideological purity is for saints. The clutching of pearls by Democrats and "the left" is an example of such purity. This is a nothing burger in the world of real people who are not perfect.

You'll have a hard time finding me say that. In fact, you needed to slice out the portion of my post which made things explicitly clear on the pardon and the conditions. You needed to do that in order to construct a strawman to argument against, and quite needlessly so. When is the last time the House weaponized it's investigation powers into the family member of a President? There was a reasonable threat of Trump

You keep discussing about this as if there isn't a big ass asterisk hanging over the pardon.

He's going to commit a rich kid crime. Like Biden did
Lying on a form, possessing a weapon while addicted … something else …
RICH KID CRIMES??
🤣
Were you a rich kid? Did your peers behave like that?
Do you think Hunter was going to shoot someone?
And WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT BARRON FOR?
This is about a parent protecting their kid from a dude who is about to hold literal power of life death over him, and who has expressed eagerness to use it.
You have raised false equivalence to an art form.

Pearl clutchers seem to take it for granted that the Grifter in Chief can and will pardon Joe Arpaio, Mike Flynn, Paul Manafort, Charles Kuschner, Steve Bannon etc etc … and it’s not as bad as Hunter filling out a form wrong because hey- that’s just Rrump being Rump.
But pardoning Hunter might make him feel like he has license to … WHAT???

Think about it, Poli.

No, buddy. I think all these fuckers should go to jail.
And all for the same term? Equivocating again?
All things considered, an overnight for Hunter would be excessive. A life sentence for the apricot would be inexcusably lenient. IMHO
What’s the just sentence, your honor?

You would put Hunter in jail for lying about drugs on a federal form? If so, do you think all who commit this offense should go to jail?
That WOULD be the implication, wouldn’t it?
The pain and suffering already levied against Hunter and his dad, is just collateral damage. What happens when you beat the Cheat.

Trump already thinks he has license to do whatever he wants without punishment. So does Biden. And they're right, because our "justice system" treats elite crimes as trivialities even if they are literally felonies. A system that you are making an impassioned defense of, even though it benefits you not at all be such a chump. You think that Biden is your friend and compatriot just because he's related to a Democrat president instead of a Republican president, but he's really just a pampered little asswipe like the rest of them. Probably went to school together with your whole list of evil cronies. Signed each others' yearbooks with a heart (and a very expensive pen). They don't and will never give a shit about you in return for your loyalty to their interests, and they never will. So why put yourself out for them?

That which is prescribed for by the law. Dumb question.

If you think laws against felony drug possession are stupid, there's a correct political process to go through to have that changed. But good luck with that, because no politician would ever put their name to such a bill. You know why? Because they know that Orwellian drug laws will only, ever, be enforced against the poor. As long as we all agree that they need have no skin in the game, there's no incentive for them to ever consider the social implications of a law except for - and I laugh at the very idea - except for ethics.

Unless you offended Trump, obviously.

Who are you referring to? I have made no impassioned defense of jailing people for form errors - that’s YOUR indulgence.

So hang ‘em! Uh WHOSE friend is Hunter?

You sound embarrassingly jealous.
I have put NOTHING “out” for them.
I have extended the thought that for all Daddy’s riches, or the 1000x Daddy’s riches that Hunter’s antagonist holds, they’re all still humans.
Have you ever played a contact sport against a rich kid? I have. I can tell you they bleed red. I can also attest that they cry if you punch them in the nose.

all still humans.
I'm not the one confused on this point. You want to extend mercies to the children of the rich that would never be extended to you or your neighbors.

Patent bullshit. I think Hunter should have suffered the same punishment levied against others who broke the same law. YOU are arguing for cruel and unusual treatment. Wake up!
Why? What makes you worth so much less than them?
If I did that crime it would be resolved in a weekend of community service and a promise not to do it again. Wake up!!

Actually you are incorrect here. The vast majority of ordinary people who commit hunters crime are not charged. The ones that are charged (6 or 7 per year out of a hundred thousand) are charged to persuade them to cooperate with prosecutors to go after a bigger fish. Now if there were any evidence of malfeasance by Joe, I’d be upset. But I’ve seen zippo! Nadda….

I keep pointing that out. Apparently in Poli’s mind that is only because it’s a “rich kid” crime.

Agreed.
Poli is indulging in false equivalence and citing “the law” as justification.
In a real life court of law, extenuating circumstances often bear on sentencing; there are sentencing formulae but they serve as starting points and the sentence may ultimately be more or less. It seems that such variance constitutes an injustice in Poli’s opinion. I reject that opinion.

Yes, actually I think you are.

You are confusing Biden using pardons to protect the victims of political criminals with Trump using pardons to protect the political criminals.

I wouldn't care if Hunter were Biden's kid or not. He's been targeted by the Teaparty. Hunter has the same last name as the president which makes their typical hypocrisy resonate with their low information supporters. So they've targeted Hunter for reasons that they never would if it was anybody who weren't named after Joe Biden. But I am all about defending the victim of a Teaparty smear campaign.

Here's the bottom line in my book.
Joe Biden has decades of a history of sterling character. His personal life and public service, there's no scandal. One might disagree with some decisions or policies, but his integrity is impeccable. So there's no shit that political criminals like Trump and the Teaparty can fling that will stick.

Donald Trump and Hunter Biden are very different from President Biden. But similar to each other. Both are the self indulgent children of wealth and privilege. Both have skated through life on their name and connections, their money and their looks. Neither has ever done anything useful of significance. Both are sleazy douchebags.

The big difference is that Trump has run for high office and millions of people, especially Christians, think he's the best qualified. Hunter has never done anything remotely like that.

The fact that he's been made a major public figure - in part because he happily traded in on his family name happily when it benefited him to do so - is all the more reason to make an example of him in this case. Every little more-money-than-sense shitbag in Washington just got an object lesson in how "minor felonies" are handled for people of their class, in a way that they wouldn't if Hunter Biden were a less visible figure.

You know who agrees with me? Joe Biden. He said so:

“With regard to the question regarding the family, I’m extremely proud of my son, Hunter. He has overcome an addiction. He is, he’s one of the brightest, most decent men I know. And I am satisfied that … I’m not going to do anything, I said I’d abide by the jury decision, and I will do that. And I will not pardon him.”

Did you think Joe Biden was unaware of the political context of Hunter's prosecution at the time when he made (and re-made, and re-made) that statement?

It's a fucking stupid point that you know full well you're accidentally mispeaking about. I know you read the news, and know that between the two trials, Biden was looking at a potential of more than thirty years in prison. No, the judge probably would not have sentenced him so harshly for a first time offense, at least not on drug/gun charges. No, lenient sentencing in a court of law concerning one specific is not at all the same thing as a full and unconditional presidential pardon extremely broad in scope, excusing Mr Biden from any federal crime he may have committed during the last decade.

And yes, he committed "rich kid crimes"! I'm not exactly poverty-stricken, but I've never been in a position to cheat the government out of 1.4 million dollars even if I wanted to. Have you?
