Wow! You really believe this "Russia did it" shit
Compared to the other main thing, that a drug addled rich kid mattered in the USA political landscape (who wasn't running for any official position), yes. I'm very convinced that Putin played a big role in the nothing burger of Hunter's laptop.
Tom
I admit I am kind of lost in this discussion. Namely, its widely claimed that there is nothing on the laptop/harddrive/whatever that is substantially incriminating towards Joe Biden. That seems to be true AFAIK. Yet, at the same time, its also being claimed in this thread that Russia has fabricated at least some of the content. So, why would Russia go to the trouble of making up some content or changes to the laptop, if it's not damaging to JB or the US? What do they have to gain by doing that? It doesn't make a lot of sense.
Because accusations against politicians need not be
true in order to be
effective.
The Russians don't care that their claims are not true, or even that they won't stand up in court. They don't even care whether the claims ever get to a court. They just wanted to reduce the number of votes Biden got. They want to put the USA in the hands of whomever will harm it the most, because a weakened USA is an opportunity for Russia.
Just look at our resident Russian troll's contributions here. He doesn't give a crap whether the things he says are true; Prove beyond doubt that they are false, and he will just keep right on saying them as though nothing happened.
It's spam. It matters not that a million spam emails lead to 999,999 of them being deleted; What matters is to keep on churning them out to catch that one idiot who will open the attachment and let your virus get inside the firewall.
Human interaction evolved in an environment in which shame and embarrasment worked. Someone caught in a lie had to be sorry, and be seen to be sorry, or he would lose the protection of the tribe, and probably his life.
Shame was a survival trait.
But society is now sufficiently complex that a person who lacks shame can thrive - many people struggle to recognise a lie, if its debunking is accompanied by a total absence of shame and embarrasment. And a shamess person who doesn't depend upon the support of his audience can run amok with impunity.
Hence the "laptop scandal", and, ultimately, the current situation in Washington DC.
