Biden's speech of Sept 1 2022 link

I'm saying a more skillful politician might be able to actually bring the country together insead of dividing it even more.
Seriously, how would that come about without using Jedi mind tricks or ruthless assassinations? The hardcore Trump supporters (i.e. "the election was stolen" types) are not interested in "unifying" the country
I'm certainly no expert politician. But I would go to the heart of every American with common values we all share. I would remind America of how I grew up middle class in Pennsylvania the rust belt. That the government is there to serve the people to bring jobs and prosperity to everyone.....I would focus on shit like that....common goals.

And I would shy away from divisive rhetoric that separates blue democrats and Republicans. And I would certainly make my speech look as pleasant as possible and not looking like it came from the death star.
Republicans do not believe that gov't is there to bring jobs to everyone. Hell, I'm not sure they believe the gov't is there to serve the people, because there is little evidence of it in their policies.
Ronald Reagan - the patron saint of the GOP (well, before Trump) famously said "government is not the solution to your problems. Government IS the problem!"

He said this on the first day of his government job.

Is he actually trying to calm the country down or instead stir things up more?
I think the answer is evident if you listen to the speech. He is, as you say, blasting the MAGAts. On one hand, that might stir “things” (MAGAts) up. On the other, he is trying to unite reasonable people regardless of Party, to oppose and prevent MAGAt fascism from abolishing democracy and converting America to the kleptocracy of Trump’s dreams.
Trump is desperate, and any attempt to restrain him will be met with violence. Having once elected him, that is now a price we will pay to get rid of him. Otherwise we lose everything.
It might be an appropriate time to remind you....that if discord continues further into civil war there is one side that is heavily armed and trigger happy. That same side being trained and experienced in firearms.

It is in no ones best interest to stir things up more.
This seems like a threat.
It is just logic. When A happens you can expect B. And I don't want to see B happen.
Doesn't mean it isn't a threat at the level of society.

The right is basically saying do it our way or we will take power by force.

I mean, you say you don't want to see "B" happen, but you're basically also saying you think B is the "logical" choice.
I'm saying a more skillful politician might be able to actually bring the country together insead of dividing it even more.
The Republicans are the ones doing the dividing. Their standard approach has been to demand coming together--but not actually honoring their agreements, just using them as a new starting point to move closer to what they want. If someone won't negotiate in good faith there's no point in negotiating at all.

Unlike either Hilary or Trump, Biden actually has the authority to present himself credibly with the middle class. And he should be doing it at every opportunity. Trump did not gain popularity by acting like a jerk he did so by being authentic and credible with the middle class.

Instead here we see Biden making threatening speeches looking like Darth Sidious. He is borrowing Trumps worst qualities. I just think it is a profound wasted opportunity for everyone with no upside.

Now, "the Reds" are threatening political violence if the "blue" states don't fall in line with "the Red States"
Wut? Are they threatening the "blue" states with well manincured lawns and low crime?
More like threatening them with high crime.

Red states have a murder rate 40% above blue states.

I don't remember you ever posting something like that after a Trump speech.

Trump did not gain popularity by acting like a jerk he did so by being authentic and credible with the middle class.
Bwahaha!
Trump and authentic are diametric opposites. Trump tried out provocative lines , like throwing ketchup covered spaghetti at the wall, and just kept repeating whatever got applause. With no regard whatsoever for facts. If a line bombed, he never usd it again. If it got applause, he repeated it. Pandering shamelessly to credulous people like RVonse got him close enough to overcome a three million vote popular loss and capture the Whitehouse. But all the voter suppression, cheating and electoral college games they could muster couldn’t overcome the 7+ million vote drubbing he took in 2020.
Trump remains, as ever, the LEAST authentic public figure of whom I have ever had the misfortune to become aware.

Seriously, how would that come about without using Jedi mind tricks or ruthless assassinations?
Who said anything about not using assassinations? Trump has been advocating for “2nd Amendment Solutions” for years. Ya kill enough libs, yeah- you’ll have a unified country. If anyone asks you, you’ll say you’re unified. Because there will be dire consequences for anyone who is not “unified”. Just like in the PRK.

THAT is the “Great” that Trump wants to make his Murka.

Trump did not gain popularity
That's the first accurate thing I have seen you say on this thread.

Trump took over the limited popularity of the Tea Party Republicans, and then bullied others into supporting him.

He's barely even popular with the people he has working for him.

The only people with whom he is popular are morons who haven't worked out who he is yet. People who work for him may well fear him, but few seem to actually like him.

Trump did not gain popularity by acting like a jerk he did so by being authentic and credible with the middle class.
This might be the biggest shovelful of bullshit I've read all week.

Trump's fans proudly embraced his ethic of "fuck your feelings."

Did you miss that?

As for authenticity, how many middle class men get up every morning and have a team work for an hour on their hair and makeup? How many middle class people think that shitting in the White House toilets is beneath them and complain that they aren't made of gold? How many middle class workers have burned through a bevy of supermodel wives while cheating on them with porn stars?

And credible? Right now we're learning that Trump had nuclear secrets at his totally relatable to the middle class golf resort, lied about taking them, lied when asked to return them, lied when subpoenaed to return them, and then spun at least half a dozen lies about the boxes of classified documents that were found on his sprawling "middle class" property.

Unlike either Hilary or Trump, Biden actually has the authority to present himself credibly with the middle class.
So...what? He is now obligated to? Name one Presidential candidate in the last 30 fucking years who passes such scrutiny. Bob Dole, Bachmann, Paul Ryan, Fred Thompson etc. Go on, name fucking one.

Oh wait, you can't? Yeah, didn't think so.
Trump did not gain popularity by acting like a jerk
Agreed. He gained popularity by being a cunt. Mexicans are rapists. Grab them by the pussy. Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. Ted Cruz's wife is an ugly piece of shit. Low energy Jeb Bush. Rubio! Crooked Hillary. Shifty Adam Schiff. CNN reporters getting shot in the face is a beautiful thing.

Tell me when to stop. It's easier to list the people on the planet Trump hasn't acted like a cunt towards. Let's see if you are smart enough to see a pattern:
Vladamir Putin
Mohammed bin Salman
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
Viktor Orban
Ivanka Trump

That's about it. Trump has been a cunt to pretty much everyone else. He would spit in your face and yet you still love him. That's kinda weird.

he did so by being authentic and credible with the middle class.

That's right. The guy who lives in central New York in an apartment with his name stenciled on it in gold letters with a literal golden throne and eats pizza with a knife and fork is genuine. I've got to ask, how shitfaced were you when you posted that horseshit?

Instead here we see Biden making threatening speeches looking like Darth Sidious. He is borrowing Trumps worst qualities.

Just...go away. Biden is not calling the free press "enemies of the people". He is not orchestrating domestic terrorism everytime an election doesn't go his way. And he doesn't want to be president for life.

Joe Biden isn't perfect. He is also a bajillion times better than the sandworm god emperor you worship.

But why did he make himself appear like Darth Sidious with all the darkness and red coloring? How was that visual supposed to bring the nation together?

The people in the Red party in the Red states who wear the Red hats suddenly pretending that red lighting is inherently terrifying to them? Pretty funny. Alas, I'm not sure they are aware of the irony.

Is he actually trying to calm the country down or instead stir things up more?

This seems like a threat.
Seems? How else could it even be interpreted?

Nothing to be afraid of though, Trumpers can't actually fight for shit. They're too cowardly to even say what they mean most of the time, let alone fight for it.

Now, that's not fair. those aren't the only people on the planet he hasn't acted like a cunt towards.

There's Kim Jong Un as well.

He was authentic and credilble at the time because he was the ONLY politician at the time saying he would place tariffs and prevent further globalization. All the other politicians (both sides) were saying the same other story. They were saying the jobs went away are aren't ever coming back. The middle class knew better because they knew the real truth that our politicians had sold them out to special interests and were still selling them out.

All the other stuff about the hair and the toilets, the little people could care less about. All the little people care about is whether their OWN lives get better or not. And for better or worse Trump was authentic to them because he was telling the truth. I happen to believe Biden has learned a lesson from this because so far he has not removed mann of Trump's tarriffs and appears genuenly interested in bringing strategic industry (chips) back to Ohio.

All I'm saying (related to the OP) is that Biden should keep the good things about Trump (tariffs) and get rid of the bad things about Trump (trying to look like Hitler to other party). And he will be tons more successful.

Trump's tariff policy cost the US about 250,000 jobs (mostly middle-class jobs) and didn't change the trade imbalance in the least. It reduced our GNP and hurt the country.

Globalism does not work for the middle class and the middle class knows this. The middle class knows Washington was gravely mistaken especially with regards:

1. That production and manufacturing jobs were unimportant because those positions would be replaced by better paying service and information jobs....and
2. That if the US helped China into the WTO, the PRC would become more of a democracy.

The real and unvarnished truth is that our political elite messed up big time and the middle class knows this. That is why the globalism pendulum has started swinging the other way and its not coming back.

Despite what wikipedia has to say about it.

All of this is off topic to the OP anyway. Even if your argument is correct, Biden would still favor anti-globalism at this point because that is what the middle class wants.

I stand corrected. You have many more shovelfuls of bullshit to deliver.

Trump was telling the truth? The man is the most prolific liar in White House history. He makes Nixon look like an honest man.

Your comment about "the little people" is laughable considering you turn right around and paint yourself as spokesman for what the middle class wants.

As for saving jobs that are irrelevant in today's global economy, do you also wish that Biden would fight to bring back telephone operator jobs? Phone book delivery jobs? Elevator operators? How about all the people who used to work making VCRs?

Trump (like you, apparently) has no idea what the middle class does or wants. To him they're "the little people" who work coal mining jobs and admire him for his dancing to that new song YMCA. His tariffs hurt the entire economy, but the wealthy really made out like bandits under his regime. The "little people" got massive unemployment thanks to his complete fumbling of the pandemic response. There are no "good things about Trump" for Biden to keep.

But you go on admiring Fragilego Mussolini if that makes you feel better than "the little people." Today he said that his medical records will reveal that he's "an absolutely perfect physical specimen" and I bet you'll believe that, too. Because he's so honest and authentic...
