That's right. President "Art of the deal-" announced he is negotiating with Putin to end the war in Ukraine. He promised that he would end that war in a day.
I'm sure that peace will be a relief to the millions of Ukrainians and President Zelensky when they see the announcement.

Maybe Trump will start lowering food prices this weekend.

My bet is on Trump selling out all of Europe.

My bet is on Trump selling out all of Europe.
He will certainly try.
Hopefully it goes as well as his other “business” ventures.
You mean where he lies and lies, then sells out everyone else and walks away with the money?
Tom
In this case it will just fail. There will be nothing for him to walk away with.
In the best scenario he croaks before he can do to Europe what he’s doing to the US.

You mean where everyone gets screwed and then he declares bankruptcy on all his assets so as to leave everyone else holding the bag?

Those ventures?

Trump just feels that Ukraine shouldn't have entered a war with Russia. Apparently, he believes Russia should have just allowed to overtake the nation, because Russia was moving on Kiiv. So, apparently Trump wants to make a grand deal. Hegseth indicates that Russia gets to keep territory, at least Crimea, but he didn't indicate whether eastern Ukraine was a fait accompli as well,

Maybe Ukraine will get to pay Russia for compensation from the losses Russia has endured in Ukraine's war.

I am sure Trump and Putin talked about this before he was elected. Putin told him if he let him take Ukraine, Trump could have Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal. Trump fell for it.

That, plus Putie realizes the value of keeping some Americans in stir as hostages. They have a long shelf life, and you can spend them years down the line as circumstances dictate.

I do find it ironic that the discussions concerning Ukraine will begin in Munich.

Have we learnt nothing from Munich 1938?
From here on out I'm gonna call Trump "Neville."

It's easy to state you will bring a quick resolution when you do not understand the current conditions. Russia will demand Ukraine be for all intents and purposes defenseless and Ukraine will demand much the opposite with security guarantees against future Russian aggression. Ukraine will only need this security for a short time. It has in place individual agreements with G7 nations and individual NATO members to assist it in ramping up its own military, giving Ukraine the technology it needs to stand on its own. Given Russia's current military state, I'd bet on Ukraine getting a formidable and technologically advanced fighting force up before Russia does.
Trump talks with Putin and appears to be icing out Ukraine and Europe. Ukraine and Europe should be entering into further economic agreements and icing out the US. Trump wants Europe to step up? Well give him what he wants and do just that.
Worst case scenario, what's stopping Ukraine from developing its own nuclear deterrent? No agreement I know of Russia hasn't already broken.

The war isn't over yet. But at least the Kremlin and Washington are communicating and speaking with each other now. That alone is a big accomplishment over the last administration. Because speaking is a LOT less deadly than bullets.

No worries, JD Vance is already helping him with that.

Munich, GermanyCNN —
US Vice President JD Vance vented at European leaders Friday, telling them that the biggest threat to their security was “from within,” rather than China and Russia.

Vance used his first major speech as vice president to lambast European politicians for suppressing free speech, losing control of immigration and refusing to work with hard-right parties in government.

The audience at the Munich Security Conference was expecting to hear about the Trump administration’s plans to end the war in Ukraine, but instead were treated to a bombastic rejection of liberal orthodoxies that have prevailed in Western Europe since the Second World War, in a speech that downplayed the threats to the continent posed by Russia and China.

“The threat that I worry most about vis-a-vis Europe is not Russia, not China, it’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within, the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values,” Vance told a stone-faced audience.

The vice president — due to meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky shortly at the conference — said “shutting down” unorthodox viewpoints is the “most surefire way to destroy democracy,” and called on European leaders – who have been elected by their respective peoples – to “embrace what your people tell you.”

“If American democracy can survive 10 years of Greta Thunberg scolding, you guys can survive a few months of Elon Musk,” he said.

WTF!

I used to think the same about Iran until Trump killed that dialogue.
